TexTitan01 Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Hope this doesnt get locked, I didnt find another topic along the same lines as this so I dont think it will... To start of the rounds I am a swimmer, a diehard swim-in-a-lightning-storm swimmer. I do USASwimming (kind of a big deal) and IMO I'm reasonably fast. I swim backstroke & Individual Medley, my specialty being the 200IM (time of 2:12.07). I'm sure theres probably someone who will read this and ask "Do you wear a speedo? Ewwwww!", Yes I wear speedos, but it takes a real man to fit into one of those. So what do the rest of y'all play to keep the fatties away?
Rollerholden Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Do you wear speedos? Last year I did track. My favorite event was the hurdles. I mainly did it so I would feel like I had something to do after school, and not feel completely lazy. It's a lot more work than I thought it would have been, definately not a ride on a roller coaster.
Hercules Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 I'm on the golf team here at Arcadia. I was also the captain of my high school golf team years ago. I made it to Districts twice, but failed to make it to States unfortunately. I'm hoping to make it to D3 Nationals this year. I set pretty lofty goals for some reason. I am also going to try out for the basketball team - back pain permitting. I just got done watching Annapolis, so I'm pretty motivated to get into better shape and hit the gym hardcore.
ECZenith Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Baseball for me, been playing since I was a young'un.
Sir Clinksalot Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 I did 3 miles on the treadmill and 7 on the bike today, does that count? I used to play Baseball, Football, Swim Team and Basketball. But that was a LONG time ago. If my work schedule was more forgiving I'd love to join a softball league or something.
mmousefan Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 ^ just one word: ouch!!!! I used to swimm alot but quited when I was 14. Now my only sport is Zapping
DarkStitch626 Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 I Surf not for a team yet but I might sign up. I play paintball and am being put on a friends local 5 man team.
RBOrrell Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Golf and go-kart racing in the warmer weather. Curling in the winter.
willski Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I used to do everything. In middle school, I wanted be the best at every sport, which was of course impossible. So I have a ton of sports equipment in my basement that I don't use because it's just a bit too small. I did cross country, basketball, soccer, hockey, tennis, and golf (and was on the school teams for all of those sports too-it's a good thing middle school had no homework). Now, I just swim. I'm the fastest on our team in most of the events, but that's not really saying much, since our team is awful. 100 free: 52.57 50 free: 23.75 50 back: 27.91 100 back: 59.78 200 free: 1:58.35 (haven't done it in a long time though-like 9 months) 100 IM: 1:02.34 50 fly: 26.89 I've never done breast because I suck at it, and my fly time is just from a relay. All I do is short-mid range free and some back. My favorite is definately the 100 free.
BeemerBoy Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Ah, sports...now we're speaking my language. I've played a few in my time. I used to play everything quite frequently, but then I got married. Guess that's how it goes, huh? Anyway, this thread inpsired me to go a bit retro and pull a few pics: Yes, those are socks on the beach. Fort Lauderdale sand in august is scorching hot! A little indoor high school action (or non-action judging by this, the only pic I could find). I'm #16, and somewhere in that group is a kid that turned into one of the top 3 players in the world! There he is. George Roumain. A freakin' monster. Even in the pool. Sorry, bad pic. The only hockey one I could find though. Throw in surfing, golf, bowling and racquetball too. Couldn't find pics for all those though. Anwyay, thanks for humoring me on my trip down memory lane. I feel like one of those athletes sitting at their retirement press conference and reliving glory days.
cpfan101 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I'm a swimmer. Swimming has been a big deal for me ever since the 6th grade. I do USA club swimming as well as my school team. Unfortuneately, my school team absolutely sucks lol. --cpfan101
Android Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I'm a 3 Season Runner. XC in the Fall, and winter/spring track.
HCOSurfer90 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I used to play basketball, soccer, and baseball. Now I do cross country, track, swimming, skiing, skating, and surfing.
the_rock401 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I was always terrible at sports during HS, but now I am a referee. I have my MSHSL card for basketball, an ASA softball card, and I do some intramural stuff around the U as well. Paul "STEEEEEEEEEERIKE!" Miller
ParkTrips Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I played a lot of sports growing up, and since I have stopped I think that's why I am so friggin huge now. I ran Cross country and Track through the duration of high school, and played various forms of baseball (little league, pony etc) for about 12 years. I couldn't play for HS though since it ran into track season which, quite frankly, I did for exercise and baseball wouldn't have provided the same level of exercise 80% of the season. I also played soccer and football (which is where my love for the TE came from :wink) when I was younger but neither was carried into my teens.
Satoshi Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 i'm a huge fan for watchin' some sports like x games but don't wanna do these coz just i gotta be worn out. amazin' when tony hawk has got a big deal of tricks in the air though. umm... i wanna be like him yeah!
