DragonKhan Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 (edited) Hey everybody! This thread is simple! Rather than having a million little threads about everything that goes on at Movieland Studios, this thread is designed to consolidate it all into one user-friendly thread. Feel free to use it to post updates, trip reports, questions, comments, and of course, general discussion. For pictures and videos of the park as well as past updates, see TPR's Park Index Movieland Studios. Movieland Studios Offical Website Below are some links to past updates from the park, you may be interested in. Blastaman Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 the new free fall tower is the same that there is at Six flags Magic Mountain! We are very happy here in Italy about this new ride @ Movieland (Movie Studios Park)
martinb Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Thats one of them crazy drop towers that M&D's Scotland Theme Park are getting! There was a lot of confusion when the planning permission details were released on this ride, as it says it was a drop tower with a 40m height and a 60m lenght!
rollermonkey Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 ^Um, I am a little underwhelmed by this. A bunch of older generation rides and copies of shows done else where. Yawn. Even odder is Gardaland trying to pass off Sequoia Adventure as new for 2006...
Blastaman Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 ^Um, I am a little underwhelmed by this. A bunch of older generation rides and copies of shows done else where. Yawn. Even odder is Gardaland trying to pass off Sequoia Adventure as new for 2006... Last year sequoia has had many problems... for this, Gardaland will try to pass it as new for 2006... i know that it's strange.....
aflack Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Any idea whats happening to that other park being built outside of Rome? The artistic rendering made it look amazing!
DragonKhan Posted March 9, 2006 Author Posted March 9, 2006 Okay, apparently most people here cannot appreciate a Intamin First Gen Freefall! They're disappearing everywhere! So I'm REALLY happy that they GET one of them. I for one love them!
COASTER FREAK 11 Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Maybe they redesigned the ride to be smoother. The ride is wasome and i love the one at SFMM but it ca hurt sometimes. If the thing only had something more like a coaster track to ride on...oh well.
ECZenith Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Is this a used Intamin 1st gen or is it brand new? I would think it would be appreciated at that park.
Xtreeme79 Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 Wow. I must say that any park I go to that has a 1st Gen. Free Fall tower is 'ok' by me. I absolutely LOVE those rides. From the extremely fast lift through the structure to the extremely quick drop. Personally, I find that these rides drop faster than the new type towers. I rarely lose my stomach on the new towers, however every time I ride the 1st Gen. towers my eyes are watering at the bottom. Anyways, awesome for them, I'm glad to see one being put back up then all the ones coming down. --Nick
viking86 Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 I have never been on a 1st gen Intamin droptower, but Ive seen plenty of videos and I must say that they look far scarier than any other drop towers I have seen. I also think that this ride will be a nice addition to MovieWorld really needs something to keep people coming back because once you have seen the shows there isnt really that much to do in the park.
coasterguy618 Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 It was probably Dare Devil Dive from Cedar Point.
nannerdw Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 1st gen. freefalls are absolutely amazing! I don't think they are rough at all, but they are really intense. Freefall @ SFOG provided some crazy -g's. What's really cool about these rides is that the airtime somehow seems to continue even during the transition from vertical to horizontal. It just feels strange to ge pushed back into the seat and pulled up into the OTSR at the same time. It is a truly unique experience.
PhishyBrewer Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 It was probably Dare Devil Dive from Cedar Point. Or it could be from some radom park in Japan. They have freefalls EVERYWHERE is Japan. Did Nasty Hyde's even sell???
DerekRx Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 I'm not sure if Hyde sold or not. Still, kinda cool that 20 some years after they first became available, they're being sold and touted as new rides to draw in the crowds. You know you've built a good thrill ride if its still exciting 20 years later. I bet Joey is sad they went last year and not this year.
haux Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 It was probably Dare Devil Dive from Cedar Point. What the heck is Dare Devil Dive? I bet this is Mr. Hyde's Nasty fall. I thought it was sold. Demon Drop at Cedar Point wasn't sold, so it's probably still there.
karrat22 Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 It is Drop of Doom, the one from the West edmond Mall
coasterguy618 Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 ^^Oops! I got the name mixed up. I'm not to fond of any flat rides at CP. Sorry for the mixup!
thomas2 Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 I was searching ebay yesterday, and I found this http://cgi.ebay.it/attrazione-roller-coaster-tokaido_W0QQitemZ170026347601QQihZ007QQcategoryZ9712QQcmdZViewItem Looks like Movieland Studios Italy is going to get rid of there only coaster 'X Speed'. If this is good only the future will tell... So if anyone want to surprise a coaster enthusiast with a great gift: Now's your chance! Bid now
Golfie Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Kiddie coaster for Jeff Johnson's birthday... check!
Shockwave Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 From the shots on the TPR Euro-Extravaganza DVD, it seems like the powered coaster was just stuck away at the back and didn't get the lavish treatment that the other areas of the park got.
Meteornotes Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Yeah, it was a powered coaster. Hopefully they'll buy something cooler with the cash. This park is a really cool place. I don't think any of us on that trip expected to have as much fun as we did there. It was the highlight of Italy for me. Well, that and Katun... dt
viking86 Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Good riddance if you ask me! The entire X-section of the park was total crap! Hopefully the park will add some better rides/theming to that area. If they manage to attract more visitors they might be able to improve their amazingly horrible operations aswell...
