Randomman295 Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Am I the only one who is sad that they removed Flashback before they brought the tower down? The could have engineered it to hit Flashback right between the lifts. Or better yet, blown up Flashback about 10 seconds before they brought the Chute Out down on top of it. Certainly not. I'm not a fan of Vekoma Boomerangs either.
Sportsdude360 Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Folks at SFsTL might not be too happy if the boomerang didn't get there in one piece.
cfc Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) ^Still, it would've fun to see a Boomerang being crushed by an old Intamin ride. Edited October 12, 2012 by cfc
larrygator Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Folks at SFsTL might not be too happy if the boomerang didn't get there in one piece. That would be a very complex move to get it there in one piece.

All maliciousness aside, it is sad, I rode Texas Chute Out the first time the year it opened. I was thinking the same thing. It would have been prettty cool to drop it on Flashback.
805Andrew Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 How many of these parachute rides are left? Was this one SBNO for awhile? I vaguely remember riding the one at Knotts when I was a kid. I would like to ride a parachute ride as an adult to see what its like before they are all gone.
Sportsdude360 Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 It was fully operational, except in high winds.

As far as I know, there SFGADVs a few in Japan (Idk if those are TOGO knockoffs) and some Chinese Knockoffs in China.
Sammy* Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 ^I happy with having a Sky Screamer of that height. but I cant help but to worry this ride will not be open much because of the crazy North Texas Weather
Mrlittle Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 I went to the park yesterday for only two and half hours. Got in a few coasters in. I already used my Gold Pass for next year to get the FREE parking. I think the park looks good with some of the theming for Fright Fest. I'm not sure when this started but I noticed on NTAG, Titan, and Shockwave that they started to tell you to put all items in colored bins. I don't remember this happening earlier this year or making a big deal about it. They always had an area for drinks but now they have them color coded by which train you are on and they allow you put all of your stuff. I'm kind of wondering if SFOT got rid of there locker policy. Unless, I just never noticed the color coding system before. ( I was trying out a new video camera that takes pics, why they look gritty) This was the bins at Shockwave. I love that SFOT is putting money into Shockwave to make it look better
cal1br3tto Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 ^Great post, it seemed to make sense for the most part. I hope the fluffy bunny policy, new or not, is consistent among all their coasters. I know it's a controversial topic, though. Gritty SchwarzPorn is always better than none.

You also have the "children's" parachute towers built at Disney's California Adventure, Tokyo DisneySea, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland.
3Mutts Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 ^ I CAN'T beleive I forgot those as Intamin still makes them. Edit: and if it EVER gets puts back into use, the SBNO parachute ride structure at Coney Island (It's older but it's the ride that Intamins is based on).
Six Flags Enthuseast Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 I'm saddened by the destruction of Texas 'Chute Out. It's unfortunate that another Intamin Parachute tower has had to fall. I'd really like to buy one of the sections of a blue parachute, especially since the money will go to a good cause.

( I was trying out a new video camera that takes pics, why they look gritty) Shock Wave was never part of the Locker Policy, and SFoT did away with that policy in 201. Most Big rides have a place for drinks on top and things on bottom.

texcoaster Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Went to SFOT this weekend for the Travel Channel shoot. Had a great time, and also made a quick (5.5hr drive each way is quick by Texas standards!) trip over to Magic Springs to get a couple last rides on X Coaster. The shoot was fun, the park looks good (save for the cheesy "cobwebs" made of ripped cheese cloth stuck to bushes), and the black train on NTAG was screeeeeeeeamingly fast. One of the ride ops said that it was recently overhauled and the red train is getting done right now. Shockwave looks great, but they were just running one train (WTF?) and the line was really long. Got in a couple rides after the TC shoot on Sunday, though. I'll try to upload some pics tonight.
texcoaster Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Here's a teaser pic of the black train, fresh from its upgrades and overhauling. Hope the red train performs as well when it gets back! Black Train, fresh from its overhauling
historyfreak92 Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 Looks much better, & I like Six Flags Over Texas, & hopefully they won't remove the other roller coasters in there!
texcoaster Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 By the way, the pic I posted is not photoshopped. All I did was reduce the file size before posting... Other than that, it came right out of the camera that way. Also, the overhaul was all about the chassis and wheel assemblies, and the speed increase was noticeable. Too bad Travel Channel used the blue train... A dozen more rides on black would've been epic!
Zingoman Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 So obviously Shock Wave is open, is the paint job done? Is la vibora still operating on the weekends or is if down for paint now?
chadster Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 ^Shockwave is about 65-70% complete. The station building is painted, but not the rails. About 1/2 of the lift is painted, transfer track is hit and miss. Track section from the drop after the MCBR and around the station also needs painted. The Intamin thingy is a long ways from being complete paint wise but is mostly blasted and ready for it with a small section having received a fresh coat. Seems they are not going over the sections with the same colors as before, i.e black is red, red is yellow, yellow is black or something like that. More very random and possibly non-interesting Six Flags foto's here. Train 2 was finally put on the rails around 2 on Sunday. "I can't believe it's that big!"
texcoaster Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Judge Roy Scream was running three trains.... at the same time! Like the pic of the super-long black train on NTAG (which I'm really surprised that nobody noticed that it was unnaturally long), this pic wasn't photoshopped at all. I was doing some experimenting with iPhone's "panorama" mode and panned the camera with a moving train in the shot.
Sammy* Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I noticed the picture was edited . Anyway Ive always thought the trains on Giant are 2 cars too long, like Millenium Force train, but its okay on MF since its a 300+ foot coaster
