The Alex
I LOVELOVELOVE the drop on Loch Ness Monster. As well as MegaZeph's. I miss it. And I really enjoyed the last time I rode GASM at SFOG.
QueerRudie
UGH- so many GOOD drops to choose from...but narrowing the list: #3: Desperado, Buffalo Bill's #2: Storm Runner, HersheyPark #1: Loch Ness Monster, Busch Gardens Europe Defunct: #2: Drachen Fire, Busch Gardens Williamsburg #1: Hypersonic XLC, Kings Dominion
FeelTheFORCE
My vote would have to go to X. There is nothing like looking straight down at the ground from 200 feet in the air like that.
whakojacko
X2 for me. Its the only drop that has that "Oh *four letter word*" factor and feeling for me. *thus far* agreed. I rode X2 a few weeks ago in the front row and it seriously scared the hell out of me. Definitely my #
DiSab
Millennium Force front row is amazing, especially at night during HalloWeekends. Flying through the fog rolling off the Fright Zone is like nothing else. Maverick is ridiculous. Falling out of your seat is just donright scary the first time. Magnum XL-200 has a fun drop. Gradual, starts out slow, then really kicks it into high gear about halfway down. From the back row, though, getting thrown over the lift's crest is crazy. rcdude
It's hard for me to pick a single good drop. However, I have a best for each category. Most airtime: Maverick Most thrilling: Millennium Force Scariest: X2 Best curving drop: Viper
wilksy5454
Having only been on 30 roller coasters all in Australia my Number 1 is definetly Superman Escape at Movie World!
SFAfan#1
#1. The Hulk front row! #2. Superman Ride of Steel - SFA front row either seat! #3. Mind Eraser - SFA front row left seat (you have to know how to ride a SLC to enjoy them)
chrguy606
Superman, krypton coaster was pretty wicked in the back, but I would have to say that one of the most unexpected great first drops is the back seat far side opposite the direction of the drop on the batman clones. Who knew?
coastered
My favorite firstdrop would be Expedition GeForce backseat. First you enjoy the great view from the lifthill and then with great force you are pulled down the first drop. But the strangest firstdrop i have done was on Sequoia Adventure (Gardaland). This is not really a firstdrop, but the first time hanging upsidedown is very strange.
Groteslurf
Griffon, backrow.
Team Thriller
Without a doubt. Expedition Ge Force in the back left seat! You will not be able to keep your hands up the first time you ride. You cannot imagine how insanely steep and fast it feels. And the airtime is unbelievable. The best way to describe it is being "pulled" down with the train at breathneck speed. 1.) Ge Force 2.) X 3.) Griffon 4.) Silver Star (In the way front, leaning forward) 5.) Medusa (SFDK)
kamikazewatermelon
Definitely Griffon
Speeddeamon128
Behemoth has my favorite first drop. It was jam packed with AIRTIME for most of the ride Millennium Force is my second pick. The first drop on MF doesn't have as much airtime as Behemoth but it is more intense.
thrillrideseeker
Top Thrill Dragster, front row, left side! Its the best view ever, and the drop is so amazing! What? I really like Dragster! Mavericks drop is pretty good as well, I don't think I have ever gotten so much airtime in the front of a coaster! ~Matthew
haiderodes
X2 in the backseat is pretty intense. I also like the drop coming off the top hat on Xcelerator.
Franc
As for the coasters I have been on: 1. Millennium Force 2. Magnum XL 200 3. Goliath (La Ronde)
XII
My favorites would have to be 1. X2 2. Maverick 3. Sheikra
Moose
No question about this one, GeForce blows away any other steelie's first drop. It's not my number one becasue I find the Overbanks boring, but that drop is amazing.
zakkster
ROS, Darien Lake, front row. Looking down 200 feet to the murky green water is awesome.
ginzo
I'll throw in another vote for GeForce. It's by no means the tallest drop, but the combination of the absurdly steep drop angle while doing that funky 90 degree track twist make for a very unique sensation. I'll give an honorable mention to Maverick mostly because its drop takes you completely by surprise considering the relatively short height of it. Divv3k
Yeah it doesn't really get much better than the first drop on EGF. Especially in the back left seat! It's the only thing that Piraten really lacks I think. The drop that's there is good but it just doesn't compare to EGF.
Hilltopper39
Millennium Force's first drop is amazing while the rest of the ride to me is a bit dull but a few unmentioned votes for best first drop... Raptor CP... The only B&M invert that i've been on with that kind of drop, sort of a twisting left dive while banking to the right over the midway, really cool feeling. Maverick CP... insane airtime any seat Vortex kings island... back seat has great airtime and still scares me to death
Vid_w
Katun! Also, does the first saxophone on sequoia count as a first drop? Guess it does... Well, that one gets a hoonorable mention, it's just simply insane...
cycamps
I'd have to say Maverick, Millennium Force, or Magnum. Other than Spongebob at MOA, I've never been on a ride with a drop like Maverick's. That beyond vertical drop is a new sensation. As for Millennium Force, that's the second tallest coaster I've been on, and the massive size of the drop does it for me. Lastly, I don't know what it is about Magnum, but despite being a little shorter, it still has a great drop.
