The train is indeed the newest style of train for this type coaster. According to the concept that was on their Airtime Blog sometime back it did show the train cars to be painted different colors to emphasize the "S" in The Flying Cobra(S) name (each car is a cobra). Hopefully they'll stick to the red checked paint at the top of the supports as well. -

Quick update via carowinds twitter page. Cobra is almost done. The station is now being painted and as you can see the demolition to create the concrete pad for the Troika, Do-Si-Do, is underway as well. -

Cargo Shorts. Your thoughts?

I'm going to avoid sounding like an A$$ as much as possible here, but have you ever tried your back pocket? Ever since I've started going to parks more often, I've put my phone in my back pocket, and it stays there unless I'm A) trying to meet up, B) taking touristy pictures, or C) killing time in a long queue. To date, it has fallen out on a coaster precisely 0 times. Agree! I have always put my iphone in my back pockets even my front pockets, if they're deep enough, I have never lost my phone on any ride; whether it's a crazy flat that throws you everywhere to coasters that throw you out of your seat or have inversions. I barely wear cargo pants because its just to heavy for my liking. -

Just a little update. If youre familiar with this area of the park, you will see that the family waterslide complex has be removed to make way for the top scan to be called Electro-Spin and the wave swinger to be called Zephr. The park have stated on their social media that the slides will not be relocated in the water park due to it's age and other variables. It can't really be seen however the concrete pad for Rock N Roller the music Express to the far right is also underway. Lastly in clear view we see Cobra's paint job is underway as well. -

Well I know for sure that all the new rides coming next season have light packages which I'm stoked about. I always felt Carowinds was dark at night and the rides outside of Windseeker and Fury were just dark. Glad to see some aesthetics added to rides. Now if we can get a fog machine on the top scan too lol. -

No it's still in operation for Scarowinds. Not to say they wouldn't because Mantis was being repainted during the operating season but that's a much bigger coaster than a boomerang which shouldn't take long to paint off season. I also heard from an employee that Intimadator should be getting repainted and Screamweaver should be getting a light package. Take it with a grain of salt. We'll have to wait and see. -

Here is the timeline for the 2017 construction also the wewbcams are up and going. For those who were asking is the family water slide complex that most thought wasn't moving in fact is being removed. they have not said whether or not it will be moved to another part of Carolina Harbor or gone for good. https://www.carowinds.com/blog-article/online-fun/2017-Construction-Begins -

Also remember that traveling modals are operated more aggressively which will cause more wear and tear then permanent models which are pre-programmed and have shorter cycles. -

The can definitely send on of the tornado slides to Carowinds. We'll slide the hell out of as we have to go to Kings Dominion to experience one. -

Nothing has been confirmed, but Carowinds relocated theirs and it stands to reason that they'll relocate this one too. ...and we didn't find out where it was going until it was being reconstructed in it's new location in late February. There wasnt an announcement for it being relocated we just knew the go karts and Skycoaster were being removed and out of nowhere the Skycoaster popped up at the front of the park with the new name RipCord. -

Im pretty confident that most rides and coaster will be going. These days its like 70 degrees until January. lol I love this new area its looks to be very vibrant and energetic with all the decor and lights. I dont care for the Cobra's new name, they could have just left it the same IMO. -

So today I got these notifications. Obviously I was near Vortex for the Cirque imagine show and the one at the top alerted me as I was walking on the side of Cobra headed towards White Water Falls. -

That is near Carolina Cobra. You can see the marquee sign and the supports to the left and right of the blue trashcan on the right hand side of the photo. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk Most likely the Troika is going in the old put put area. I could be wrong tho. -

Actually the PR went on the local news here in Charlotte back in March and basically said the five rides were coming to Carowinds in 2017. This is why it's no secret, the only secret is behind the push to vote FOUR MORE!!! You'll be fine. I've been a platinum pass holder for years and it works at Scarowinds as well. Not for a park that is seriously lacking in that department. -

If the do bring back Gr8 Sk8, I hope it returns to its former name Guantlet and is operated as it did back then vs the great slow down to meet the height restriction when it was changed to Gr8 Sk8. -

No you will not have to pay again. The receipt that they give you will be fine to park when you get back and make sure you get your arm stamped when you leave the park for re-entry back into the park -

^ IDK what you are talking about. Sunday night Fury was hauling ass I rode it about 10x just for that reason. The high speed warning light was flashing on the control panel meaning the trims were not engaging as hard as they should have. -
