It is sad to see such a great park have such bad news. These things happen to all parks.. they have their ups and downs. I really hope they don't leave it like SFNO, however. That would be a sad sight to see. And if that even happened the wood holding up part of the park would rot and go "plop" into the water.

Definitely not looking good. Maybe the owners just don't want to deal with this drama anymore, or is there more to it than that? Hopefully things work out for the better, but I'm not feeling very optimistic right now.

Wishing for a positive outcome here, fingers crossed for a 2012 season... even though it doesn't seem likely.

I just hope that the rides are left SBNO for too long. I know of a little park in NY that would LOVE Steel Hawg. And I'm sure that coaster could help a lot of other park's lineups as well.

So sad to see, hoping for the best.

Oh jeez... if IB closes that would be so depressing.

I always fantasized about maybe going there again one day with a loved one or friends.

Things definitely don't look good, but until they announce they are not opening next year, there is still a chance. When we went two years ago there was a lot of room for improvement. Employees could have been a lot better, and cleanliness and rides could have been better taken care of. I have no clue whether it was an ownership problem, or a management problem. At my job they let go the entire upper management team because they weren't getting the results they were looking for. So while drastic, it does happen. It will be interesting how this works out in the future.

At this point it's all conjecture and rumor mongering.

I don't think anyone should get worked up about any of this until an official announcement is made. About anything.

It's all Dick Kinzel's fault!

If he wouldn't have mis-managed the park for so many years, the park wouldn't be in this predicament now...damn that man!

Oh wait....

I was kinda thinking along those lines too. It's quite possible that may be what happened at IB. At this point, that would actually be good news for the park.

Just wait, a few people here will tie it to Kinzel eventually!

Man, it's been a while since there has been a post in here!

Anyway, here is a picture of the rendering for their new cabins at the park- from Facebook.

I like it, although, it doesn't necessarily "fit" the park too well. At least it's appealing to the eye. Nice and cozy!

I went Memorial Day weekend 2006 and really enjoyed the park. Then I went in 2008, BAD IDEA. The Park plunged dramatically. PS, If anyone wants Steel Hawg, Just have someone throw hammers at you. It'll be less painful and more gloat-worthy.

^^I wonder where the cabins will be located. I was there last summer and I didn't see any available space for new lodging. Some of the cottages looked pretty old, maybe they tore some of those down.

Just saw some bad news on Screamscape:
I’m not sure what is going on at Indiana Beach, but from the sound of the rumors going around, nothing good is going to come out of this. According to one source, the park laid off most of the maintenance staff this past week, along with several park directors.

As far as the protest movement page, the latest quote about the status of things posted there the other day reports that the meeting between the owner and staff never took place and now seems like it never will. It was also reported here that “the power to the park and campgrounds has been shut off. In addition to that they recently laid off most of their maintenance staff, people they absolutely needed to have working on fix the park for next year. Just today they laid off the Directors of Operations and another Director, two of the last people actually trying to make positive changes and work for the beach and the employees. At this point, there looks to be absolutely NO focus on readying the park for another season.”

With everyone done up to this point I have to wonder if Indiana Beach will be ready to open at all for 2012.

I really hope IB is able to open next year, but this has me worried.

This is not good, hopefully the problems get resloved, but please don`t turn it into a post-apocalyptic amusement park like SFNO.

You are responding to a post that is over four months old, and is now out of date. Please pay attention next time.

Steel Hawg is painful? Thats interesting, Green Lantern here in Australia is very comfortable. Is it because of the old over the shoulder restraints the other El Loco's have?

I found find Steel Hawg a bit uncomfortable, but not painful when I rode it.

Looks like Rocky Mountain Coasters is working on the Cornball Express and other changes are being made around the park like the Water Swings moving back to their original location.

In regards to the track work - stay tuned. IB Crow is waiting for a delivery from Rocky Mountain.

Also, the Falling Star will be operational. It will be placed next to the Music Express.

The paddle wheel is being taken off for repair and a new coat of paint

Yay for an operating Falling Star! The old school magic carpet rides seem to be dying out, and that was one of the best. Also glad they're reinstating the Water Swings, as they had promised last season. For some reason I was looking that up a few weeks ago and had been disappointed to see that it hadn't happened yet at that time.

^^News to me as well, I always thought Cornball Express was a way above average coaster for it's size, some Rocky Mountain love and care can on'y be a good thing right?

Hoosier Hurricane was always kind of a meh experience to me, now that thing could use a serious Rocky Mountain overhaul. Before long I'm going to start to think any wooden coaster that hasn't been rocky mountain'd, needs to be rocky montain'd.

From What I've heard, All the wooden coasters are getting RMC Track. Anything to lower operation costs to use that money for anything besides park improvements. Indiana Beach, Proving Once again Mt. Olympus isn't the only park that go from great to sad in 5 years.

Isn't installing RMC track an improvement?
