  1. I haven't ridden so I can't comment individually but this resonates for me. I think B&M are letting parks dictate terms slightly more than they were maybe 6 or 7 years ago so you will see some bigger/more forceful rides but I think most parks know that Intamin are more comfortable pushing the envelope so will naturally go towards them for the more intense rides that enthusiasts seem to prefer. We know that they must (or should) be comfortable making rides as intense as their earlier ones given that they were back then (when they were new), right?
  2. ^I don't think that the problem was the height, or even the loop, really. From what I've heard it was one of the smoothest parts of the ride. The problem was the manufacturer. If you look at their coasters they're all very rough (with quite a few being among the roughest out there). I've only ridden one RCCA and it was the bumpiest and worst coaster I've been on. Oh, that's something I wouldn't mind experiencing. 6.2 Gs is a lot!
  3. ^ OMG that was so funny!!
  4. ^I'm REALLY looking forward to interstellar. Probably going to watch it in a week.
  5. Yesterday I had a chance to drive my first electric car: a BMW i3. It was quite an interesting experience: first all the cars I had driven so far were manual (but then I've only had my license for a month and a half) so it was a bit odd to drive a car with no gears and only two pedals. Then the fact that it was very quiet and also the regenerative braking which means that many times you don't need the bake as the car decelerates a lot just by releasing the throttle. Probably my biggest surprise, though, was the acceleration: it was pretty good. I had heard electric motors can do this easily but only now did I actually experience it (and pretty well as the BMW guy was telling me to step on the gas often ) It's a shame these cars (at least here) are so expensive. This one starts from 38 000 euros while a similar sized petrol/diesel one would be around 20000. I guess we'll have to wait until the technology gets cheaper.
  6. ^Oh that's... . . odd.
  7. Great report! I was sad that when I got in line for big thunder mountain on my last visit to the park it closed. It was my first ever coaster so it'll always be a bit special. My last visit was in 2011 and I remember I got a very smooth front seat ride on indiana jones, a non rough ride on space mountain's second car and a pretty rough one on the fourth. glad to see they really are going to work on it.
  8. I didn't know ka had such mechanism. I had thought that there could be some system to solve that but I assumed most parks wouldn't think it is worth it given the chances of a stall happening.
  9. I'll add furius baco's heartline roll. The speed, the proximity to the ground and even the roughness make it pretty intense.
  10. Yeah, it looks like they pivot "outwards" like the Timberliner restraints...? I think it's a very good design. Well, at least the Gravitykraft version rode very comfortably and unrestrictive. I've only ridden one coaster with those restraints: abismo at parque de atracciones de madrid and while they were comfortable even during the hangtime on the top of the lift (which means G forces of -1G) they were more restrictive than the other lap bar coaster's I've ridden as they hold you in your lap and stomach. Also they would tighten a bit during the ride but that's okay as long as it's not a long time between the end and actually getting off. Overall I like the design but prefer less restrictive restrains like B&M's lap bars.
  11. ^^Oh that's more like it. The colour is looking better than I thought it would.
  12. ^I thought Iron Dragon was pretty boring (it didn't even swing much) and with corkscrew having that classic location over the midway, that would make sense.
  13. It's always great to have the level of theming and attention to detail Disney parks have but coasters really are my thing so I'll generally choose a better ride over a better themed one. CP
  14. Haha! I was going to say the exact same thing. Looks stunning.
  15. ^If it is I would be surprised given that leviathan doesn't even have (for now) seatbelts.
  16. False. The person below me enjoys classical music.
  17. ^Haha! I get it. I would still like to try it, though (probably just once )
  18. Thanks for the photos. These Maurer Söhne lap bars are quite interesting as they are more "stomach bars" due to how they hold you. That ride looks cool. With the intamin this should really be a must visit.
  19. Looks like a cool concept. I wonder what the actual ride will be.
  20. ^Nice! It's always good to know these rides don't just go to scrap yard even if they may not be the best around.
  21. ^That looks like it's going to be pretty close
  22. In what way is it awful? How does it compare to the other 4d coasters?
  23. Great report. It must be awesome to climb a lift (especially a tall one). Good to see you're having fun.
  24. ^Yeah, true. But maybe one day it would be possible to make a more or less transparent one. I know this is unreal, though. That's why I posted it here.
  25. Agree. This looks like it could increase the potential of these rides.
