My question is, is the new area just the new site with the wings restaurant and extra space for future flats or does this include the crossroads area as well?

^ I’m going to assume with the trend CF is doing track will be burnt orange or rust brown like Valraven, RailBlazer and CW new dive coaster. Track should be showing up too by end of week. As for vertical all we have are 6 tall footers. Also we can tell where the gliders will be moved too which is curled here. Unless that’s a turnaround into the station idk.

And you know this how? Did the dipping dots guy give you some inside knowledge? Dude, Cedar Fair has been on a mission to rid themselves of stand up coasters. Common sense should tell you the last one is getting it too. It may get converted eventually...but not for 2019. Something will be going in the area that White Water Falls, Sand Dune Lagoon & Thunder Road's station was, including the flyers that are on hiatus this year while construction takes place. We'll see... Cedar Fair let that empty space sit at Canada's Wonderland for awhile...I'm guessing they'll do the same thing here at Carowinds. Canada's Wonderland is getting the huge investment in 2019. Dorney looks to be doing the same thing Knotts did. Too many patterns here. The stand up conversion every 2 years is looking very promising. I can see your prediction happening in 2020 though. But CGA also may be getting that hyper too soon. Carowinds may have to wait for their next big coaster in 3 - 4 years. " Project Alpha", which is shown in the permits filed (shown 3 pages ago), were filed in South Carolina (York County). Vortex, Hurler and the hotel are all in North Caroina. If it were a Vortex or Hurler conversion, the permit (s) would have been filed in NC (Mecklenburg County). The project will be in the area noted in my previous reply. There will be no Vortex conversion in 2019. Thank that’s all I’m saying. It MAY eventually happen but definitely not in 2019. I wouldn’t be surprised if they throw up another meme saying “STILL STANDING”. I’m betting they’re going to see how ridership changes with the addition of the carousel being next to it this season. I don’t see much but you never know. I’m not a fan of vortex im more a GA Scorcher and Riddler’s Revenge. We all know the later versions of stand ups are far better than the first gen standups thanks to ever changing engineering and technology.

South Gate won’t open until daily operation begins which after Memorial Day even then it’s just on Saturdays and Sundays. The waterpark entrance however will open at 11am with CH. Fortunately if for guest who park on that side and stay until closing time the do let you exit out the South Gate since CH closes about 3hrs before the dry side closes so since you’re not able to go back through the waterpark.

It’s so fitting for the Carolinas. Though the ride is in SC the play on words for Kitty Hawk, NC where the first flight of the Wright brothers took place is brilliant. Plus of course it’s next to Nighthawk and of course the Carolinas have a few Hawk species flying everywhere. Good job Carowinds.

They’re 3 or 4 hotels near the park. Comfort inn is directly across from the parking lot. As which is the best I’m not certain as I have no need to stay living 5mins away. The quality inn is across Carowinds Blvd behind the QT station.

^ Nothing just run it as a regular park with all the rides open as it typically near 60-75 possibly 80 degrees during the day. Of course with Christmas plays and maybe a day parade. idk. It’ll def be opposite of Scarowinds as the night is geared to teens and adults for the haunt. This time night time will be geared towards families as of course most rides will not be in operation during winterfest. Idk. Just me wanting the park open more lol

I say do like Scarowinds, however, in this case open the park during the day 9am and close at 3pm and reopen at 5pm for Winterfest.

Well Winterfest was a blast. I had my expectations set low, howver they blew out of the water for an inaugural event. I went just about every night and the place was packed except for the winter weather night where they closed at 7pm (smart IMO) and the Friday after Christmas. The shows were amazing and the temporary food afferings for Winterfest all were great. Yes I was a pig lol. I'll update photos later.

Pretty clever if you ask me and they'd done extensive Christmas decorating. It was kinda weird having Christmas decor up along with Halloween decor.

Agree but I much prefer a Huss, Intamin, or Zamperla version. Also a Screamin Swing would be nice well.
