kraken613 Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 I think its just going to be generic. Thats what Six Flags does best!
TheRapidsNerd Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Kanonen (sp?) has a bit of a stunt man theme, by way of being shot out of a canon. It just amazes me that a woody could fit into a space that small. EDIT: ^Doh!
Vffreak07 Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Awww. That brings back my memories of seeing Renegade getting built. I'm happy for everyone whose excited for this! I know the joy of getting something fresh, new, and exciting. And although the wait til opening day may seem trillions of days away, it's all worth it after the first ride.
kraken613 Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 ^ I cant wait to ride Renagade one day! Too bad this one is a clone. Still good though because not many people have ridden it!
CP_RULES Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Too bad this one is a clone. Evel’s about six feet shorter, a few mph faster, but layout wise what from what I can tell the only difference is that at the end of the second “out” run, Evel adds another set of track cross-overs and will pass under the first drop, taking that final far turnaround from left to right. Other than this one point, allowing for a slightly longer straight run of bunny hops on the return trip, the rides look fairly identical... You lose.

I can't wait to ride EK. I just hope it opens ahead of schedule but if it doesn't I'll just have to wait till May. ^ I cant wait to ride Renagade one day! Too bad this one is a clone. Still good though because not many people have ridden it! Although VERY similar, EK is not an exact clone of Thunderbird. There are some minor differences. Quote from Screamscape. One of our readers in Finland noticed something very interesting about the new Evel Knievel coaster going to Six Flags St. Louis… that it’s a damn near copy of Thunderbird in Finland’s Powerpark. There are some minor statistical differences (Evel’s about six feet shorter, a few mph faster, but layout wise what from what I can tell the only difference is that at the end of the second “out” run, Evel adds another set of track cross-overs and will pass under the first drop, taking that final far turnaround from left to right. kraken613 Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 Im not saying its bad that its a "near" clone but an original layout would have been nicer because GCI's layouts just get better and better.
robbalvey Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Here are some new photos taken on Friday sent to us by: http://sixflagsstlouis.net/ Click the above link for even more great construction photos! Looks like a first drop? You can see Batman in the background! Nice overview of the area.
bigstevet07 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Thanks for the pics Robb! Am I looking at this wrong, I thought it was going to be further back in the park. But, from the angle where you can see Batman, it looks like it will be towards the front. Doesn't matter though, can't wait to get down there this summer.
Team Thriller Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 That looks a lot like the new Tripsdrill coaster. Maybe they have very similar layouts. But anyway, looks awesome! Thanks for sharing that Robb! --James
Rollertoaster Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Yeah, I think it's going in right in the front of the park. You can see it's right next to the log flume (that thing used to look SO big to me), and apparently they're rerouting/removing the Moon Antique Cars from the look of the first picture (it looks like the Moon cars track is in the foreground). I can't wait to get to my first "home park" again to ride this. If only they had these coasters when I was growing up...
Evan1127 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Those are nice photos. We have some from Monday up on the Intern Site if anyone is interested.
masterofthematrix91 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 NIce Pics!!! but as usual I will be unable to go on it masterofthe "I havent been to a park in over 2 years" matrix91
coastercrazed49 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Looks cool. That area looks nice hopefully the coaster will be just as good. Can't wait to see more.
Six Flags Addict Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Can't wait to ride this in the spring!!! I also am looking forward to seeing how they're going to re-route the Moon Cars.
spaceace12 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 This coaster is located right near the front of the park. If you go left at the entrance plaza and take the first left, it located just past where the Wii zone is/used to be, Right next to the log flume and not far from Mr. Freeze. I can't wait for this to open, I already have my SP for 2008 processed with parking on it.
MisterP Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Just drove by last weekend on Highway 44. Its right in front, which I love because its gonna OWN the vista of the park from the highway. Is there a better freeway view of a park (and all 5 of its major coasters) than SFSTL?
PURE Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 ^Yes. I so want one of these were Psyclone used to be...
MisterP Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 ^I knew someone had to be argumentative when I said that. When a park has 63 coasters, its hardly fair.
PURE Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 ^Sorry. Couldn't help myself. What's a bummer is that Batman, Riddlers and Deja Vu is cut off in that photo, cause you can see them pretty clearly as well.
MisterP Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 You can see like 8 of their coasters from Honolulu.
sam06pr Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 ^Yes. I so want one of these were Psyclone used to be... Well if Deja Vu is removed I think a bigger "one of these" would be more awesome...like the one that is going to California's Great America in 2009.
Blink Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 To the right of Scream would make a good construction site for a coaster.
PURE Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 ^^Deja Vu isn't going anywhere. ^It'll never happen. There's maintenance sheds, storage sheds, employee training rooms, a lot of people in there doing work. There's plenty of other places in the park to put roller coasters.
Six Flags Addict Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Although I would of much rather seen the park use some of its excess land (they're currently only using about 1/3 of the land they own), I really like the spot where they put EK because that area of the park usually doesn't have a lot of people and can be dead at times so this will definitely help generate traffic in that area.
