Coasterbabe
hhhmmmm.. worst themed ride... worst themed ride.... The first thing coming to mind is... I would have to say... Twister at Universal Studios Orlando. I swear I thought the "ride" itself was the pre-show and you would then be led to these jeeps that would take you storm chasing and all. Now that would be cool! I only rode it once along-long time ago (because I hated it so much and it's not worth waiting 1 minute for and wasting a valuable 5 mins of my life to stand through again), but from what I can remember, it was way too short and not intense at all. The special effects were so-so and the cow had strings. It could have had so much more potential.
PKDFreak
I would have to say.....Scream, seeing as its in a parking lot!
coasters 4 me
i would say scream as well, like what the hell, a parking lot as landscape! If this was in a poll, i would say Scream! would be of the chart at this rate!
Red Benny
Maybe some will argue with me on this one. At the Luxor in Las Vegas they have a motion simulator ride (the name escapes me). It starts out pretty cool.. you hear about some scientific team was drilling deep into the earth and discovered a pyramid. You ride an elevator on the way down and something goes wrong (as it always does on these kinds of rides). You're rescued and have to ride some weird egyptian hovercraft thing to the surface.. that's when the ride portion starts. It's actually very highly themed.. almost on par with some Disney ride. I say it's the worst themed ride in my mind simply because the theme doesn't work.. at all. It looks cool at first but as you go farther into the ride it starts to look cheap.. like they ran out of money halfway through. To make it even worse, the "actors" they use are never very good. I went on this ride when it first opened and I loved it.. the last time I went on a couple years ago I really had a hard time believing everything. They used to have a three part ride. The first part was the motion simulator, the second was a 3D talk show of some sort, and the third was an IMAX movie. All together it actually had an decent storyline.. but Luxor cut the other two and just left the motion simulator, so it feels terribly incomplete. It just goes to show that you can spend millions of dollars on themeing and it can still suck. Just to show you how much they still care about the ride.. you can ride two other motion simulators in the same building. Stuff like "Dracula's Castle" or "Escape from Dino Island." You know.. the cheap motion simulators they have at fairs and mini-golf courses that look like they were done 15 years ago. It's sad really. sorry this was so longwinded
Red Benny
I have never liked the Hurricain from the SCBB, In fact I would say it totally sucks What about the psychedelic caveman train ride? I wouldn't really call it bad themeing though.. just weird-what-the-hell-were-they-smoking themeing.
pupkick
At least with Scream in the parking lot, it doesn't take up much room, Shockwave @ SFGAm took up a ton of parking lot space. Throw some grass in there at least! My vote, however, goes to Mr Freeze at SFSTL. Inside it's got some color scheme thing going, but outside.. it's concrete. They couldn't even put in some stripes to fake us out to a parking lot theme! it's just lots of barren concrete! Crap! gisco
My vote is for Scream at SFMM. How much could it possibly cost to put in at least grass and a few bushes. Seeing the stripes for the parking lot cheapens it I think.
X
I would have to say Scream at SFMM. They didn't even try to theme the ride! Its themed to a Parking lot! I remember parking where the corkscrews were before! Kevin "SFMM, Do you know how to grow grass!?" Bujold

Pure Randomness
Scream. All the fun of zipping around where some people parked thier cars before. Would it really be hard to add some dirt and grass? Instead we got stripes and tarmac. 8)
Mr.Six
Everyone better stop dissing my favorite theme for a coaster "Faded Parking lot goodness". I could really care less for theming on a coaster unless its something like Space Mountain or any other rides that half of the reason why you ride them is for the theming. On Scream all I can think of is "Yeah!!! B&M!!". So themeing really dosen't do much for me on a regular coaster.
maliboomer
Isn't this for rides that have attempted with theming?
palmerleeberry
NOTICE - IT'S BEEN NEARLY FOUR YEARS SINCE THIS TOPIC GOT IT'S LAST POSTING. AS A FAVOR (and since I can't think of any new topics to bring to the forum) I'M BRINGING IT BACK!!! "Yipee, I'm back! Didja miss me?" As for the ride that has the worst themeing, I have to go with The Typhoon Sea Coaster at Six Flags America. This ride could've been an excellent flume ride that fits nicely with Skull Island, but they made it a ride through with boring scenery that you'll be lucky to see if it was lit. Plus the fact that ride isn't running as often as it should puts this ride low on my "must ride or die" list. "If the Typhoon Sea Coaster is that bad of a ride, then I should have it in my park. Since there's no water in H, E, (double hockey sticks), I can make it much worser than ever. Kiss my on that!!!"
Kennyweird
I nominate Disaster Transport for worst themeing ever. I couldn't see much, but I swear the themeing consisted of painted garbage cans (after all, it is Cedar Fair), card board boxes, and shopping mall mannequins. Electerik
I tend to be pretty forgiving of bad theming, simply because I appreciate the attempt. Plus, "cheesy" is usually fun in its own right. And even WTF theming usually makes me laugh. Still, for pure cheap-out-theming-from-a-company-I-expect-better-from, "Sounds Dangerous" at Disney's Hollywood Studios is a 4D type attraction that mostly involves sitting in darkness while you listen in on Drew Carry's undercover cop, who is supposedly wired for sound and (inconsistent) video. Exactly how this allows the entire audience to get wet by being sneezed on at the end (ala Honey, I Shrunk The Audience) is still a mystery to me. But, in any case, the whole thing is one big pile of cheap badness.

Wow, when I saw this topic I was going to immediately post the exact same thing. Hahaha Although I guess Disaster Transport is sort of fun in a tacky, turn-of-the-nineties way, and I suppose the big thing in the middle of the helix is a bit more than painted garbage cans and cardboard. I think Kennywood’s Exterminator deserves a mention here too. Not necessarily the worst themeing, but it’s still sort of weird, especially your first impressions with the line that’s supposed to look like a sewer or something, and to be honest, probably is made out of sewer parts. But the ride was pretty awesome looking back, but my first impression leaving was WTF?

Of all the rides I've been on I would have to say that Disaster Transport wins for the least amount of effort to create adequate theming. I walked out of that ride and said, "Crap"!! It was fun though and a credit! I give it an E for effort.

Have you ridden it this year?!?!?! They added a bunch of random Fright Fest objects, including a giant skeleton and this giant jack-o-lantern in the helix! downunder
Did anyone notice that Skull Mountain wasn't as dark as before, at least since my last visit in 2006. I'm going to have to jump on the Disaster Transport bandwagon, at least when I last visited in 2007 they had that stupid Alaska spiel turned off when you go up the lift hill. CreditCrazy
I could think of several rides with horrible theme, simply because they don't have any. But worst coaster that has theme IMO, would be Medusa @ SFDK. It has a small, lame greek theme. Worst coaster without any theme is Scream @ SFMM. It already has none, plus it's right over a parking lot. And you can still see parking spaces. And the only thing seperating Scream and the normal parking is a small old fence
