coastered Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Here is an AstroWorld encore. I forgot to post this one brochure from the park, the year the Mayan Mindbender opened. Here is it, the only AstroWorld coaster that still runs today. One out of Ten, that is not a good thing. You are wrong. There is another former Astroworld rollercoaster that is still running. You forgot Texas Tornado, the classic Schwarzkopf masterpiece. After Astroworld it went to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and now it is running in a mexican themepark, called Isla San Marcos Parque Temático. The name of the rollercoaster is Tsunami.
montezooma Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 I did forget the infamous Thriller. It was located first at AstroWorld as Taz' Texas Tornado (that Taz was later dropped). It then went to Six Flags MarineWorld before being sold off to some park near Mexico City.
montezooma Posted July 10, 2009 Author Posted July 10, 2009 Sorry, I do not have anything from that park...actually have never even heard of it.
CorkscrewFoley Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 used to live ayan Mindbender wen it was Nightmare at Boblo. Mind you this was back in the early 90's, but it was always the first ride I would hit...
jakkspar Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Zoomerang is one the best rides ive seen here. ________________ Rapid prototyping

montezooma Posted October 7, 2009 Author Posted October 7, 2009 Well it is that time of year again. Time to open up the attic and pull out some of the great stuff I have saved over the years. What an exciting summer I had. For those of you that aren't aware, I opened up a small waterpark in Draper UT. I say small, but it does feature the world'd largest water play structure. I am pleased to say we had a very successful season and our guests really enjoyed their experience at Cowabunga Bay. (check out this thread if you are interested in knowing more about Cowabunga Bay) Summer also brought for me three great weeks of TPR coasting across Asia. I had the best time travelling through China and North Japan with some great coaster friends. While China was an exciting place to visit I must admit that Japan is my favorite place in the world!!!! I love this place and being able to travel out to the boonies of Japan to ride some very unique coasters was an experince I will never forget. So enough about me lets get started with Season 3 of Shane's Amusement Attic. While in Japan we stayed at the new Tokyo Disneyland Hotel and spent three days at Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea, two of the GREATEST theme parks in the entire world!!! So I thought I would start this season off with some Disney stuff. Over the next couple of days I will share with you some early souvenir books from each of the Disney parks. First off, let's start with the original Disney Park (Chris, this is "your park"). Here is a souvenir book from 1978. You gotta love the old Tomorrowland and Fantasyland and also Frontierland without Big Thunder. Hope you all enjoy season 3. Keep the comments coming!!! Shane and one last shot of another Arrow Corkscrew! OK, now onto Disneyland circa 1978 The best ride of the trip for me was this Togo Ultra Twister which featured the awesome dive loop which sent you into the final twists at unbelievable speed! daily affirmations..."I am a winner and damnit, people like me!" I am a sucker for old Arrow Corkscrews and this one you were able to walk right underneath the track which allowed me to get this GREAT shot! first off Here are just a couple of my favorite shots from China/Japan
The Disneylander Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Thanks for starting off Season 3 with some awesome shots of my favorite park! Great start, Shane! Can't wait for your next installment.
alpengeist04 Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Great start to season 3, Shane. There's nothing like seeing souvenir books from the theme park that started it all.
Mozart67 Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 God...even though I boycotted the Mouse for years (long story...and boring as well) I see pictures of late 70s Disneyland and still think ' wow! what a photogenic and visually-captivating experience..' esp. Tomorrowland. Space Mountain was so unreal then, as well as the rockets and the PeopleMover 3000 (3000?)...Sure, you could go down the road and ride the Revolution, the Gold Rusher and Colossus, but Tomorrowland just seemed lightyears cooler.. Also, love the Matterhorn/Monorail/20,000 Leagues shot in the booklet. Thanks as always Shane Scott
nursemelis374 Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Glad you are back and what a great a report! I am almost positive my parents have this book and I remember looking at it when I was younger! Thanks!
robbalvey Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 The photos of Disneyland are seriously amazing and all, but I don't think anything can top this... Welcome back Shane! --Robb
