downunder
They must have very lax safety laws in Spain judging from some of those rides at Tibidabo. I'm surprised they haven't contracted that guy who made that home made coaster the Blue Flash to build a ride for them. Furius Baco, on first look at the POV it looks really flat but I probably missed the point, sounds sensational. I had been hoping Maverick would have wing walker trains like FB, but maybe someone else in the US will get a coaster like that.
oriolat
The best of all, I was the ride Op for the Plane-on-a-Stick (aka Avió) Those rides are only found in Tibidabo and they are so precious that the park wouldn't be the same without them. They are really really appreciated by the locals. BTW, the coaster DOES have upstop wheels, they are hard to notice though. And last, did you miss the other "credit"? "Tibidabo Express" (Zamperla Powered Mine Train), the suspended dark-ride "El magatzem de les bruixes" and the horror walk-through "Krüeger Hotel"? Seriously, they are some of the best rides in the park

The park has passed all tests every year with no exception, so those rides are SAFE. I can guarantee that since I run them. They might be old or look unsafe, but they are not. Wes
Does Rich have multiple bright orange shirts or is he just hoping no one noticed he wore the same thing two days in a row?

robbalvey
Does Rich have multiple bright orange shirts or is he just hoping no one noticed he wore the same thing two days in a row? Well, technically, we went to Tibidabo on the same day at PortAventura!
MrMorgan
MrMorgan, was there a small mountain railway going to the park ? As Tibidabo has one.. However I think that's shut in 2007 for repairs. I went to RCDB.com and did a little looking around. I think it must have been Parc de Montjuic that we saw. I also noticed they had one of those random, non-looping shuttle coasters like Ramses at Parc de Attraciones Zaragoaz. Look:
yankees15
Thanks for all of these wonderful updates Robb, it really looks like you guys are enjoying your trip! Sorry but I have a really dumb question to ask. On Furius Baco are there anti-rollback breaks on the launch? I didn't notice any in your video. airtimejunkie
Thanks for all of the updates, Robb! That "plane on a stick" ride looks sick! Yikes! Kevin
asr
I thought they had 2 other credits being a powered Zamperla and Vekoma Yeah, they have a powered Zamperla coaster, because of complaints from locals, the Vekoma has been pushed back to 2008 or possibly cancelled. robbalvey
is it just me or does baco look kinda boring? Its not just you. It does *look* boring. From the photos and videos I saw I was not expecting the OMFG ride that it was. The airtime you get on the drop after the launch is just sick. And then you don't have time to catch your breath until the zero G and it takes that SO fast! The video doesn't do it justice but that ride is anything but boring. --Robb
groovyguy
Great TR from Tibidabo! Unfortunately I didn't manage to go there two years ago when I was in Barcelona. At least I visited Port Aventura. Looking forward to see you guys in not-so-sunny Tripsdrill tomorrow.
SteveC
R&E - thanks a million, stupid stupid me for not doing the add on! (I really should have known better) - great flight back - mainly because 'The Brits' were unconsious after a major farewell night in the bar with the Panthers - we did not hear the alarm and catching the flight at all was touch and go (sound familiar?) Looking forward to seeing further updates as and when - we are heading off to Brighton Pier to ride the Bouncy Bouncy, (sad and pathetic add on - but still it should be fun) and probably we will hit a bar or two to see if we can piece together what happened when and where. We will have a drink for each of you then we will DIE. Oh - and lets see more of BIG MIKE - who is so cool it frightens me 8) Cheers all Steve C

Too bad it's practically unrideable in the outside seats. If it was the same as the inside seats everywhere I would put it in my top 10. Wow. I'm really anxious to hear your guys' thoughts on Maverick now. The first thing I thought of when I watched the footage was the zero G, the speed it took it at, and the subsequent roughness on the outer seats. Makes me wonder even more about Maverick's missing heartline. Any ballpark idea as to how fast the train is traveling when it reaches the zero G? Plane on a stick........AWESOME! Being enclosed, I'm not quite sure it was Stratosphere material, but very close by the looks of it.
redfoot12
That kid and lady look severely disturbed by this shenaningan. It looks he would have been in trouble if Papa Bear had been with the two folks behind him.
coastercrazed49
Wow I have been gone for a week and I come back to all this. Tibidabo looks extremely Ghetto with the rides, but is the park compleatly like that? Cant wait to see more!

WillBCN
Tibidabo really is an old park, but it's a symbol of Barcelona. Some of the rides are almost 80 years old and it's amazing they are still there! (By the way, Tibidabo is now the oldest amusement park in Spain, after the first one, located near Tibidabo, disappeared back in the 1920's. There is some vintage footage of that park, too). I used to enjoy Tibidabo a lot when I was a kid, since the first theme park we ever had in Spain was Port Aventura back in 1995 (and it didn't even have half the rides it has today!). ------- Regarding Furius Baco, let me point out that the monkeys are NOT drunk. Actually, it is only ONE monkey (called "Manàs"), which is the inventor's assistant. And I can assure you that monkey is not drunk because I've never ever seen a drunk monkey riding a bike... yet... For those who have been there, you may have seen that comic strip story outside the ride and inside the queues building. There you have the story behind Furius Baco, which is unfortunately only in Catalan and Spanish, but that I could translate, if anyone is interested. Wood Dragon 1988
I agree that the POV doesn't do Furius Baco justice. The layout does look boring as hell. Still, it is tops of my 2007 coasters that I want to ride. I really, really did like the video though. The off ride views actually looked better than the on-ride ones. I've always felt that any launch just isn't done any justice on film!
chaos_theory1
dang looks like your having so much fun over there, tibidado looks awesome, next time i head down to barcelona ill check it out. i still think you should have gone to the park in san sebastien, its got to be seen to be believed http://www.rcdb.com/pd529.htm
Dj-Javixxxxx
Nice videos and reviews! But i'm still want a review about PortAventura shows, and ... did you get time to rode Pndol? Someone here need more extenses reviews! Anyway, nice shots of Furious Baco from backstage... but... how strange is the gate working... they usually dont use it because it can make an error to the safety system and block the ride :S
thefitness
After being gone for the weekend it was nice to come back to some awesome updates! Dragon Kahn and Furius Baco both look really fun. Is life insurance a requirement to ride Plane on a Stick? Sounds like you guys might be getting more hotel bar credits than coaster credits!
