Adventuredome TR

Inverters = mass suckage. They truly hurt your legs. Really bad. I've never had that much pain on a ride before. -
Zonga, Thriller, Taz
pvcoasterguy replied to buttonman700's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I haven't ridden it, but this is my GP perspective for the day. It just looks badass. In fact, it is a great looking coaster. It is one of those cool designs that doesn't look too intimidating and it doesn't have any gimmicks (like flying/floorless, etc). It just looks like a fun coaster. -
All their coasters with that feature have great backseat airtime on the first drop. Especially Raging Bull, which has an absolutely amazing drop in the back seat.

Hmm. This just screams SFMM. Instead of making things more efficient or better through a park restructuring, SFMM just cuts back hours. Does this really save much money? Not at all. In order to be effective, SFMM will have to restructure otherwise. SFMM's management, maybe? Who really knows. But this park is so messed up (in terms of management and operations) it'll be close to impossible to fix it. And it will be costly. And unfortunately, Shapiro and his crew are unwilling to spend much money. I believe that Shapiro needs to think in the long term. Once the parks are fixed (which will be costly, I'm sure), then Shapiro can spend less. But if the parks aren't improving and actually recieving less money, well, that won't help them at all. In fact, it causes them to be desprate and do things like SFMM is doing now.

LOL. I voted for Jimmy. Cause self-portraits are awesome and it had dracula teeth in it. -

SeaWorld San Antonio Discussion Thread
pvcoasterguy replied to apollo210's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It just seems so "blah" to me. And I know Mack makes very reliable rides, but those turntables high up in the air? I think some downtime will definately occur because of that. It's like Splashboat Plus. Whoop-de-doo. -
Photo TR: SF Great Adventure 8-21-2006
pvcoasterguy replied to gmoney422's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ Uh... I don't think so. Probably less than .01% of the people who go to Great Adventure on a given day would have read this. -
Eww... no implants, please.

Wow... that's about the angriest TR I've read... ever. But that's fine, because it was AWESOME. Nice pictures! -
Credit Cards - Word of advice for you younger posters
pvcoasterguy replied to bgwfreak's topic in Random, Random, Random
In fact, the best thing you can do is to get a debit card. Debit cards have a bigger responsibility factor, as you can see an amount of money get spent, and once you're out, you're out. Credit cards, however, don't really feel like you're spending- and that's the problem. Debit cards = better. That's my advice. -
^ Yep. I don't feel like it's a film a whole lot of parents will want to see with their kids. And, the kids need a parent to get tickets to an R rated film (this is how it is supposed to be, anyway).
-
^ I know. I didn't want to sound condesending or anything. In fact, if we ever got that film (although we never would in a million years), I would see it for the coasters. I think a live-action documentary about coasters would be really cool in the IMAX 3D format. Not a Discovery Channel-style documentary, though. But POV's interspersed with explanations and commentary about the industry and physics. I feel it would be pretty cool.

Huss Rides Bankrupt?
pvcoasterguy replied to gtaylor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's kind of sad. Yet, I'm sure they'll emerge from bankruptcy... they just need a hit ride. Trioka is great, and Top Spins can be great (with a good program); the same goes for Frisbees (which are having some major issues from what I've heard). Breakdances are also good rides. They make good rides, they just need some time to re-plan their strategy. -
JimmyBo and Friends PTR: SFMM and the Alvey Party
pvcoasterguy replied to JimmyBo's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
^ LOL... Nice TR! There can never be enough TR's of the Alvey meets/parties. They are always entertaining. -
Actually, the MPAA limit for use of the f-word in a PG-13 movie is two times. If you go over two, it's an R rated movie. I'm sure there are other factors also, though.

Stress or having too much on your mind is a major cause of insomnia. Try to avoid stress whenever possible and resolve issues to get things off of your mind. Avoid caffine, especially less than four hours before bed. I have found that this is a major factor in your sleep at night. More caffine=less restful sleep (for me anyway). Don't take naps during the day. This also messes up your ability to sleep at night. I actually just had a small bout of insomnia, due to jet lag and other things. These are the things I did. However, if you continue to have this problem, I would definately consult your doctor.

I find that these types of films for IMAX 3D are really just for gimmicks. They are generally poorly made and make IMAX look pretty bad. Iwerks entertainment makes them, which is a leader in the motion ride industry. If I were going to see an IMAX movie, go see a real one. The Living Sea, Bugs! 3D, Adrenaline Rush, something. But those types of IMAX movies are pretty cheap, and our theatre refuses to get them because of the reasons I mentioned. Just my opinion, I work at an IMAX theatre, so I'm pretty up on the IMAX format/films.

Actually, I found Deja Vu was actually unpopular at SFGAm. People didn't want to ride it because it "breaks down all the time" or "it's unsafe" or something like that. Granted, the line does move slow, so it took us about 45 minutes to get through the relatively short line (through the entire queue minus the switchbacks).

pvcoasterguy replied to ParkTrips's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
SFMM's Deja Vu also needs painted... a lot. The paint is all chipped and you can see the light-colored primer underneath. SFGAm painted Deja Vu in the off season two years ago. Why didn't SFMM? Oh wait, that's a rhetorical question. SFMM never does things that make sense (except for building Tatsu). Anyway, nice TR! I really enjoyed the photos. -

Hopefully I'll be able to make it to Disney World during spring break again. The crowds really weren't that terrible; in fact they were very managable. You just have to plan your day and know how to use Fastpass. Anyway, I love Disney TR's. Thanks for posting it!
