  1. ^ Some other big airports are fine. Like Minneapolis, San Francisco, Detroit, etc. While it does take some time to make connections (especially in Minneapolis), those airports run incredibly smoothly, especially in comparison to O'Hare. There aren't many delays (other than in weather), and they just are far more enjoyable than O'Hare. We'll see how O'Hare's construction is going when I go there in a few weeks.
  2. Both have their upsides and downsides. B&M- Good: smooth (for the most part), high-capacity, reliable, cool elements. Bad: newer designs "forceless", same old rides again and again, need more elements to make coasters more unique, some use trim brakes too much (Raging Bull, Montu). Intamin- Good: smooth (newer coasters), products other than coasters, forceful, intense rides, cool elements, unique, not afraid of new technology. Bad: downtime, some small flaws in design, "intamin rattle" (which I've yet to experience), moving too fast in terms of technology? If I'd have to pick, I'd pick B&M.
  3. Ugh. United sucks mainly because of their operations at O'Hare. Their customer service people there are terrible, and a ton of their flights are delayed beacuse of silly reasons. This causes the "O'Hare backup" which, after bad weather, causes more than 100 planes to be in line for takeoff. Everything sucks in O'Hare, and the regionals that go there always get shafted the most. If O'Hare would improve, or United would decrease flights out of O'Hare, United would actually be a good airline.
  4. Titanic, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, I, Robot , Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (which is 100x better than the original), View from the Top, Rent
  5. ^^ Interesting... they both used to do it last year.
  6. ^ Uh... yeah. It's just PKI doing some PR work that will make the park look good.
  7. Racing on the racing woodies is one of the most memorable experiences. At least Six Flags Great America does it most of the time. (Although one side only has one train, and the other has two now... they're refurbishing one).
  8. ^ Hell, ACE doesn't even save coasters. Zippin' Pippin' just got sold for only like $2,500. PGA removed Tidal Wave the year after they got the award. Anyway, "Bobonya and Drillin" LOL... best thing EVER!
  9. If you would have scrolled down a tad further on this page, you would have found this thread. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26069&start=0 It should have all the answers you need. (Impending lockage...)
  10. Don't go on a Chance Inverter... ever! It may look tempting, but it sucks ass. Cutting off circulation to your legs is bad. Getting bruises where the harness pins your legs from just sucks. Maybe there was a reason that the Chance Falling Star was running nearly full and the Inverter had a whopping five people on it.
  11. Nice TR! It sucks being tall and trying to ride smaller coasters. I hardly fit in some trains already (think Arrow corkscrew trains... so TINY!) and I'm still getting taller. Good thing I got my Deja Vu credit already... I'm only two inches away from the limit, and only 15. Same with Top Spins.
  12. Well, SFMM doesn't look *that* bad in this one. Hopefully they're improving (at least from Robb and Elissa's last trip.) The A&E show thing does look really tacky. I think the V2's are getting the overlay also, as is Medusa as SFMW... Anyway, nice pictures!
  13. It's nice to see that some Six Flags parks (ahem... Magic Mountain) are continuing to make strides in customer service and overall guest experience.
  14. WTF?!? I'm sure this one will end up on CollegeHumor too.
  15. ^ But the accident investigation showed that there were problems with the structure. Therefore, that wouldn't be a viable solution right now.
  16. Yankee Clipper, an Arrow hydroflume, located at Six Flags Great America. http://www.greatamericaparks.com/sg/rides/yankee/clipper/ It is one of the few hydroflumes that still has the insane jump at the bottom of the drop. That little jump has some airtime, and is just crazy.
  17. I'm curious now. What's with car 4? Nice pictures!
  18. It's pretty nice how Six Flags covers the cost of mailing the stuff back to their owners. Pretty nice article...
  19. Lou, now that blue0ctane is gone, we need someone new to take the title.
  20. ^ Yep. It's all controlled via computer (on rides with pinch brakes), or just by the way it was designed (on rides with magnetic brakes). However, on B&M coasters in particular, trains can pass through trim areas without being trimmed, even if they are on. Because the train is already going the allowed speed.
  21. It's a fun ride. Not top ten material (for me at least), but the towers are what makes the ride. They are actually really scary. To me, it seems like the Deja Vu's have been running pretty darn well this year. Great America's has been up almost all season, along with Over Georgia's. I'm not sure about Magic Mountain's... (although can't we all make a prediction on how often it works?)
  22. Nice TR. The captions were great!
  23. I think the reason the speed is so low is because the train is powered continuously rather than having a launch. (Think PeopleMover). The top speed probably occurs when the train dives down, back into the station area.
  24. ^ Just like SLC's, Arrow Corkscrews, and Boomerangs. Fun for all!
