Bolliger&Mabillard
^I really hope Knott's just gets rid of GhostRider. I can't believe how effing amazing El Toro is, and there's only one pre-fab inthe US...
texcoaster
coastercon.com has a bunch of new pics up, including a LOT of shots of the steel support beams and the way they're attached to the wood structure. There are also a few tasty shots of the tunnels and the magnetic MCBR.
Zingoman
I do realize that I am in the minority here but I actually like rattler a lot and as for ghostrider, I have not ridden it since 2001 but man oh man what a ride! I doubt I would hate it now either but if they can smooth out the ride with topper track then there is absolutely no reason to get rid of it. It was an amazing ride and can be again. As for El Toro, it's a great ride and it is made of wood but might as well be steel. It runs like a steel coaster and feels like one so I can't compare it to other Woodies. A wood coaster is supposed to shake and rattle and feel out of control and El Toro does none of that for me. Just my opinion. Like I said, I am the minority. I'll get to it someday, but it's not a high priority.

coasterkyle
I feel the same way Greg, I guess you could call us Traditionalist. Dont get me wrong, El Toro is one amazing ride but deffinatly not my fav wooden coaster. Now let the jaws drop to the floor, but for me Mean Streak is higher on my wooden coaster list then El Toro. But I guess we all have diffrent reasons as to why we rate coasters the way we do and what we like in coasters. I guess I would put El Toro in its own catagory if I had too. christianscoasters
Rattler is the biggest piece of crap. It's unbearably rough. I hate that ride! But it's perfect for Rocky Mountain Construction. The layout is great, and given how much TG was changed, I'm sure Rattler would be one hell of a great ride. The tunnel through the cliff is amazing. In other news... I'm so glad I got to ride Texas Giant in it's final year. I'm looking forward to New Texas Giant!
coastermaniac
The new Texas Giant looks sweet; I wish I could ride it but it seems like I won't have the chance for a while.
BrandonR
Agreed, Rattler is utterly terrible. Next to Son of Beast, I've never had a ride induce that much back pain and that many headaches. And to counter its roughness, the . You'd think with as it would absorb some of the roughness, but alas... I agree, the Rattler would be a great treatment for the RMC-treatment. Zingoman
I agree Rattler needs the RMC treatment but in the way of topper track and bringing back the first drop. The helix is not as bad as it looks in the video (believe me, for many many years I thought that helix looked like a boring waste of lumber until I finally rode it and was somehow surprised) and if it were trimless, and the top level given some hills again it could be pretty fun. 10 Million bucks on Rattler would not give it a total makeover like Giant but it would definitely fix it's dull spots and bad reputation! I bet they could spend just 5 million to get the ride up to par. P.S. this makes me laugh ------>

You must be on drugs liking Mean Streak at all. I pray for this ride to end on the rare occasions I grace the seat with my but. I say burn it down!!! They've unsuccessfully tried this several times recently.

coasterkyle
^^after working it for a year, I've learned to like it. But everyone has different opinions on what makes a coaster, a great coaster. I'm pretty sure you have a few coasters in your top ten that i wouldn't agree with. plus I've been drug free for 21 years lol. anyways I really want to get down to Texas to ride this beast. PSiRockin
Why wouldn't El Toro be wooden? According to RCCA's website, (which shut down a while ago, so I can't back this up) GASM was prefabricated. Would that make it non-wooden? Not really. This debate has been brought up so many times, and I've never found a legit reason for anyone to back that opinion on El Toro.
Skycoastin Steve
Regardless of what El Toro or any other PnP feels like while you're riding it, it's stacked layers of wood with a steel rail on top of that. That's a wooden tracked coaster. Regardless if it has the steel connectors or not, it's wooden tracked. I think it's silly to not like a coaster because it "doesn't feel like a wooden coaster." Personally, I enjoy the smoothness and completely batshit crazy airtime. But that's just me.

WFChris
^ Sometimes I can't decide if a ride is fun or not because I am too busy deciding whether or not this giant steel or wood structure is indeed made of steel or wood. "El Toro was soooo fun, but GOSH! Was that actually wood? nahhhh, couldn't be. But it looks so wood like! I dunno, there are some steel bolts up in there! My brain is about to explode!" Come on guys, get over it. (agreeing with Chuck)

alpengeist04
Steve is 100% correct. ...Wood is wood, it doesn't matter how it feels. El Toro is a wood coaster, period! Now back to Texas Giant, which is a steel coaster and looking damn good.
