Intamin Accelerators

Ive been on TTD an StormRunner. I have to say its a toss up for me. Sure, Runner has a layout with a nice headchopper on the drop, and like a billion inversions , but theres just somethng about going 120mph straight down a 420 foot drop This year I may get a chance to ride Kingda Clone, so you never know...*votes Dragster for being a CP fanboy*

So far i've just ridden Rita, and probably soon enough Stealth too, so my opinion's kinda decided for me. I'm really looking forward to riding Speed Monster this year though, it looks very sexy, I just hope i'm not overhyping it to myself. Of course, TTD & KK will be quite a thrill when I get them next year too, and i'm looking forward to them for that reason, the sheer thrill and scale of them.

I've been on Xcelerator and Rita. Xcelerator is hands down the better coaster.

I have only been on Volcano... which isnt on there...

 

Volcano is an LSM Launch and not Hydraulic.

 

I've been on TTD, Xcel, and SR. Storm Runner is my favorite because of the layout and wicked airtime in the frontseat. Xcelerator has a more intense launch to me than TTD(which is more drawn out), so Xcelerator is #2.

3. TTD

4. Kanonen

 

Hypothetically, I would most likely put Kingda Ka on the same level as TTD, Superman on the same level as Kanonen, and Speed Monster on the same level as Storm Runner.

My vote goes to Volcano, which isn't listed. No one said it had to be a hydralic launch coaster

 

I took a ride on dragster in August '05, and although it was fast, it was over and done in less than 20 seconds.

 

I prefer a layout over a 20 second thrill any day of the week.

I agree with you, Rita was way more intense than Kanonen, although Kanonen was intense too! But nothing beats Rita's airtime

I want to reserve my vote. Having only ridden the mediocre Rita: Queen of Speed I don't feel it is right to vote for it.

 

The ride itself does have some incredible airtime. It really is very forceful! It's just a shame you get pulled down straight away.

Doesn't Intamin refer to these rides as "Rocket Coasters?" I've never heard a reference to "Accelerators," even though their first one is actually called "Xcelerator," though.

I think Intamin changed the ride 'name' to Accelerator after a couple of years of building them, around the time when they started to do more with the layouts, rather than just 'rocket' them skywards. About Storm Runner opening time I think it was.

I voted Xcelerator because

1. It's the only one I've been on

2. The forces at the launch are INSANE

3. The airtime in the back over the top hat is AWESOME

4. The front row view is UNBEATABLE

My order would be Xcelerator,TTD,Storm Runner. TTD just goes over the top hat far too slowly. I prefer getting glued to the lab bar like on Xcelerator.

I lean way over to TTD because:

 

1. The launch is completely overwhelming

2. It was a world record breaker

3. I like dragsters

4. I like Cedar Point

5. It is pretty damn tall

6. It's not KK

7. It broke 400 feet

8. The restraints are soooo comfortable and easy to move around in

9. It's fun to just stand by and watch the trains rocket by you

10. It is the "centerpiece" for the park

11. I like the colors

12. I like the theming

13. My first Rocket coaster

I think rocket coasters are the name we gave em, but Intamin has had it listed on its sit as accelerator coaster for as long as its been listed on the site which happened shorly after dragster if I recall.

To think just a few years ago I had been on all the Accelerators there were. I've been on TTD, Xcelerator, and Storm Runner.

 

of the three I like Storm Runner the best.

Superman Escape because I rode it 20 times in a row and never got bored. PLUS DARKRIDE THEMEING! HELL YEA I'm a movieworld fan boy aswell

I put Xcelerator, just because it's amazing. Perhaps the best outside tophat EVER. The speed and airtime over the top of that thing is perfect, not rushed, but not so slow I feel like I'm not going to top the hill (though that would be cool).

 

But obviously Superman The Escape gives Xcel. a run for its money. That thing is just amazing. I mean seriously 100m.p.h. The only other time I've been moving that fast (airplanes excluded) was in my dad's 1970's diesel MBenz. The best part though, I think is the airtime, not the speed. 6.5 seconds of NOTHING - it's just great. It is so amazingly quiet up there when the car gets down to zero.
