  1. Rode Montezooma's twice, and it does have brand new air gates. There was also new padding on the seats/lap bars, as well as a fresh outer coat of paint on the train. There was probably more, but those were the main things I noticed. Here is a picture of the air gates. Speaking of MR, as one of the trains was slowing back in to the station (after coming down the back spike), a few of the brakes didn't engage and the train flew about 10-ish feet farther than it was supposed to. I've never seen this happen before, but they just unloaded the people, disengaged the brakes, pushed the train back, closed the brakes, tested it a couple times, and opened it up again! Here is how far ahead the train was when it stopped, viewing from the line for the back car.
  2. You know you're a coaster nerd if you read "GASM" as Great American Scream Machine.
  3. How can we rule out it's an Invert? It's obviously not a Dive, but what characteristic of those track pieces rules out an Invert?
  4. I've never been to the Northern California parks, so this judgement is based off of the coasters at KBF, SFMM, Seaworld, Legoland, and Castle Park. Best Steel: Xcelerator. Enough said. Best Wood: I've only been on 3 woodies in Cali, but I'm going with Apocalypse. Crazy fun from the lift to the brakes! Worst Steel: Pony Express. It's short (as in length), has no intensity, has uncomfortable restraints, and is generally a waste of space at Knott's. Worst Wood: Colossus. Although it is VERY smooth compared to Apocalypse and Ghost Rider, the layout is boring, slow-paced, and the lap bars are heavy and painful.
  5. Wasn't there a rumor a year or two back about a flying coaster? Is there a possibility this could be a B&M Flyer?
  6. Thanks for the report! When I went back over Spring Break, I found Colossus to be MUCH smoother than Apocalypse. I rode in the back row, and it almost felt like a steel coaster. Has some good pops of air too (although sometimes painful)!
  7. I would recommend removing the last helix as well... But that does sound like a lot of fun! Heck, they could probably turn the first drop in to a fly-to-lie and make the loop an inside loop, then lie-to-fly on the over-bank, and go from there. Would be a really unique experience!
  8. So with all the talk about the Boardwalk expansion and the TMLR, does anyone have any news about Windseeker?
  9. I have a retainer as well and it's not a problem. I still take it off for rides like top spins or flying coasters, but most rides are just fine.
  10. Any reports on if (or if not) this rehab (looking at the "long" in the rehab here) has made a difference to how Ghostrider is running right now? If anybody has ridden in the front seat lately (where you can see light brownish-yellow track if there is any), how much retracking has there been done during this long rehab? I haven't ridden it since it re-opened this weekend, but you can see some light brown track on some spots throughout the course, notably on the first turn directly after the first drop. I rode it during Spring Break and I was pleasantly surprised at how it was running, so hopefully this rehab has helped it even more! It really is a great ride! NOTE-POV Link removed. TPR does not condone videos shot without park permission.
  11. I've been on 5. Ranked in order... 1. Silver Bullet (KBF) 2. Raptor (CP) 3. Batman (SFMM) 4. Wicked Twister (CP) 5. Deja Vu (SFMM) -defunct- I love Silver Bullet's over-bank, the "perfect" zero-g-roll, and the corkscrew to helix at the end. It passes Raptor and Batman IMO.
  12. I really like Goliath's colors at SFFT. In my opinion, blue track with yellow supports, along with yellow and orange trains, looks so bright and attractive. http://rcdb.com/3976.htm?p=21571
  13. ^ Oh OK. I went back a few pages to check if it's been posted before and so it has. I guess I'm just a little behind!
  14. According to RCDB, a kiddie coaster from Playland's Castaway Cove will be relocated to Fun Spot America. Seems there will be a kiddie coaster after all. http://rcdb.com/11481.htm
  15. So my family and I were in line for the Discover card entrance at SFMM, waiting in line for the park to open. As we're waiting, two teenage girls come by and ask my dad, "Can we pretend we're with you so we can get in early?" Before my dad could even answer, the girls noticed a security guard right next to them and they got put to the very back of the normal people line. It was so funny to watch their faces!,
  16. Montezooma's Revenge. Even on Saturday's during Spring Break, I've never seen that line fill the switchbacks.
  17. ^ I agree! So does anyone know if Knott's will hold some sort of media/preview day on the whole Boardwalk expansion?
  18. ^ It's a custom track meaning that it wasn't created in the game. I'm not exactly sure how they are made, but I do know it involves techniques outside of RCT3, then it's imported in to the game. Just like you would do with custom scenery.
  19. Looks great! Inverts have always been a challenge for me to create in RCT3, and you seem to pull it off nicely. Good job!
  20. ^^ Looks great! They really topped off that loop pretty fast. Can't wait to ride it!
  21. I had a dream that I was on Silver Bullet, and after the corkscrew in to the final helix, my seat flew off from the chassis and landed in the lake below. I also had a dream that I rode Leviathan with those manual Miler kiddie coaster restraints.
  22. It's called Montezooma's Revenge not some silly pet name. Fixed. Sorry about that. Back on Gold Striker, it is looking fantastic! I can't wait to see how it compares to other GCIs.
  23. ^ Don't take Montezooma's Revenge! If you'd like a launch coaster, feel free to grab Pony Express!
  24. Very tough question....mine is definitely something at Knott's. Probably Montezooma's Revenge. It always has a short line, therefore I ride it many times when I visit the park. Silver Bullet is probably up there too.
  25. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Monty's back tower. I love having several seconds of zero-g in the back row. Not to mention, you go from 0Gs to 4Gs in a blink of an eye due to the tight radius on the way down. Love it!
