phazan Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 I actually like this change in weather a lot. I love waking up, and going to my backyard and seeing frozen puddles everywhere, and seeing the hills around me have a bunch of snow on them. It's a nice change IMO. However, everywhere else has been getting snow exept me! It's cold enough, but the precipitation just decides to miss me and go somewhere else...I think it hates me.
GMAN962 Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 ^I know, we're probably going to be the last to get snow. I hate the cold. If it's really going to be this cold, then let some sort of precipitation. ~Mike
Blazen_AZN Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 ^ You live right by me, and its not near cold enough to get snow. If we get percipitation, it will be wet, cold rain. I live about 60 miles south of Valenica, and it was about 60*, but it did rain for about three minutes at my school. That was kindof fun, i guess.
Homer Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 SoCal gets snow and Florida doesn't? Blasphemy!
DATman Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Therw was a little bit of snowy icey stuff in the Valley at about 3... I loved it! Of course, it was mixed with rain, so it kinda sucked as well.
xascher Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Lolz, Here in utter #ellsville, Utah, its freezing on the INSIDE of the cars. And yes, there is snow. It's not very holy anymore
dj snow Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Just a little pet peeve, but... That's not hail--looks like sleet to me! Hail comes from big, massive thunderstorms with extremely high winds aloft. Thus you usually only see hail in spring or summer. Sleet comes about when temperatures are kind of straddling the freezing point. It's kind of an "almost-snow." Felt good to get that off my chest. Hope everyone enjoyed this Meteorological Moment. Back on topic, now... Yeah, looks like it sure is cold in California! DEAR GOD, THINK OF THE ORANGES!!
SharkTums Posted January 18, 2007 Author Posted January 18, 2007 Actually we got hailed on in Blackpool, in the winter, with no wind, and no thunder. It's the weather, it's unpredictable.
coastervekoma Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 It got sooooo cold at my house our pond completley froze over!
Sir Clinksalot Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 It snowed in Malibu this afternoon. Luckily I opted against taking PCH home from Brentwood since one of the canyon roads was closed ... due to freakin' snow. This is awesome!!
Angry_Gumball Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 We actually got a light dusting of a more snow-like substance across the bay. (Why couldn't it have been here?). It hit the hills between the SF Bay and Half Moon Bay. Looks like we sent it down your way.
Corkscrewed Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 It's weird. The climate in America basically got flip flopped onto itself, so that the East coast is getting California winters and vice versa.
dandaman Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 I don't even think Essex County (search for Windsor, I guess) has had a good inch of snow this year. Tonight they're calling for less than an inch of accumulation. ...Guess there's always the annual April "Jack Frost's revenge"
munkyknum Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 I don't want snow, but a cold snap would be very nice. Stupid Florida and your 70-80 degree temps in January.
itsme102 Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 It just started getting cold here in philly. Very surprisng, it usually happens much earlier. But when the cold hit, it hit hard. No major snows as of yet though, only flurries.
Jayjay719 Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Well nothing major but it was snowing here in Connecticut finally! First of the winter I believe...its about time.
Zand Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 We're finally getting our first snow of the year here. And we're only getting 2-4", more typical of a storm in early November than January. They're going nuts in the weather stations because its the first time all year we're getting more than like a half inch at once. My snowmobile has been really sad so far this winter. I must say it is quite funny listening to you SoCal people calling 30 degrees cold. I know it's usually a lot warmer and you're not used to it, but it's funny to me. Most years, 30 degrees here would be a heat wave this time of year, but this year has just been weird. Hopefully this pattern change sticks for a while.
masterofthematrix91 Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I wish we got snow here in Nashville. It allways goes around us!! we haven't even got a snow flurry!!
crazyrider06 Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 first official snowfall of 2007! it was pretty while it lasted. didnt stick in the streets, buti t looked pretty on tree tops and in the grass.. too bad the sun came out and its gone already lol
verticalzero Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 The Uk has just had 85mph winds, 12 people died It's a mad start to the year. I hope we get a Hot summer.
RollerC Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Its in the single digits here with with windchill and theres about a half of foot of snow on the ground and more comming. I'd go sleding but its too damn cold.
the sound Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Pffft, you call that hail! I've hade to go home in hail, without and umbrella. ANd sometimes in Melbourne, with have hail the size of tennis Balls. So quit your complaining. But i'll admit it doesn't snow here...
Zand Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Our forecast for Friday: High: 8 Low: -4 Windchill: -30 It's pretty much too cold to snow. haha.
PkiJake Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Today we got out of school over a 1/2 inch of snow. But the roads were slick ans covered, and 3 out of the 4 news stations weren't saying it would snow. So, the transportation department didn't salt any roads. Lexington schools were out, they are never out, even when we get 6 inches. They have been out 3 times since 2001; 2002: got below zero one morning, 2003: really bad ice storm, and 2007: 1/2 inch of snow. Crazy, but atleast I got out of school!, Jake
