Cole Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Not going back for a while now. One of the best rides there, with no line ever. Hope it finds a nice home. RIP
ValleyfairFan Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Before Timberland Twister (or Fairly Odd Coaster as its referred to now?) it was probably the most intense ride in the park, but honestly no big loss. I'm glad I got a chance to ride it, but it was generally a ride I tended to skip in recent visits.
Moose Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 What? The best ride there always has been and still continues to be the Atomic Smasher! I love that thing!
triggernel Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 It's a log flume in a mall, how can it not be the best ride there?
odene497 Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 I hate seeing any unique ride go, but eh, it wasn't spectacular. I would've enjoyed it more if I wasn't trying to keep my camera from falling out of my pocket the whole time.
DJeXeL Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Roto-Shakes are maintenance nightmares thus why Knott's (and every other park for that matter) removed theirs. They are a little uncomfortable to ride in my opinion.
Vffreak07 Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Here are some of the latest photos of the construction fromValleyfairzone.com.
Looty Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Thanks for the update! I don't know if it has been mentioned, but that construction over by Spongebob is for a new slide that is being built as a part of the ropes course. I guess it will be an option to get back down for people who get to the top of the ropes course. Also, the new Gerstlauer flat is being touted by park management as the most themed ride in the park. I also heard a chirp about Danny Phantom and Tumbler not having much time left at the park. They both are high-maintenance rides and together they occupy a rather large footprint.
DanielFaber Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 From Nickelodeon Universe's Facebook! Introducing our new thrill ride, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Shell Shock, scheduled to debut in March 2012! Shell Shock will take riders 70ft in the air in a matter of seconds reaching up to 25 mph. Each rider will control their seat which can rotate wildly like a plane propeller or a gentle teeter-totter like a seesaw making no two ride experiences the same. I'm pretty excited about this ride! It's going to be a great addition to the park.
Looty Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 ^Haha...beat me to it! Should be an interesting ride experience for sure!
XYZ Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I really don't understand a TMNT theme in a Nickelodeon-themed amusement park. Plus, TMNT was a 90s thing, now it's not that popular.
DanielFaber Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 ^Nickelodeon actually owns TMNT now. They are also premiering a new series for it later this year.
SharkTums Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 ^Nickelodeon actually owns TMNT now. They are also premiering a new series for it later this year. Oh ok. I was about to also write how this looks completely out of place and I don't understand. But if Nick bought the rights and is redoing the series again, that's actually an awesome tie-in!
XYZ Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I don't know, I just don't like the concept art for this, it looks odd where it is.
Jerrykoala2112 Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 This is fantastic news! I love TMNT, at least when I was little, and the ride looks totally fun! Should be great.
cal1br3tto Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Haha, you guys have basically covered my initial reactions. I remember TMNT (still) being popular when I was, like, 3. Not surprised there's going to be a new series making it relevant again, explaining why it's worthy of a ride theme. Cute name...I'm generally a fan of rides that are somehow interactive, so this looks like fun.
E1ticket5 Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Is this ride replacing anything? I'm just curious, because indoor locations like MoA are very land-locked.
deathbydinn Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 ^ It's replacing the Tak Attack roto shake.
Jew Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I hope they'll bring back the pizza thrower toy to sell in the gift shop!!
triggernel Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 T...M...N...T I wonder what Nck Uierse is going theme the Gerstlauer Sky Flyer after? Maybe Power Rangers or iCarly Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, true story.
DarienLaker Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 I hope they have TNMT themed pizzeria in the park!
triggernel Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 (edited) Things have been flying along up here. Both new additions are complete. The slides will open this Wednesday, with TMNT to follow on the 17th. Honestly I'd put TMNT's themeing up against any flat ride Busch, Six Flags, or Herschend would do. The thing looks absolutely fantastic! And if the slides are are anywhere on par with the Shoe Slides at the City Museum, I will faint. The taller slide has two straightaways that employees were flying down today. Now here's your Construction Update for 3/3/12: Edit: I hope these aren't too big, I apologize though if they are. Very nice site to be greeted with! Just as intimidating as the Axe. Though I do like the sign, it's just as dark in person as it looks here. I swear to god they stole this design from Spirit Halloween Store's 2012 decorations... I'm not kidding haha. Backside of the facade. Anyone see the hidden Easter Egg? Gerslauter Employee checking out the control panel. Isn't it awesome? Love the pizza slices! Frickin' Awesome if I do say so. Blah, blah, blah, 6 points, same as Axe. Love the shells and weapons! Was great to see that the Mantinence Employees had no trouble flipping the seat. Indoor park... Very cool new Street Lamps! Doing something up there. And that's all for that! Then there's this thing that hasn't been advertised. No word yet on whether multiple trips down the slides will be allowed. Interesting that the slides are shorter... They look mighty awesome up there, should be the highest guest acessible spot in the park. A new one of these was added to the top! So this just recently went in behind the Goblet Toss. Glad to see them rembering the past (yeah right). BTW, he only shot 8 out of 15 They were filming for something called "Fur Real Friends Dizzy Dancers" for the entire time I was there. Seriously children dancing for 4 hours, just straight jumping and dancing. Lot's of security, too. Couldn't even get close with a camera. Thanks for lurking 'til the very end, and "Be sure to check back very soon, ya Scurvy Bilge Rat Scallywags!" Edited March 4, 2012 by triggernel
the ghost Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Those slides(and Shell Shock, but mostly the slides) are F****** AWESOME looking! They remind me a ton of... Heide park's(I think it's Hyde Parks) slides of death!
SoCalCoasters Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Those slides(and Shell Shock, but mostly the slides) are F****** AWESOME looking! They remind me a ton of... Heide park's(I think it's Hyde Parks) slides of death! AMEN! Now only if Green Lantern would spin as loose as Shell Shock!
deathbydinn Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Wow, they really weren't kidding when they said it would be the most themed ride yet, it looks great! The slides look pretty crazy too, but I'm not sure if I would want to pay extra for them. Even though it isn't too much more and $8 for both isn't too bad, paying for a slide just seems..weird.
