p. 74: Tropical Americas land announced!

^ Please don't tell people what they should or shouldn't be saying about a ride. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and NO ONE here should be criticizing anyone else for having one. Regardless if they have ridden it or not.

That's right--everybody is entitled to an opinion.

Since I helped derail the topic, I'll try to get it back on topic.

So umm..., How bout that Bird? (Speaking of the bird, does it have some sort of technical purpose? Its really a cheap looking effect, but i love it)

When will everyone here get a chance to ride this thing for real(since seeing the video and riding the ride are obviously completely different experiences)? I'm really curious to hear reactions about it.

^ Just like Robb, I think people can have their own opinions about things. Remember, this is a free country, not some country with no freedom. Personally, I think this ride looks awesome.

You obviously didn't hear that Samuel Alito passed the judiciary hearing this morning. That's one step toward our freedoms being taken away. Soon we'll have bush telling us how great or bad EE is and we wont have anything to say about it. Cause his word will be law.

You're right, they are completely different experiences. I can fake airtime by hopping out of my desk chair. Otherwise...

(EDIT: Already taken care of, thankyou Wes...)

The "official opening" is supposedly around Earth Day, that being April 22. But the soft openings have already started with Disney staff, designers, close family, and those pass holders that can, etc. So I would be surprised if you didn't get the chance to ride E:E when you got there....

Additional note: By the way, they have the right to not open E:E whenever they want to, up to the Opening Day, ok? This is what "soft openings" are all about. Testing, feedback, fine tuning, etc. So unfortunately, nothing will be certain until you get there, unless you get there after April 22, lol.

Hi everybody.

Thought I would post up another post as most are familier with the ride and such I wont detail but do have lots of photos from today 1-26-06.

This morning I attended the Annual Passholders Sneak a Peak preview on Expedition Everest at WDW Animal Kingdom. There were several thousand pass holders on hand for the first peak at the new coaster. The Q and entrance to the ride are just amazing all the themeing is just

incredible. The ride itself is a great family ride with alot of zip. The back ward part is the best all though the helix on the backside of the mountian is pretty nice and has some decent G's. Overall I think they have a hit, the ride is very smooth and has some surprising elements. The Yeti inside the mountian, the one that is robotic is pretty cool looking. You get a pretty good look at him as you wiz by him. Anyway I have posted 30 photos from today encluding most of the buildings, alot of theming, lots of photos of the mountain and some onride photos. It was a great day out at WDW.

Ive been thinking about everyones complaints about the lack of the yeti!!!

Actually you do get a good look at him. It may not be a direct look but you do see a shadow of what the yeti is doing pretty clearly!!

But since its all about the actual yeti everyone is talking about.....

I think they could of done something like the matterhorn where you see the actual yeti for a good moment screaming at you as you go past it then fly bye it at the end again like they have it now!!!

Or instead of watching a shadow of the yeti, they could of had him sitting up there in a big hole and look up at you just as the train comes up, it stares at you a bit and then starts to scream as he comes charging at you, just as he does that, the train releases!!!! I think this would of worked great!!!

I was talking to my friend that works at the park yesterday. He told me that up until a few days ago, the Yeti's movements weren't working at the level they were intended to work at.. And now they are working 100% and there is a noticable difference.

Is there anyone on here that has ridden E:E when previews first started, and then again within the past few days? If so, has the Yeti changed at all?

I haven't been back, but I thought he was programmed horribly during CM previews. He wasn't the least bit impressive, just waving his arm up and down. Hopefully they've improved it, otherwise, he wasn't worth hyping. Althought considering how long you see him, I'm not sure how much of a difference it can make.

Yes, there's an on-ride photo. I didn't see the monitors anywhere when I got off the ride, but I know it'll have them. There's already a little queue set up for it in the gift shop.

I'm not sure if this has already been asked but does EE have an On-Ride Photo? Most WDW rides seem to have one but I could not spot on one on the videos of this ride. Are there future plans for adding one or is there just not going to be one?

It sure does, it takes the picture while the Yeti is looking down at you. While I did see the flash from the camera, the Everest CMs said that it was not working yet. Maybe today it will be working.

Gosh, I do take too many pictures. It was being used another another cash register that day.

^^Yeah I kind of felt that this ride (from the videos) lacked theming. Sure it looks awesome off ride. The mountain looks great! But once actually on the ride, the only three places with theming (from the video) was the dead end track part, the Yeti, and some of the chain hill. I had not read much on the ride before I saw the video but I was expecting more stuff in the mountain. I was hoping for a cool soundtrack during the ride and maybe some lighting effects during the backwards part (similar to the lighting effects in the coaster portion of ROTM). The first video I saw I thought to myself, "That was it? All that hype for that?". It seemed really dull but maybe I just had high hopes or hopefully it will get better before the official opening!
