  1. ^your old school didn't happen to be ODA did it? They have an annual auction.
  2. I have a couple of arcade coins from the Magic Kingdom that say 1995 on them that somehow ended up under my bed until I cleaned my room recently. I also found a necklace from the Lion King attraction that used to be in Fantasyland
  3. ^Yes, that's the kind of dirty I got from the Santa Monica West Coaster
  4. I though Utopia was great, a novel about the world's most amazing theme park being taken hostage without the guests knowing seems like a book written for enthusiasts.
  5. ...And thanks to my fantastic procrastination skills, I just finished an 80 question packet that was given to us 3 weeks ago. Started at about 10:00, just finished. Now all I have left is a research paper next weekend I read something from him back in like the 7th or 8th grade. I think it was called Atlantis Found and it just came out. I remember it being pretty good, although my all time favorite non-school assigned book would probably be Utopia by Lincoln Child. I definately recommend that to any Coaster Enthusiast who likes to read.
  6. I felt dirty after riding the Santa Monica West Coaster, but that was a different kind of dirty.
  7. This year I've read The Odyssey, The Inferno, The Canterbury Tales, Othello, Hamlet, and a couple of smaller plays. Right now I'm reading Paradise Lost, which is awful.
  8. ^Oh, I see, thanks for posting that
  9. I think both are funny, but I especially like the first one.
  10. paramountguy, what exactly happened to make you so angry?
  11. ^Yeah, I don't understand how Tatsu got approved when that park really needs non-coaster attractions and they don't even run all of the coasters they have now. SFMM needs flats and a dark ride IMO
  12. I voted for ShoubraStreet74, because even though the Scream one wasn't the best in terms of effects, I thought it was funny to contrast a SFMM ride in a parking lot to an AK ride with theming brought in from around the world.
  13. ^ I don't even take Mitch Hawkers poll for more than just a fun thing to look at. I really don't care what other people feel is #1, my top 4 coasters went in reverse order in the poll. I like looking through the poll, and I voted myself, but I think that people are different and are going to like different stuff in the end.
  14. I like Cold Stone, but not as much as Ben&Jerry's. Cold Stone is probably #2 for me in terms of my favorite ice cream chain.
  15. Well the girl who died on Hydro wasn't obese, but other than that incident I really can't say that Intamin is to blame for the bad wrap they get from some enthusiasts.
  16. 2. Dose the fact of knowing most of Intamin's saftey history ever scare you into not riding, or skipping over that ride? The risk factor for an Intamin ride is practically non-existant. If I were on an Intamin ride that crashed and I lived, I would immediatly go buy a lottery ticket. Intamin goes beyond industry standards in terms of safety, but there's just no way to avoid human error.
  17. 4:30- Woke up 5:00- Practice 7:30- Got home 8:10-Left for schoole 8:30-3:00- School 3:30- Allergy Shots 4:45- Practice #2 7:30- Got home 8:00- Ate 8:30- started homework, probably finish in the AM because I'm too tired by the end of the day to focus. 10:30-11:00- Go to bed
  18. I really like that shot of blue fall where the camera is facing straight down at the ground, it really shows how high that thing is.
  19. I've been on Xcelerator and Storm Runner and I voted Storm Runner since it was the better of the two IMO. The only thing that I think Xcelerator had over SR was the launch, but SR gave a better ride over all.
  20. That looks like it would be fun, hopefully the four-across seating will help the capacity problems that these types of rides always face.
  21. I think meatwad is awsome
  22. Very good pictures! I especially like the 2nd one
  23. As far as I know, the biggest challenge the park faces is King's Mill. The King's Mill people always complain about attractions at BGW, even though there quite a good amount of forest between the two. Apollo's Chariot was originally planned to be taller, but the had to scale it down to get approval.
  24. While I can't comment on the 70's, I can give you some memories from the early 90's. Let's see, when I think of theme parks as a little kid I think of The Magic Kingdom. I remember loving Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, expecially the end segment where you get run over by a train and go to hell. Did one track go to heaven? I can't remember, but I vividly remember the train and hell (now every time I go on Dudley Do-Right I think of Mr. Toad because they have an almost identical train segment). I also remember 20,000 Legues Under the sea, although not as vividly as Mr. Toad. I remember the station, getting in and out of the submarine, what the inside of the sub looked like, and I remember looking out the window and seeing a shark and a mermaid. I also remember the ride that used to be where Buzz Lightyear is today. I think it was called take flight, I just remember the song word for word and a tunnel segment that made you feel like you were going really fast. I also remember seeing Splash Mountain under construction and testing. I was also a big fan of the Lion King attraction, but oddly enough I only remember the pre-show. I still have a Lion King thing from the gift shop. From other parks I rember seeing Tower of Terror under construction and the Ninja Turtles characters from MGM. I also remember Horizons at EPCOT and the Sea Cabs from the Living Seas. Actually, before I got interested in Theme Parks, I went back to the living seas (maybe 5 years ago?) and went to the living seas and was like "WTF, where's the ride? I could have sworn we got on a ride after the elevators. You mean I waited to get on the elevators just to see a bunch of interactive stuff?" I was actually just looking for some spare change under my bed and I found a coin from the Magic Kingdom. It looks like an arcade coin of some sort and it says "Magic Kingdom, 1995" on one side with an oldschool castle emblem and says "The Lion King, Simba" on the other side with a mugshot of Simba engraved in the center. I literally just found this like 20 minutes ago, which is kinda cool.
  25. Right now it's in a soft openning period. Everybody who goes to Animal Kingdom has a chance of getting on the ride, although there's no telling which days it will be running. The official Disney statement regarding Everest: "Expedition EVEREST: The Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, will officially open April 7. Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park guests will be able to get a sneak "peak" at Expedition Everest beginning in early February during regular park hours; however, the ride may not always be operational."
