NEWS: Robot Land Incheon gains momentum

Postby jedimaster1227 » Thu Feb 11, 2010 12:21 pm

I'd never heard of Robot Land before today, but Gizmodo has posted some news regarding the proposed complex for Incheon, South Korea.

http://gizmodo.com/5469516/a-first-look-at-robot-land-disneyland-for-terminators

$230 million of Robot Land's $600 million budget has been secured. And in case the project never breaks ground (or the robots don't let us in), we have a load of renders showing us what it would have looked like.

Featuring attractions like Robot Water Park, Robot Battle Stadium, Robot Flower Island, Robot Museum and, of course, the Business Incubation Center (as some of the grounds are reserved for industrial services), we think it's a great idea.

Though, not to sound prejudice or anything, but since when do robots have the spending money to bring a family of four to a theme park?

The park's official website includes lots of details about the project, including a good amount of concept art. Some of the better known investors include LG, Pico and Kawasaki. http://www.robotland.or.kr/eng/index.php

I like it! Very close to the ICN airport, would be a great layover!

BTW, 'Dances with Robots' is quite possibly the best name for a ride ever!

"Robot Aquarium: A place where you can watch and manipulate robot fish."

Please tell me Dave Thomas was asked to design this attraction.

This is the greatest park idea ever.

They need to hire me as a consultant for attractions. I have some, um, "unique" ideas. Robotic shark vs. robot octopus, anyone?

Hmmm...the "dances with robots" reminds me of that interpretive dance show from GTA Vice City "In the future, there will be robots".

And is that some Intamin hypercoaster lurking in the background on the render?

Why do I still have a donkey title???

No, TOGO. They're making a comeback. ;)

BTW, the animated film was funny as hell. The only two words I understood were information and roller coaster.

Interesting concept, although I still have my doubts that it'll be built or be a success if it is. The park and complex as a whole look really nice, but I just have my doubts about a park being built around robots working out. I could easily see aspects of this project in a park, but I'm unsure about a park being built around robots. I hope it does, but I have my doubts.

Which came first the turtle or the donkey?

Elissa, a "dance with robot" attraction already exist!

Its "Dance Avec les Robots" (the french translation) at Futuroscope park in France. Its a theme park filmed with movie and simulator attractions. Dance Avec les Robots is a large hall filled with Kuka Robocoasters. You program them and then, you got loud music and a light show. Here is the official page of the ride and a link on it to a video of the ride: http://uk.futuroscope.com/attraction-simulator-dance-with-robots.php#
