  3. True except for RMT; on that one you go up the exit. True except for Ka, this year they moved the flash pass line to the steps on the left side of the station, and there's no merge at all anymore. They changed it this year and now the Flash Pass entrance is its own dedicated entrance to the left of that building with the claw games, and it will let you right into the station near row 1. Merge point before the pre-show. Absolutely right. You can also use it at Justice League and it completely bypasses most of the queue and preshow and dumps you right onto the loading platform. For the Big Wheel, you enter through the exit. Skyscreamer has its own queue for Flash Pass and they will pull from that queue first when loading. There's a few other flats as well that are on there like Buccaneer, Cyborg, and Twister but I honestly can't remember what those ones are like.

  4. I know you guys would get a laugh on this one. Someone at Kings Dominion had a bright idea to have 7pm fireworks when the park was closing, but funny thing is.... it was daylight outside.

  7. Anytime you make a comment referring to an RMC creation that's negative, or even neutral, it has been deemed 'hate speech' by some coaster enthusiasts. Apologize to those you have offended, I guess.

  8. I can't believe how much Toverland has grown through the years, yet still retained so much of what made them super fun in the beginning!

  9. Sounds like a Kings Island accomplishment rather than a Cedar Fair one.

  10. I was at Darien Lake last Tuesday. Reading threads here for the last four years prepared me to be underwhelmed. And I was. The park has no character whatsoever. The layout is strange. Predator and Mind Eraser never opened while I was there. I probably would have ridden Predator but not sad I missed it. ROS was pretty great but the queue was a bit more than I wanted to wait for a second ride. Ops were terrible. Tantrum didn't open with the park, but I saw it was running as I was preparing to leave. So I hopped in line. The queue was almost back to the shaded shed area. Why not cover the part of the queue that is usually full? The sun was blazing and they were only loading the front row of each car. SMH The SBNO Ferris wheel with the cars removed just looked sad. As I was looking for the entrance to Motocoaster, I actually left the park and re-entered a couple of hundred feet beyond. Strange. After Viper, ROS, Motocoaster, and Tantrum, all x1, I bailed. I can't see myself going back unless they add a huge new coaster. So, I'm never going back.

  12. Prob 30ish minutes, which included a 5-10 minute breakdown. The line never stops moving. For all the whining about capacity w/ these raptors, the crew had all four trains on and were absolutely chewing through the line.

  16. Poltergeist shuts down on Monday for a 2 months refurb (reopen on Labor Day weekend from what I've heard) and during that time they are going to repaint the ride, and add a theme, that it's never really had. Mr. Siebert has been teasing that "the new owner" is going to be doing some rennovations (the repainting, and the updated queue), and offering pics of the New Owner about to move in. If you don't follow him on social media, you're missing some great teaser stuff (not just on Polty, but on the new ride for 2022 - there's a big announcement going to be made on Wed, July 28 in regards to the parks 30th anniversary, and what's to come next year).

  17. That's actually one of the really nice things about a cellular Apple Watch (or whichever flavor of Android smart watch). You don't have to have your phone with you but you can still send and receive calls and texts. And it's easy to keep conversations brief ("Sorry I can't really talk, I'm on my watch..."). Plus you don't have to deal with loose article policies.

  19. With such a large crowd, I wonder how fun it was to stand in a two hour wait for something as exciting as their log flume. Yet, we complain about 30 minute FL+ waits for incredible coasters.

  20. In case anyone is coming out to the park this weekend for fireworks, they start at 9:05 both Saturday and Sunday. Best place to view is the parking lot.

  22. I am convinced we are looking at am element immediately after the first drop. . . Courtesy of Park fan VIA screamscape I am trying to be realistic here and realize that while not impossible, I find it not likely a company of this size will install a coaster doubled the height of it's tallest coaster in a park that still has a long way to go to catch up to the caliber of the orlando parks. The inversion looks to be no more than 80ft at that which is still impressive. I think we are looking at white lightning 2.0. The leg facing the highway having the lift and immelman/dive and the small airtime and maybe a large hill and most of the action happening on the leg on the inside of the park.. Again, I am not trying to hype the coaster up so much which happens all too often (especially when the layout is actually revealed) but trying to temper expectations and be realistic.

  23. As someone who is rapidly approaching middle-aged, I find myself in this category more and more. With the initial issues with SV and the locker headache, I wonder how much CF will continue to work with RMC. Consider how stress free B&M's and GCI's are to operate instead of RMC's. B&M's are almost always successful big crowd pleasers, capacity monsters, and reliable. That has to be incredibly enticing for parks. KI's most recent progression was Diamondback, Banshee, Mystic Timbers, and Orion. All of them are huge hits, and even enthusiasts rate them well. All four coasters operate consistently, and I've never seen them closed for the day. The contrast is SV, which is an absolutely kickass coaster, if you're into that kind of thing, but it's also been a pain in the ass. I still think CP made a good decision by doing the conversion, but now I wonder how many aged, rough, and unpopular coasters will be demolished instead of reimagined. Again, think KI. SOB and Vortex. There were no attempts to make them 'better.' They just shit canned them, instead. They avoided a lot of potential headaches and it seems to have paid off.

  29. >>> Tommy G Robertson was SFOMA's Park first Director of maintenance. My Dad was Maintenance Manager under Tommy. In 1977 Tommy moved to Great Adventure after the acquisition of that Park. In the 80's Tommy moved back and was promoted to VP. Tommy just died about 6 months (?) ago. Tommy was loved by his employees. My Dad was promoted to DOM and New Construction after Tommy left. Dad and Tommy worked together on Screamin Eagle. That is how I got to ride Train #2 from the station on first run and how I met Mr. Cobb and Mr. Allen. I have a picture (somewhere) of the Eureka on the flat bed trailer when it arrived in 71. The green train was named Lil' Rock. My first year at SFOMA I lubricated the Train(s) every other day. Learned a lot about Propane fueled steam driven Trains. Good days!

  31. Welcome to the new normal. Summer work nights have consisted of babysitting hundreds of people blocking the streets in our downtown bar district. Our goal is to prevent shootings. 8 guns seized. This past weekend we dodged fireworks shot/thrown at us, while listening to the gunshots a block away trying to add more intimidation. We were called everything in the book, while trying to work a traffic crash with injuries, which required cops from three surrounding agencies to keep the crowd from mobbing in after they tried to catch one of the cars on fire. There are some neighborhoods where it's unsafe for us to go in with less than 5-6 people, bare minimum. Keep in mind, the city in which I work has a population of only about 30k people. This is the worst I've ever seen in the general public, period. It's no wonder it translates into private businesses. The new Illinois anti-police legislation that went into effect July 1st doesn't help. There's your Tuesday pick-me-up.
