The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Yeah they were pulling people from it 3 or 4 at a time to fill all of the empty spaces. It took 10 minutes at the most pet ride. We also made friends with some other people marathoning the ride. We had a blast! I also saw the Kwerk show. It was a random assortment of acrobatic acts, but was very entertaining.

Single rider line is awesome on TC. Just rode 9 times in a row with virtually no wait.

The operators are great today

That is shocking to hear. Awesome!

I noticed today on the ride hopper app the wait times are unusually shorter for a Sunday. People staying home watching the NBA Finals?

How were the duelings when you rode single rider?

My first ride of the day dueled both times around. Every other ride was either once or none. A ride op told me that yesterday, the single rider line was 45 minutes. I don't know why it was so short today, but I'm not complaining!

that might actually mean they are bad. for instance, i good grouper could put groups of 3 together in two rows. or, if they have like 2 rows left and a group of 5 is next. they should look to the regular line for 2's. but instead i've seen them pull 5 from single rider. that's when single rider is great. sometimes it's just easier to not have to go looking for those 2's and instead pull from the single rider. that's the person i want doing grouping if i use the single rider line. lol

^^Sorry, I was being unclear. I knew the details of the incident. I was just wondering if there had been any mention of a pre-existing condition.

Still sad news and always a tragedy. My thoughts are with this family.

Given it was reported here that the ride was open this weekend I would assume SFMM was given the all clear (that it was not related to the ride) otherwise it would be closed. Right?

True. If someone died and the ride is already open, that says to me that it was a preexisting condition and they know that the condition caused it.

My money is on another case of unknown about aneurysm, but only since the same thing happened back in what 2001 on Goliath? In any case, it's terrible.

Revolution Ride Statement

Updated 6/15/15

We were deeply saddened to learn that Jasmine Martinez, who was transported to the hospital after riding Revolution on June 12 has died.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Jasmine’s family and friends during this difficult time.

Jasmine came into the ride station unconscious and was treated at the scene and airlifted immediately to an area hospital.

Over 45 million guests have safely ridden Revolution since it opened in 1976.

There is no evidence to suggest that this was in any way ride related. We do not know if there was a pre-existing condition.

On the day of the incident, the State determined it was unrelated to the operation of the ride and it was re-opened. With the latest development, following state guidelines, the ride has been temporarily closed pending a review.

Again, we extend our deepest condolences to Jasmine’s family.

IMHO they need to shut down Revolution and give it new trains and whatever else a big refurbishment would consist of. The roughness and restrains have given countless people headaches, someone has had their ear torn open, and at the very least it doesn't look good that someone died on the ride. *Obviously* there's no evidence pinning the death to the ride. At the same time, I think the fact that unless you go into the ride knowing you're going to need to ride it "a certain way" to avoid getting banged around (and most of the GP don't) means it's time to make some changes.

^ It was painful until I learned to lean forward during the entire ride so that it is impossible to hit my head. Now I can ride it 10 times in a row. But yes, it is another ride that needs Yolo-type restraints instead of the upper body restraint.

Since Six Flags is probably too cheap to buy new trains, they should start a GoFundMe account to pay for new trains. I bet it would fund.
