CedarFair1
Update and predictions based of the Cedar Fair investment chart matching up with Canada's Wonderland's Redevelopment Large Multi- Year Project. Very busy day as usual and haunt stuff under way :0 Legend of Cedar Fairs investment predictions from me Hotel/ accommodations coming to more Cedar Fair parks. Hotel site prediction if we are to get one. Massive plot of land and it is owned by Cedar Fair and it can house a hotel and parking for guests. Hotel site prediction number 2 with hotel entrance to the park and removal of Action theater This is new, colourful sign and it features two settings, park hours and SEE YOU SOON! no more hiring adverts or boring black and white. New seating area around the new Food Truck near Sledge Hammer full que for back breaker... I mean Minebuster full que for Leviathan and ... wait what!?! A line up for the front of line game for Leviathan lol Vortex has a very over flowing que today lol tree removal and maintenance, nothing to see here move along! NEW FOR 2016, DIRTTTTT! here's an in person shot of where I think the hotel would go if we get one Kingdom of Carnages' new home??? the park clearly needs places that guests can line up after last years over park crowding and unorganized shitt show potential que for Kingdom of Carnage more potential que for Kingdom of carnage The Asylum haunt set up or it could be something else this year.. Halloween Haunt is coming! more haunt! Cornstalkers, gurl they can't hide you behind a planter lol One side of the theater is shut down, this would be perfect for them as it has a massive que line and they can still do a haunt show in there and use the other side for maze! Tanks4me05
^Interactive dark ride/digital experience and a new coaster for CP? I know this is technically the incorrect thread to be discussing it, but wouldn't that essentially confirm Valravn is going to be a VR coaster? CedarFair1
Wonderland specific predictions based off conference call, news articles and rumors; 2016- Food & Beverage (BBQ and Brew) & Tween/ family ride/ or Thrill Ride 2017- multi launch Wing Coaster Ziz. New hotel (if not 2017 then 2019, but I have a feeling we will have a hotel installed for the opening of Ziz in 2017) 2018- Minebuster removal, nothing added 2019- Thrill Ride or Family Ride or Splash Works addition. 2020- Infrastructure or nothing 2021- Coaster to replace Minebuster
loop-de-loop
I'd be surprised if Wonderland got a hotel. I feel like they wrote that idea off when they sold off that massive plot of land north of the park. That would've been the perfect spot for one. Plus Wonderland isn't a destination/resort kind of park, and it doesn't need to be. The park has an enormous market within 2 hours driving time. canadianparkfan
^Agreed. I even know people in places like just outside of Ottawa or up in northern Ontario who make day trips to wonderland. Personally believe we'll be seeing a Minebuster "coaster rework" (AKA RMCing) as the next big expansion/development after "Ziz". Already heard rumours of Ghostrider at Knott's being RMCed in the near future, so if that plan comes to fruition, I'm willing to bet Minebuster would also be on the list. 1pizza14
I really don't think Wonderland would ever add a hotel, since the large suburban sprawl in Vaughn the park pretty much sits inside of a city, and a large majority of guests live within driving distance (almost 5 million in the GTA). That being said, Knotts has a hotel and is in a similar situation to CW
Coasterguy21
Update and predictions based of the Cedar Fair investment chart matching up with Canada's Wonderland's Redevelopment Large Multi- Year Project. Yeah....no! Those check marks probably shouldn't be assigned that way anyway because multiple parks could add some of those in the same year. And your lack of other parks mentioned just shows how you think the business operates (and your "sorry who" comment proves that). Dorney and MiA will also receive things in those years, and for the other parks to be lumped together like that just makes it to where anything is possible there it seems. Not that I'm doubting some of them because I feel a few may be right. But we know major capital is also on the way for MiA per a release not too long ago. As for CW, I sense some waterpark stuff for next year. Also, that 2018 coaster re-work you have circled I think will be for Mean Streak at CP and not for CW. And CP's dark ride will probably be sometime in the future and not for 2016 (maybe a VR experience but not the dark ride). Of course, just predictions. Smaller parks get less frequent and less expensive investments that's why I listed the small parks together... Also sarcasm can be missed epically sometimes, I know all the parks I simply forgot to add it tot he list. Orange just stands for all the small very low attendance parks, as Cedar Fair is very a top 5 park company. Do I think I'm going to be right on these guesses, yeah maybe like 1 or 2 out of luck lol... That's why I said predictions.. God these small Cedar Fair park fan boys get so defensive and cry so much when they year after year after year after year after yearsssss get no rides and they are confused why but don't understand, your home park has to bring in a ROI to receive big attractions and most the small parks in this chain cannot afford a 20+ million dollar large attraction. Coasterguy21
^I know perfectly well how the business works actually, but thanks. I was just pointing out the flawed logic behind it still because CF stated they were ready to ramp up the investments, especially in the labeled growth parks. In terms of profit margin, despite making the lowest amount of money, Michigan's Adventure makes a profit-margin that is on par with all the larger parks. That's a healthy sign. And look at Carowinds, there were specific mentions in the investor presentation back at Carowinds that stated they want to grow Carowinds to be compared with Kings Island (and adjust that to make EBITDA match too). I was specifically pointing out your "sorry who" regarding Dorney. Also, decisions aren't just based on potential ROI (which is a moot point because Lagoon just added a $20 million coaster that will take a few years to make back) They're based on attendance patterns as well. Some smaller parks don't have large slips or large forecasted slips in attendance due to a loyal local fan base. So they don't need to add rides as often because of that. When attendance seems like it may slip, then they add.
