  1. I think it's a pretty silly idea, and it will never be able to work out as planned. Due to disputes with lawyers that say the CM's will be discriminatory in giving out prizes, the whole "gift-giving" idea has been abolished, and it will be a very mechanical process, in which the computer tells the CM's exactly when and where a prize is to be given out. It was a good concept, but a concept that wasn't possible to execute realistically.
  2. Good: Quiznos Arby's (probably my #1 that I go to regularly) Panda Express Chinese KFC (best thing ever... cheap, tasty, and 100x better than American KFC's) Taco John's Okay: McDonald's Burger King Culver's Subway Bad: Wendy's Taco Bell (I like some things there, but, generally, it's pretty gross) Steak n' Shake
  3. Yay for it being a Maurer Shone coaster... their mice are incredible. Although Disney will never say that it actually is a Maurer coaster, but it's easy to tell from the photos that it is. Should be exciting when it opens, especially like the dark ride part. It looks like it has a good layout.
  4. I had the exact same experience as you did with GASM on Shockwave at Six Flags Great America. It was actually the smoothest coaster I had ever been on- there was no headbanging or bumps whatsoever. I know it sounds really crazy, but it's true. The corkscrews were the best, though. They were taken at a perfect speed and were very flowing and fun. Perhaps it was because I was in the last row, right in front of the train's trailer that has a ton of wheels on it. But, that was my Shockwave ride, and one of my best coaster experiences ever. I was expecting the worst but it ended up being one of the best coasters I had ever been on. It's a shame that I could only get that one ride on it, because in August of that year, Shockwave was shut down and taken apart for Superman.
  5. I just found some more photos of the coaster on the net. Photos from coasterglobe.com. You can see an entire article about pipeline coasters here: http://www.coasterglobe.com/features/history-pipeline/index.cfm
  6. Perhaps he's talking about the Arrow Pipeline coaster- a failed prototype design. This is a scan from a book, which is the only picture I could find of the coaster. The coaster never went into production due to high costs and low capacity and an extremely rough ride. Here is what the book says: Roller Coaster: Wooden and Steel Coasters, Twisters, and Corkscrews, David Bennett (copyright 1998) "Toomer still hopes that one day the Pipline Coater, whose track configuration resembles a DNA molecule, will be built commercially. It is a continuously spiraling car, with the rider being spun in an Archimedes' screw motion, as the car speeds along the track. Will there be anyone man enough to ride it?"- Pg. 54 Seems like the cars would spin, like a spinning coaster, also. Photo copyright Tom Maglione. I take no credit for the photo whatsoever. (Sorry about the low quality of the scan). Arrow's Pipeline Coaster
  7. ^^ What is sad is that all the CGI went to crap for the home video. Almost all the CGI in IMAX looked amazing, and it looked fairly good at normal theatres.
  8. Telemundo and Univision are more entertaining than MTV anymore. And that's saying a lot.
  9. I love the skyride at Adventureland, in Iowa. It is still used for transport, and one-way rides are only allowed. (Unless you get in the line, again, at the other side). It is surrounded by huge trees, goes directly over the log flume, and has a great view of the park. By far the most relaxing and enjoyable rides I have ever been on.
  10. I always like getting my Arrow Corkscrew credit, and I have no idea why. Probably because it's just old, and I like the older rides. Also, I'm tall enough that my head is far away from the dreaded Arrow harnesses.
  11. Viper has no trims on its course. The park simply slows down the chain when the train gets to the top of the lift, which has a two-fold purpose: 1) Reduce wear on the chain 2) Increase rider anticipation before the first drop This actually has very little affect on the overall ride, maybe, at most 1 mph.
  12. Nice. Best TR, ever!
  13. Moser actually makes really good rip-off rides. In fact, half of the time they are better than the ride they're ripping off. Example: Adventureland (Iowa) Moser Sidewider (a rip-off of Huss Giant Frisbee or a rip-off of an Intamin Gyro Swing). This ride is simply great, and is incredibly forceful for such a small ride. Better than the real thing- great weighlessness, forces, and sensations. Moser Splash Over (a rip-off of Huss Top Spin)- less ball-crushing, tight restraints, has an amazing program with some airtime! This thing can move much quicker than the top spin, and has more thrilling maneuvers. Five front filps followed by five back flips, at the end of the program, is pretty insane. Just keep your legs on the bar in front of you to prevent ball smashing.
  14. Eww... the Rail Blazer trains look awful and uncomfortable. It seems that it would be easy for someone to get flung out of those, due to the openings on the sides of the harness without any real bucket (conforming to your body) "seat". Nice TR!
  15. Wow, Katun's are really cool. It gets my vote.
  16. I like the Space Shot out of the Space Shot/Turbo Drop choice. However, I enjoy the Intamin Freefall Towers the most (second gen- ex: Giant Drop, SFGAm). The Intamin ones get my stomach every time, the anticpation is great, and I love the true freefall sensation.
  17. ^ Does the GIB in Europe have the additional seat belts across your lap that you buckle before the harness? Without those, I would not feel secure at all in those harnesses, as they are extremely far off of my body. I always tighten that lap belt as tight as possible because of this.
  18. Honestly, I've never found Scrubs to be terribly funny. Yes, it's kind of a "he, he...?" show, but others are far funnier. I'm glad that Earl and The Office both won, as those are great comedies and deserved to win. If NBC could make more shows like that, NBC would be back on top of the ratings. Other things: - The Amazing Race won an Emmy! Exciting, as it truly is the best reality show on television. - Law & Order: SVU's Mariska Hargitay won an Emmy for the second year in a row. She is a very good actress and deserved the second Emmy. Unfortunately, 24's Kiefer Sutherland took the Emmy from the other lead on SVU, who also is a very good actor.
  19. You know you're an uber-dork when you work at an IMAX theatre. But we all have a ton of fun when we work, and it's a great job. These are our "fabuloso" in-fashion 3D glasses. They cost about $70-$80 a pair, so they really are pretty expensive, and not the el cheapos at amusement parks (Spiderman, Shrek, etc.) They're not Gucci... they're Polaroid.
  20. A 1999 Mercedes ML-320. Has over 110,000 miles on it. What's funny was that it cost about as much as a Four-Door Ford Explorer with the options we wanted at the time. However, I'm sure the Explorer would have puttered out by now or would have had some major problems. Those things don't age well. However, this thing still runs perfectly, and we have had no problems with it. It was my mom's, now it is mine.
  21. I think it's just more in the case of having a good time. People who are freaking out over THIS should see some other websites. I didn't think it was that bad. In fact, it was really funny.
  22. ^^ Yeah, I forgot about that one. The "nosebleed helix of doom" really pushes your harness down, cause it pulls so many g's.
  23. I have more of a problem on flat rides than coasters. Certain inverting flats such as the mixer, the inverter, the top spin, etc., all have automatic restraints that push down far too hard.
  24. OMG! That TR was nearly as gay as the Rocky Horror Picture Show, in a good way. (I know you love it, xxMilkyWayxx1. We had a huge conversation about it in the chat room). Anyway, great TR!
