montezooma Posted February 10, 2014 Author Posted February 10, 2014 I just came across this and thought it a funny find. Back in the Time Warner days. AstroWorld was still a part of the Six Flags family.
arby Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 That's a great find and their marketing is quite interesting. Do you know what year this was from?
Mrlittle Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 ^^ that was strange marketing. I wonder who they considered #1 at that time. I would assume Disney but not sure of the time frame.
netdvn Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Those flyers are from the early-mid 90s. Obviously Disneyland is considered number 1. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
jray21 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Shane, that was a great find! I love looking back at the 'olden' days.
montezooma Posted March 1, 2014 Author Posted March 1, 2014 SIX FLAGS FIESTA TEXAS 10 YEAR PLAN (10 years ago) I guess it was more like 15 years ago, but at that time I was working with Six Flags. I was in charge of putting together a 10 year plan for the park which included an large new looping steel coaster, a watepark expansion, new children’s area, an Intamin Drop Tower and a giant racing, dueling wooden coaster. Not much ever came of the plan other than these cool renderings.
ArizonaGuy Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Wow! The Boardwalk dueling woodie would have been amazing. Goes to show how much land they can actually use for expansion. Around the Ghostblasters building, past ops base, and back towards the employee parking lot.
RyanGsatMCO Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 From the details that are in the map I say this is a 98 creation and your influence was greater than you are appreciating. You say nothing ever came of it, but the Kiddie ride package was installed in 99 with many of the rides in your drawings, but just in many locations around the park. Scream started out as a single drop tower and turned into an S&S combo. Superman is near the current spot for your looping coaster. The water park expansion happened too! Finally the Boardwalk wooden coaster was on and off for a while. Once AW was closed the rumors kicked into high gear with Cyclone trains and ride entrance showing up and markings in the Boardwalk area. So give yourself some credit a lot of this happened in a way!
Mrlittle Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 That's awesome to see. Hmm, now my mind is thinking of what ifs. It was probably because of your idea to build a looping coaster off the wall in that area that would factor in to eventually going with Superman. So Thank you for that. Goes to show how much land they can actually use for expansion. Around the Ghostblasters building, past ops base, and back towards the employee parking lot. Maybe enough land to build a hypercoaster. That would really round out the park.
Rollercoaster Rider Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Please tell me you have more 10 year plans for other Six Flags parks.
cfc Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 The theming for the water park, with the oil derricks, is very clever.
disney4me2001 Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 Please tell me you have more 10 year plans for other Six Flags parks. Six Flags? Having a 10-year plan? I keed, I keed. I'll go back to the SFMM thread now...
jray21 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Yeah, I liked the oil derricks as well. Really cool stuff, thanks for posting it!
cal1br3tto Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I WANT that dueling wooden. Somewhere, anywhere that could give it a good home.
Rollercoaster Rider Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Is they anymore Attic stuff Shane?
I love pie Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Please tell me you have more 10 year plans for other Six Flags parks. Six Flags? Having a 10-year plan? I keed, I keed. I'll go back to the SFMM thread now... keed? Do you mean keked?
richtrav Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Wow, very neat. That looks like a rendering of the rumored Gionavola hyper coaster that ended up going to SFFT instead. For some reason it was scrapped (Steel Eel?)
I love pie Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Do you have any renderings/aninmations of montu, when it was first announced?
TheCoasterKid211 Posted November 19, 2015 Posted November 19, 2015 (edited) Do you have any renderings/animations of Montu, when it was first announced? I'm almost certain he does, check the index. Edited November 19, 2015 by TheCoasterKid211
SixFlagsAstroworld Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Looking at those old Six Flags flyers from the 70's made me wonder: Who the hell are those colorful fur ball monsters!?
ericthewanderer Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Looking at those old Six Flags flyers from the 70's made me wonder: Who the hell are those colorful fur ball monsters!? From my understanding Magic Mountain's original mascots were a wizard and his pet trolls;the wizard was a Merlin-looking guy and the trolls were these "furball" characters.I wish that parks like that had kept more of their uniqueness!
Nrthwnd Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Like this... Another retro logo of MM. Very "1970's" I think. (o;
SixFlagsAstroworld Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Looking at those old Six Flags flyers from the 70's made me wonder: Who the hell are those colorful fur ball monsters!? I was actually talking about the ones at SFSTL. EDIT: It reminded me of the ones at SFSTL. Sorry I didn't add very much detail.
