dawgs396 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Seriously, I'd be shocked if there were 11 inversions. Look at how big the inversions already up there are. Where are they going to cram the other 9? -James "Instead of an air-hill they'd have one there, for sure" Dillaman Why would you be shocked? The large majority of the track isnt even up yet, and the coaster could easily dip and dive over and under current track to fit in extra inversions. Collosus doesnt use a big footprint but fit in ten inversions, and two inversions are already up here back to back. I'm sure theyll be at least four more, maybe up to nine more inversions. ...plus, on Cedar Points website the teaser picture shows an inversion with a ? .... I think there trying to drop a point that they are serious about inversions on this one, some people just dont take obvious hints as well as others do i guess
goleafsgo Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 i would be pretty pissed if this turned out to be a pile of crap like collosus just to break the inversion record with 5 in-line twists at the end or something like that...
niiicolaaah Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 ^Have you ever ridden Colossus? I have, and it is not a "pile of crap" by any stretch of the imagination. Please ride these things before you issue a judgement like that.
Carnage Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 ^^ Only a CP fanboy would be pissed about the brand new multi million dollar Intamin coaster.
HCOSurfer90 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 ^^^^The ? in the picture means mystery coaster, not inversions, layout, etc.
Gutterflower Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 What lift hill coaster do you know of that has been built without the lift coming first? What about powder keg? lol i havnt been following this much but its looking like a pretty unconventional layout at the moment. anyone remeber that launched Vekoma 10 looping coaster? maybe an intamin version of that?
dawgs396 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 ^^^^The ? in the picture means mystery coaster, not inversions, layout, etc. Way to go Sherlock, you solved the mystery that Cedar Point is trying to keep this coaster a mystery. The fact that an inversion is in the background of the ? is clearly an indication of what the emphasis of this coaster is on
goleafsgo Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 or maybe because a ? behind a straight piece of track would be boring. and you should said no sh*t sherlock noob.
Wes Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Way to go Sherlock, you solved the mystery that Cedar Point is trying to keep this coaster a mystery. There's no reason to be a jerk. and you should said no sh*t sherlock noob. You too. If this thread devolves into name calling and trash talking, you are all going to get CP07 bans like absoluteace did.
DATman Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 i would be pretty pissed if this turned out to be a pile of crap like collosus just to break the inversion record with 5 in-line twists at the end or something like that... Except that they'd need to have 15 because of the Japanese 4D...
HCOSurfer90 Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 ^Which stole the record even though it doesnt really go upside-down 14 times.
waterviper Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 i would be pretty pissed if this turned out to be a pile of crap like collosus just to break the inversion record with 5 in-line twists at the end or something like that... DUDE! It's an intamin! Calling an Intamin a pile of crap should be punishable by a permaban!!!
jamesdillaman Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 All I meant is there's a lot of helix track and an airtime hill. I realize there's a lot of track to go, but I'd be surprised if there's 11 or more inversions. That's all I'm saying. And to whoever said it could wrap around itself and there's still a lot more track to be laid: The footers are there, and I'm trying to see where they could get 11 inversions, and I don't see it. Besides, I'd hope they concentrate on building a quality ride this time, instead of just going for records. -James Dillaman
FeelTheFORCE Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 ^Maybe all the footers arent poured yet, then again I might be wrong.
Carnage Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 ^ It's very possible that all the footers aren't poured. But I also think this is going to be a bit more modest coaster. No inversion record or anything. Cedar Point does not need to break any records to hype this thing. They will hype the crap out of this ride no matter how many records it does or doesn't break.
CKY Lunatic Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Are the supports in the back of the webcam long enough and wide enough apart to hold a bunch of inversions like here on Colossus?
BeemerBoy Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 ^ A better question would be....has anyone spotted track like that yet?
Carnage Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 ^ There is two rail track in the staging area. Plus this morning they trucked in a couple straight sections of track, along with a curving two rail track section to the project area. Didn't look like enough of a curve though. More like a transition to a brake run or something.
tinflowers Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Are the supports in the back of the webcam long enough and wide enough apart to hold a bunch of inversions like here on Colossus? That shot makes me dizzy yo.
Robbie Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Some people say thats cheap, but I think thats a cool element, does anyone know where I can find video of it going through them?
dwerling Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 ^ There is two rail track in the staging area. CP_RULES Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 ^ A better question would be....has anyone spotted track like that yet? There were some pics of slightly curving two-rail track way back in this thread, Ill let you know if I find it. EDIT- I found the pic, its an older pic and ironic enough it was in the TPR update.
jamesdillaman Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Whatever it is, I think water will play some role in this attraction, whether only used for themeing or as an actual element (i.e. a splashdown), just based on the area the ride is in and weren't the pumps from WWL still in place, or have they since been dismantled? -James Dillaman
