TheArchfiend
^ It would certainly be the cherry on top. Or an Aquatrax like the new one being built at Cedar Point as we speak. And how ironic that that Aquatrax is the color of a cherry.

niiicolaaah
Somehow it really amuses me that I've been on the 3rd best, and 7th worst steel coasters in the world.
SharkTums
And here's my problem: The Steel Poll has seemingly become very popular among many German coaster enthusiasts. For example, It is interesting to note that Expedition GeForce had more riders take the poll than SFNE's Superman: Ride of Steel. Also, Phantasialand's Black Mamba had 50% more riders participate in the poll than did the other 'new for 2006' ride in the top ten, SFoG's Goliath. Ironically, it seems that those German voters, on average, rated EGF lower (especially in relation to Black Mamba) than did other voters. LAME! Thanks to Mitch for at least calling attention to them. As for me, I ranked EGF above SRoS. They're both great, but Ge Force is a better ride, better setting, better trains (now!).
DerekRx
^Agreed. I'll be anxious to see how Black Mamba holds up once its newness wears off. I think its more along the lines of a PCWi Top Gun in terms of ride than a Nemesis or Montu. Though once again, Phantasialand is a really awesome park, so maybe that has something to do with its ranking so highly. I know Holiday Park really treats us well (and IMO, EGF could be in the middle of a corn field by itself and still be #1) but when my friends visited, EGF was only running 1 train and had like 20-30 minute waits, on a weekend. Of course, I would rather wait 20 minutes for 1 train operation on that than the usual 1 hour wait for Superman at SFNE. The chanced of me getting line jumped are a lot less. Not to mention the trains are more comfortable in Germany. Of course, now I'm anxious for a TPR Australia trip so we can all ride the other good Superman! DragonKhan
Yeah, but he also fails to mention the opposite, that a very large number of Americans did the same thing the other way around... In addition to all that. Is it wrong that many people like Black Mamba better that EGF? I think not, it's just a matter of opinion, and thus, such a poll should always be taken with a grain of salt. Make your own opinions people! One of the big advantages I see in the poll is to plan future trips, and then I don't think it matters if a coaster is ranked #1 or #11, the trip will be worth it! robbalvey
Why do so many people consider EGF a "legend"? I'm just wondering... For the same reason I find it annoying that you just can't simply admit that you and many of your other German enthuasit friends rank EGF just to spite it. Admit it. Don't be a pussy about it and pretend you're not ranking it low on purpose. --Robb

PKI Jizzman
As for me, I ranked EGF above SRoS. They're both great, but Ge Force is a better ride, better setting, better trains (now!). I voted EGF higher than SROS for the same reason, not just the ride, the look of it. The Superman color scheme is old and overused, and its in a crappy park. Kinda like the Aska situation. Anyway, EGF has those bright, neon like colors...sweet! And EGF goes through the trees, those pics from the TPR trip looked beautiful! But it seems SROS delivers a better ride, but EGF gives a ride almost a good, but it has a nice set up. PKI 'Just my thoughts' ManJZ
Meteornotes
Why do so many people consider EGF a "legend"? I'm just wondering... Because it delivers better airtime and a better ride than any other steel coaster I have ever been on. Because the setting is unique, and it is in a nice park. Whipping around in the trees on this ride is an amazing experience, and I can't wait to visit again. EGF is only second to Balder when I compare every coaster I've ever been on. That's saying something, at least to me. dt
Scaparri
I'm thrilled to see SFOG's Goliath debut in the top ten. I hope it can remain a top ten coaster in the future. It definitely deserves it. The one ride that still puzzles me is Top Gun at Carowinds. It's a good ride and all, but it's the worst B&M invert I've been on. It just didn't kick like all of the others. I know it's only 30th but I'm not sure if I even had it 30th on my list. In addition to all that. Is it wrong that many people like Black Mamba better that EGF? I think not, it's just a matter of opinion, and thus, such a poll should always be taken with a grain of salt. No, just like it's not wrong for them to think Black Mamba is too high or that Expedition GeForce is better, because that's their opinion. To each his own. Voting for coasters you haven't been on really screws up the results of the poll!
jamesdillaman
^ I was wondering the same thing. The way the poll is designed it takes into account what you've riden, and false information could only make the poll wrong, even if you think you're doing the right thing. I'm not saying one ballot that isn't valid would screw up everything, but why risk it? Mitch's is one of the only polls not tampered with. Let's keep it that way. EDIT: quoting your own post in the "what parks have you visited" thread: Disney's Animal Kingdom Disney's Magic Kingdom Disney's MDM Studios Disney's Epcot Paramount's Kings Island Paramount's Carowinds Strickers Grove Wonder Park Coney Island The Beach Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom Cedar Point Water Works Cosi Dollywood PKI's waterpark PC's waterpark ugggghhhhh I think that's it Last edited by PKI ManJZ on Tue Jan 23, 2007 11:20 am -james dillaman

TheArchfiend
So I guess this poll and the Golden Ticket make's Superman Ride o' Steel @ SFNE the undisputed heavyweight champion of the steel coaster world. SFNE should put out a park pamphlet with a picture of GeForce on it with the word "PWND" across it. Nothing like a good ol' intercontiental coaster rivalry. On a side note... Why don't these polls ever pick an overall winner by ranking woods and steels together? That would be pretty cool to see if something like The Voyage out ranks the likes of SRo'S or Expidition GeForce and vice versa. Just a thought. For the same reason I find it annoying that you just can't simply admit that you and many of your other German enthuasit friends rank EGF just to spite it. Admit it. Don't be a pussy about it and pretend you're not ranking it low on purpose. That was LAST year! Again, I can only speak for myself. I have no clue why and where others ranked EGF. Do I have to put it on #1 just because others think it is the best? I think not. It is a good coaster for me, one that WAS much better and got worse over time. Maybe because I've ridden it too much, but not only. Either way, I ranked EGF truthfully. It's just MY opinion, why can't people understand that? Why do so many people consider EGF a "legend"? I'm just wondering... Because it delivers better airtime and a better ride than any other steel coaster I have ever been on. Because the setting is unique, and it is in a nice park. Whipping around in the trees on this ride is an amazing experience, and I can't wait to visit again. Yeah, I can understand that all, and I also aggree in most parts. EGF IS unique and so on. I'm just wondering why it's considered a "legend"? Maybe my definition of "Legend" is different, but a legendary coaster for me is a coaster that has (or mostly HAD) something that no other coaster could or should pull of. In many cases that may be negative, but not always. But, it's probably just my different definition, so no biggie. Was just wondering...

larrygator
Well.. "Favorite Wood" finished third to GeForce and Superman, yet on the wood poll Voyage actually beat "Favorite Steel" probably because of the 3 coasters that beat Favorite wood: 2 are in Germany and one is in Australia, places that don't have superior wood coasters. So that combined with the higher % of balloters from Germany in the Steel Poll may have caused this variance.
DATman
I don't understand why Nitro does so well. It honestly did nothing for me at all. I found AP to be better in every way (setting, airtime, etc.). Oh well. Still, looks like I really need to get out to SF:NE soon.
