My wife and I saw Mystere at Treasure Island in Vegas last year, it really good. I was suprised at how good the music was throughout the show.

Sad thing is that Mystere is the only show that they cant release on DVD due to some stupid rule from the casino (TI).

What exactly is La Reve? I saw a video of it, and it looks really good, and is alot like the "O" show. Has anyone seen it? I think I am going to try and save up for a trip to Vegas, but I already have a trip to Hawaii next summer, so it will be hard.

La Reve is a show that's pretty much Cirque Du Sol, but not. It's all in the water, it's like diving and such.

Splash is a good example.

I saw one of the shows on a plane to Florida, but Im not sure that counts.

Next time anyone visits Blackpool, there is a similar show there at the Globe in the pleasure beach. Its called Eclipse, and stars Vladmir, the guy who invented and first performed the flying routine used in the Cirque shows. I found eclipse a great show. Smaller than cirque of course, but then it is Blackpool.

Has anyone seen The Beatles Love? I *heart* the soundtrack soooo much and I actually can't wait to drop the cash to see it. If anyone is even remotely a beatles and cirque fan you must buy the soundtrack.

Darnit.

Dralion was playing in Frankfurt, the last week I spent in Germany.

"If I had known in advance..."

Of course, when I did check there, for all the days I was there..... all sold out. Or be on a wait list. Thru my host's home telephone number....

I've seen Mystere twice and O once and hope to see Ka and LOVE at some point and time.

O was my favorite as the stage is just amazing and allows for some seemingly impossible things. Ka's stage might be able to beat that based off of what I've seen it do, but still most of them in Vegas are just amazing. I do like the Cirque shows but I am completely incapable of following the "story" that they are supposed to tell.

Vegas is also getting two MORE Cirque shows in the near future bringing the total to an obscene 7 with one being themed to Elvis and the other to magic. At this point I think they should be incorporated into the classic Welcome to Las Vegas sign because they are taking over the Strip.

I saw LOVE when it first premiered. Good show. The theatre is beyond words. Not that its as ornate as the 'O theatre' or 'Ka Theatre', but its the fact of what it can do! The sound is awesome...three speakers to every seat!

I heard that beetles soundtrack, and I really liked it. It had a more modern sound. I heard though the production is more of a show with dancing, then like a real acrobatic one (although they still have alot of it).

I drove by Atlantic Station, and everything is all set up. It is HUGE. I can't wait to see it in a few weeks.

I've seen O. I love water so that for me was, well, let me just say my jaw was down the entire time. I loved it so much. Music was fantastic, the artisticness was steller, and the overall show was superb. The joke about it I always say when someone asks me how it was, I always reply, "It was O-mazing."

I'm so lame.

I saw 'O' a number of years ago and enjoyed it so much that I would have paid the $125 for the ticket to go right back in and see it again.

I was just in Vegas a couple of months ago and wanted to see Ka but it was dark while I was there.

I have heard nothing but great things about Love at Mirage so that is on my list of ones to see as well.

I've seen Mystere- fantastic

and

"O" which is even better and WAY more expensive, but somehow still worth it.

Heard that "Zumanity" is just so-so

Heard that "Love" is great and will try to see it next time I get to Vegas.

By the way, watching on tv just isn't the same as being there live.

Often times there are a few things going on around the main act that you see peripherally there live but just don't see on tv.

Plus the fact you are seeing a totally live show including the music.

It just looks feels and sounds awesome live.

On tv, it is just ok.

Then again you just might hate Cirque de Soleil.

Often it is a love it or hate it thing for people.

I saw Corteo a few days ago, and I recommend going to see it. It was very good. We had the cheap seats, and you still had a fairly good view, although not the best. All the acts were good, but I think my favorite was the trapeze artists, and the bouncing beds.

I LOVE Cirque du Soleil! I was just reading on the Wikipedia article about Cirque du Soleil that they might build a Cirque themepark in Spain. Anybody heard anything about that?

We saw one when we were at Disney... I remember it being "really cool"

There was some guy jumping down stairs on his rusty bike and a dude with spraypainted abs flying around on an old curtain

I saw La Nouba in Florida, and thought it was wonderful, felt like a dream!

I hadnt been interested in Cirque before that, but now I am, shame too cos before I saw La Nouba, touring productions of Dralion and Saltimbanco were in my city, and I missed them

Dralion was my least favorite of the ones I've seen. It was all young Chinese acrobats. They were good, but it was alot of the same thing over and over. I've also seen "O" and Mystere in Vegas, Varekai on tour, and I happened to be in Montreal during one of it's numerous outdoor festivals and saw them perform there...that was probably the coolest, because we weren't expecting it.

I saw La Bamba, I mean, La Nouba in Orlando and it was quite amazing! My favorite part were the dudes on the bikes. The performance got a standing ovation!

You know, I have never seen a Cirque performance WITHOUT a standing ovation. It reminds me of that Kathy Griffin joke about Celine Dion being suprised EVERY night that people showed up...like they wouldn't?

Hey guys! I just got back from seeing Cirque du Soleil's Ovo in Frisco, TX, and it just hit me that TPR doesn't have a thread for discussing these amazing shows. So, here ya go! Use this thread to ask questions about the shows, review them, etc. Well, I guess I'll get us started.

I have seen three Cirque du Soleil shows: La Nouba (WDW), Saltimbanco, & Ovo.

La Nouba: Every aspect of this show is great. The music, acrobatics, choreography, costumes, and lights were all some of the best I've seen. I don't remember much about this show, but I do remember the giant "see-saw". An acrobat would get on each side and when one acrobat jumped, the other would soar into the air! My second favorite show.

Saltimbanco: While I liked Saltimbanco, it struck me as a play more than it did a regular Cirque du Soleil show. That wasn't a bad thing, though. The acrobatics done in the show were perfect - I don't remember one error. Like all of the shows, the music was live and sounded very mysterious. I'd say this comes as my third favorite show. I just wish there was more dance/acrobatics.

Ovo: My favorite show! The main story was based around insects: an insect finds an egg and wonders what to do with it. Sounds fun, right? While the plot is very simple, this show is amazing. There were quite a few dance numbers, each of which had some of the best choreography I've ever seen. TONS of acrobatics - everything from a metamorphasis 3 stories off the ground to riding a unicycle on a high wire, pedaling with your hands! However, I'd have to say my favorite part of Ovo was the music. I LOVED IT! The tone would sometimes sound relaxed and at other times sound like something out of an action movie - with a Cirque du Soleil twist, of course Go see this. Now.

Overall, I think Cirque du Soleil is WELL worth the ticket price. Don't even think of it as a circus. I can't even begin to try and fit this into a genre.

MOD EDIT: We have a search function on TPR, it's not difficult to use and took me 15 seconds to find a Crique du Soliel thread and merge your thread with it. Albeit old, a Cirque thread exists. Embrace the search function.