WonderlandFan
For haunt I was thinking that it would be smart to have 11-13 mazes this year and have it opened later to help manage the large crowds and make it easier to do all of the mazes more than once. I'm thinking that Club Blood and Terror of London should be retired because in my opinion both of them are not that scary and not well done (compared to the others). New mazes that would make a great fit: Slaughter House, Doll Factory, Fallout Shelter, Trick or Treat, Delirium, Bait's Motel. I'd be happy with any of those mazes or anything similar to them. coasterkid124
I know the park just got a new waterslide last year, but maybe they will again this year. Your comments tell me that you have not visited many Cedar Fair parks, have you? You need to take Kings Dominion out of the orange and give the park its own color (or colour if you are Canadian). Kings Dominion was the 2nd park to be built from scratch in the old Family Leisure / Kings Entertainment Corporation [KECO] park chain. It is modeled after Kings Island, the 1st park built from scratch. (The final park built from scratch was Canada's Wonderland, which opened in 1981). The other 2 parks in the old park chain was Carowinds (purchased from a private owner in 1975 - Same year KD opened to the public). The last park in the old chain was California's Great America. Initially managed by KECO in the late 1970's/early 1980's. Then purchased in the mid-late 1980's. Currently, KD has 13 operating roller coasters, water park, campground, and sets on 480 acres of land (almost 2 square kilometers of land). Last major coaster: Intimidator 305 in 2010. I think you might be referring to those complaining that it has been 6 years since I305 was installed. That is the longest stretch of time between coasters in the park's history. A few factors that might be influencing how Cedar Fair is developing Kings Dominion. 1) Park has been dinged in the past for being perceived as an "asphalt teenage coaster park". Cedar Fair has been working toward changing that perception by orienting the new attractions toward family and kids. Especially, over the last 3-4 years. 2) Aging park infrastructure. Kings Dominion is 40 years old and a good deal of infrastructure was past due for a refurbishment. Cedar Fair has been working on that aspect over the last 2-3 seasons. 3) Outside of Knott's Berry Farm, Kings Dominion has the greatest amount of competition for tourist dollars. Within 1-1.5 hour's drive of the park is Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Six Flags America. Go a little further and there is Hershey Park. Kings Dominion averages around 2 million visitors a year. Given the above, I can see why there is more of a coaster drought for Kings Dominion right now. I feel the park will be getting another coaster in 2017. I just don't know if we will be getting a new one every 4 years. More likely every 5-6 years going forward.
Married a Canadian
Ok..so no coaster this time (2017 seems to be the general opinion online now)...but two interesting additions. https://www.canadaswonderland.com/what-s-new/new-for-2016-flying-eagles-skyhawk I can't quite figure out Skyhawk from the description, at 100ft it looks thrilling...whatever it is!! I leave it to more knowledgeable people than me to explain. Flying Eagles....I find these rides good fun and if the wind is right...you can soar REALLY high if you get the "sail" in the right position. A good fun family ride but one that you can have some fun experimenting with to change the experience. Nice additions in my opinion, and pleased to see Wonderland continuing the recent trend of expanding each year with different themed rides. I also think it will mean GREAT excitement for 2017 now as that SHOULD be new coaster time. Clever strategy by the park....there will be a LOT of interest

CedarFair1
NEW FOR 2016 Canada's Wonderland is dominating flat rides; Skyhawk, the first ride of its kind in North America, will take riders to a new level of adventure when the park opens for its 35th season in 2016. Riders will take control of their own cockpit, showcasing their flying abilities as they maneuver through 360 degree turns, and challenge themselves to engage in multiple inversions at 135 feet (41m) in the air. Flying Eagles will thrill little pilots and quickly become a family favourite for parents and children alike. These two-person planes will glide 28 feet (8.5m) above the ground and allow each rider to control their flight and ride experience. thrillseeker4552
Are we sure that this isn't one of those giant Zamperla Air Races that lift into the air? DevinC049
Skyhawk looks awesome! I do believe TPR did post a video of a sky roller a while back. Looks to be a fabulous addition, especially with their Top Scan and their Sledgehammer already there. More incentive to visit! My only beef is that capacity is low for both of these. Wouldn't mind seeing at least the gliders on a larger scale to accommodate more riders. Not sure if that is possible, but one can hope.
