Astat Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 I agree with Coasterguy618 This ride could of been twice or 3 x as large with all the room next to Colossos. Why not have it going through the supports of the woodie, make super headchoppers. I have not ridden "Rita", Stealth is the same, so boring layout. I will never ride these, prefer "Air" and "Nemesis" Stealth and Rita are completely different layouts...
Shockwave Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 There are rumors, that the ending will be different to RITA. They will leave out the first brake and will let the train run through a highspeed 180-Degree-Curve before entering the final brake. That would make sense, Rita's brakes were shoehorned in at the end because of the lack of space they had.
thomas2 Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Time to dig up this thread because construction has started. Pictures from http://www.heidepark-pictures.de/# Black Intamin track is soo sexy! Black track! The colours are desert-like There are quite a number of supports erected Theming?

redunzelizer Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 For your convenience (and to have at least one useful link per thread page...) that entire update from the HP Desert Rita Construction Tour on january 12th can be seen here: http://www.heidepark-pictures.de/desertrace/gallery18.html
MrMorgan Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Thanks for reviving this thread and posting the pics. Looks like they'll be throwing this thing up lickety split!
cobra_roll06 Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 wait a minute! according to RCDB the durations on both rides are completely different! Rita's being 25s and Desert Race's being 49s! i noticed that the velocity's are different but only by a difference of 1 mph, so i cant see how that can make a time difference of 24s?
dr.gumbo Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 ^ Its an extended version I thought but adding twenty more seconds you would need about another 1000ft added to the track but Ive never found RCDB accurate when it comes to duration
oriolat Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 ^ Its an extended version I thought but adding twenty more seconds you would need about another 1000ft added to the track but Ive never found RCDB accurate when it comes to duration What? No mate, this is not an extended version... it's just a clone. I think that 25 seconds is what it takes from launch to hit the brakes and 49 seconds from launch to unloading. I still don't see this addition excition (from an enthusiast) but I reckon that the GP's will rush to go on the ride! Good and cheap move for Tussaud's.
RCfanatic Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Thanks for posting the pics/links!, Nice to see construction is underway, the colours look really nice and original! I wonder if there's going to be a difference with Rita? I still haven't seen any official annauncement saying it'll be an exact clone. Anyways, i can't wait to see it finished and when the theming is up.
coastermaniac1 Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 I heard that it wont have the first set of brakes like on Rita so it will go fast around the last turn into the brakes instead of brakes slow turn, brakes like on Rita. I also read somewhere that it will have an extra airtime hill. I dont know if they are true though.
DATman Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 But if it's a clone, then what's up with this support that is on the end of the launch track and is pointing in the opposite direction of the rest of the ride? Clicky
dr.gumbo Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 english.rides.nl/attractie/info/2003 Update from Rides.nl I think were sure its a clone now BTW
StyleStorm Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 As much as i know, it is a clone of Rita. But this coaster does not have a Corkscrew coaster to avoid, so the brakes won't be beside the station on the airtime hill, like they are on Rita, but instead just before the station. So i guess that means that it will have an extra airtime hill and take the last helix faster than Rita does.
Menghini Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Theming at the DR looks better than Rita's!
coastermaniac1 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 The track is complete, there is an extra airtime hill but it has the first set of brakes on the extra airtime hill so the last turn will probally be taken slowly. 2 pictures: I think it looks great and I love the colours.
kennywood!007 Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Oooo yummy. Taking its desert look. I like the colors. They go very well.
CGM Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 That's really wierd, it doesn't look anything like Rita despite being almost an exact clone. It must be because it isn't as high up and because it's in a wide open space
timetrial3141592 Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 "High up"? I thought Rita was low-to-the-ground. The reason it looks different is that Rita is surrounded by trees.
CGM Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Well, yes it's a pretty low-down layout in comparison to other Rockets but the whole thing is elevated about 20 ft in the air
acetcw Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 I think it looks great. It may be a clone but at least they put something new in. I went in 2003 & there was talk of assorts of coasters back then. Has Tussauds finely started to make something of this park. Also is it not strange your Tussauds Pass do's not get you in there park.
RCfanatic Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Nice colors, nice lay-out and nice theme, i'm satisfied. Okay, its a bit of a shame that it's a clone, but it's still a good coaster.
Hattuchili Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 It looks really nice and I am not there to ride it! Anyway, maybe this summer or so!
ECZenith Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Wow, i think that just might be the best color scheme I've seen on any coaster, I love it! Can't wait to see the finished product!
