dandaman Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Mmmm... gratuitous train shots. http://cp.media.cfsm1.cedarfair.com/videos/inside_the_park/rides/roller_coasters/maverick/maverick_pointcast3_IPOD_320.m4v
PKI Jizzman Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 I noticed they were working alot more underneath the heartline roll today...that link inst working here ^
dandaman Posted February 1, 2007 Posted February 1, 2007 Odd, it works for me. http://maverick.cedarpoint.com/latest/podcasts/
CP_RULES Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 ^Works for me too. Pretty cool to see the pull through in progress.
TexTitan01 Posted February 2, 2007 Posted February 2, 2007 argh, what are you supposed to play the m4v file in? I tried windows media player but it doesnt work. Someone help my file-extension-ineducated soul...
RedB Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 ^^ Or you could try VLC. VLC Media Player It's like the swiss army knife of media players. It plays almost anything.
FeelTheFORCE Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 I can't wait to go there in May and ride this thing! It just can't come soon enough.
Satoshi Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 is Maverick in test run? it's only 3 months left to get it opened to public and the park really needs to prepare for its media day.
RollerC Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 is Maverick in test run? it's only 3 months left to get it opened to publicand the park really needs to prepare for its media day. Don't expect a test run for a while. Temps here are in the negetives for a few days. I would say a March or early April test run sounds more feasible.
CP_RULES Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 Some cool new pictures of the pull-through are up at the Maverick site. Looks like theming is well underway too!
PKI Jizzman Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 ^Ineed! They are clearing out an area around the heartline roll! The rocks and stuff
TexTitan01 Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 In other news...I definately see a full-completed train on the webcam right now. Is it the silver one? Do I sense testing beginning soon?
Carnage Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Do I sense testing beginning soon? No, no you don't. It's February and everything is frozen. Testing probably won't start until late March. At least not full testing of the ride. Testing the power and compuer systems, etc will obviously be going on.
TexTitan01 Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Darn...well atleast some activity has been going on. For a couple days they had a tarp over the station, maybe they were laying concrete or something of that sort for the station floor? Atleast thats potentially another train on the tracks!
Carnage Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 well atleast some activity has been going on. For a couple days they had a tarp over the station, maybe they were laying concrete or something of that sort for the station floor? Quite possible. This is the boring stage of construction. Very little of what is going on right now is going to be visible on a webcam. Or really of any interest to many people. Concentrate on other things and then come back in two months.
jamesdillaman Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 ^ Are you kidding? Laying concrete is what Cedar Fair is best at, they're in their element!! This is exciting. -James Dillaman
cprocks22 Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 In other news...I definately see a full-completed train on the webcam right now. Is it the silver one? Do I sense testing beginning soon? Why yes there is a full train on the track, and yes it is the silver one, but no don't expect testing anytime soon. Its still freezing temperatures here so i doubt they would test in them. My guess is there doing a pull through with the whole train to make sure that all the rows are clear. ooooooo train.....
RollerC Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 WIll they have time to do the themeing? I mean they relied on the very calm and warm November, December and Janurary but Feburary is hell up here in Northern Ohio.
ECZenith Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 The theming looked really great in the video but of course won't take nearly as long as let's say a Disney park... It's not like they have to build a whole mountain... just some concrete "mine shaft" walls and other random bits. I don't see why they couldn't have it done on time.
RollerC Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Yea, but from what I understand, you can pour concrete in the snow and you can't pour it when it's below a certian degrees.
Real Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Im pretty certain right now, being totally buried in snow, that that temperature was long passed awhile ago.
FeelTheFORCE Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 The blog has been updated with a close-up pic of one train. Here. The construction pics have been updated with close-ups of the same train and some of other random things. Here.
cprocks22 Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Dang, thoes trains look better then i thought, maybe its true, Cedar Point is themeing a ride
