PKD and Busch Gardens
Swimace replied to rollercoaster1234's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
BGE is one of my all time favorite theme parks. I've never made it to PKD but the park always struck me ass looking rather bland and average in terms of park experiences. -
What should you do on a roller coaster?
Swimace replied to SCHOOL's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, if you're nervous before riding just look at the expressions on the faces of everybody leaving. If you had anything to be scared about then you would be able to tell, but that's rarely the case. -
A pretty boring B&M, but I thought it was a pretty fun ride It may not compare to Dragons or Montu, but got pretty fun after the lame drop.

Best Drop Ride!!!
Swimace replied to coaster_shorty's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have a terrible fear of heights. The only towers I've been on are Dr. Doom's Fearfall and ToT (MGM). Both of those rides scare me within an inch of my life, but it's weird because my fear of heights never bother me on coasters. -
I'm reading like 5 books right now. I'm finishing Utopia, the book about the theme park that gets taken over by mercanaries, It's my second time reading it. I'm also finishing up Crime and Punishment for school. I just started Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness for school but it isn't very long. I also just started Wicked. I'm in the middle of Pirates of the Carribbean: From the Magic Kingdom to the Movies which is a pretty light read. The only two I'm reading for AP Lit are Heart of Darkness and Crime and Punishment, the other three I started on my own outside of school.

That movie is awsome! It doesn't hurt that most of the main characters are hot...

Nice coaster, horrible movie That's an interesting story though

Did you ride that Mack coaster that looks like an Intamin ride? It looks like a fairly rare credit. If so how was it?

I don't think people should be putting too much on how this could be bigger than SheiKra. It's not always about size, and Busch is a perfect example. Alpengeist is bigger than Montu but I thought Alpengeist was a huge letdown. Instead of thinking about how this may have more inversions, I'd like to hope it may feature a wicked airtime hill or something.

Disney World 5th gate; a dream?
Swimace replied to Ghost's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I really like that idea of a villian themed park, that would be really good. I agree with everybody else in here though. Disney isn't at all ready to move into a new park. I think all of their current parks need some TLC before they can look into a new one -
I like Miyasaki movies, but most people just don't know what those are. As for King Kong, I thought it was a great movie to see once, but I don't think I could sit through it again. The movie was just so well done that it was really draining to watch.

The ride looks so weird with those trains, although it hardly makes it look any less amazing -
What Roller Coaster are you?

I'm MF. I wish they had more questions and more end results. -
Farthest back coaster related memory
Swimace replied to Vekoma Fan Boy's topic in Random, Random, Random
I remember riding Thnuder Mountain at The Magic Kingdom when I was little. I had a season pass to the parks when I was in pre-school, so all of my visits kind of blend together in my memory, but I do remember the first time I rode my sister came off crying and I just wanted to ride again and again. -
I'm thinking about reading Wicked, has anybody else read it besides the mention it got earlier in the thread? Also, has anyone read a book by Ann Coulter? That woman is insane. I went to one of her speeches last night and it was incredibly funny! I'm a pretty liberal person, but it still was a fun thing to go to.

I read that back in 9th grade and I thought it was a great book

Whats Your Favorite Disney Hotel And Why?
Swimace replied to Hattuchili's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've stayed at The Polynesian, The Contemporary, The Fort Wilderness Camp Ground way back when River Country was still open (my first waterpark), and The Carribbean Beach Resort. I can't really choose a favorite, they all have different things that stand out about them that make them great. -
I saw this a few weeks ago and I think it's a load of crap. Has anyone looked into the conspiracy theory on Kennedy's assassination? Now that's an interesting subject that is well based.

I always thought that the Stratosphere should have gone for a Wild Mouse with hairpin turns over the edge of the tower, so I guess that's my crazy Wild Mouse concept

You have a point with the crowd pleasing aspect of Pooh, but as the newest attraction in the park, Stitch constantly has one of the shortest lines in the park. Pooh always has a long line because it's so popular with the little kids, but after being open for not that long of a time Stitch will be only 15 minutes when Buzz is 90 minutes right across the walkway. For the record I'm not against all character rides, I like Buzz, I just don't think Pooh lives up to Mr. Toad.

In many ways the Magic Kingdom is a tribute to Walt Disney. I think Disney is doing a good job in all of its parks except Magic Kingdom because they've departed too far from the classic feeling. Adventureland and Fronteirland still remain intact, but one has to wonder for how long. I visited Magic Kingdom in January and many places were downright dirty and unkept, the Disney touch erased from many areas. However, I loved my recent visits to MGM and EPCOT, and although I've only been to AK once I really liked that park too. I don't think Disney is doing as bad of a job as they make it seem, but I can certainly agree with the departure from Walt inside the Magic Kingdom.

I don't think that's true since every park has his named stamped on it. If they don't want to build in Disney's image then they shouldn't call it Walt Disney World. Now I'm not taking it to the extreme of the bloggers who argue constantly about the attractions, but when Disney builds a new attraction they need to at least consider if Walt would approve. Those who have read up on Walt's philosophies would know that there are certain things that Walt was very clear about, and the Imagineers in some cases have clearly violated those ideas. I haven't visited DCA, but I have been to all of the WDW parks many times since I was little and have seen some of the classic Disney magic vanish. Walt always said that if you take out an attraction, you need to replace it with something even better. Does Pooh's playground look better than the Submarines? It's not. Is Pooh better than Mr. Toad? No. Is Stitch a discrace to Tommorrowland? Most would say so. Disney is able to build great attractions without Walt's guidance. Walt only had a small touch on the Haunted Mansion, and had nothing to do with Splash Mountain (my favorite ride at MK).
