No, you can activate ANY pass, new or old. OMG.

EDIT:  I have now been proven wrong: https://themeparkreview.com/forum/topic/47688-six-flags-fun-corporate-discussion-thread/page/102/#findComment-1926138  (Original content retained below for posterity)

Whatever.  It's not worth arguing with you.  @thepoint4life23 was asking about buying a new pass through Cedar Point and using it at Kings Island before going to Cedar Point.  The Cedar point website explicitly states that you can't do that [https://www.cedarpoint.com/season-passes]:

Quote

*Must first process and visit the park at which the pass was originally issued, otherwise known as your Home Park, before visiting other parks. Not valid for Knott's Scary Farm, special ticket events, or park buyout admission.

That's what I'm basing my claims on - the statements that have been specifically and deliberately made by the park on their official channels.  Statements that they have never made before, indicating that they went out of their way to now make these statements.  Why would they publish that statement on every one of the legacy-CF park websites if it wasn't the case?

You are basing your assessment of the situation entirely on your own experience with renewals, which are not the same as a new pass activation, and the history of not having to do that.  If the chain has demonstrated anything in the past few months )with the Haunt upcharges, removal of Winterfest/HitP, changing of hours at Carowinds' Winterfest to be focused on the daytime, and so on), what "was always the case in the past" no longer applies.

I'm telling the person asking questions to be more cautious and either listen to what the official sources say or call them directly and ask.  You're telling the person asking the questions to accept your claims on blind faith when you have no actual first-hand experience with doing what they are trying to do and you have no consequences if you're wrong.

I hope I'm wrong, I really do, for the sake of anyone buying new passes this year.  But the actual evidence presented thus far would indicate that I'm not, and arguing with you further would accomplish nothing.

@thepoint4life23, please call both CP and KI guest relations and ask your questions, or wait for someone who actually has experience with a new, non-renewal, pass purchase to respond.

PLENTY of people have purchased NEW passes from CF parks and used them at other parks first.  There is an online activation. People were buying new CW passes immediately when they went on sale. Most didn't even bother with the online activation page. They just work. Same as last year year, the year before, etc.

Addons work at all legacy parks despite what the website claims as well.  Buy a meal plan at CW while saving money on your pass and you can use it at all CF legacy parks now.  Everywhere Jan 1.

Then why does the CP website say what it does, when it has never said that before?  Why do all of the legacy CF park websites say that now, when they never have before?

Did your new, non-renewal, pass just work, or are you relying on other people's testimony?  If so, link it please.

If just one person tells me that their new-purchase, non-renewal, pass purchased at a legacy CF park was able to be used at another park before going to the park they bought it from, I'll absolutely admit I was wrong.  I want to be wrong here, since me being wrong results in a better situation for the customers.  Like, I'm arguing because I want to see some evidence that SFEC isn't being completely unreasonable with all of this.

On another note, it looks like they've raised the prices for the "All Season Haunted Attraction (Express) Pass" at many of the parks, some parks seeing two price increases within a day.  Guess they realized that charging just slightly more than a one-day pass wasn't a smart move.  I'm honestly amazed that the All-Season, All-Park Fast Lane Plus is still only $1,000....it's been that price for like 5 years or more now.

Thanks for all that Amy.

I would be interested in seeing the numbers over people who purchased the all-Season Fast lane Plus. Hard to see a Family of 4 Forking out $4000 for that.

No worries...just trying to make sure you don't get bitten by this company's inability to clearly communicate to its customers LOL.

As for the all-season, all-park, I know I had it for a few years straight, both before and after COVID (in 2020 it was the the only way to get FL at a bunch of parks period), but I'm a single person.  You're right that I can't see families going for it.

If i knew i would get say 10 visit a year then i would really think about it. Season passes, I'm sure you get people who have no clue and money doesn't matter who just check all the boxes and use it 2 times.

the Texas parks are year round, and I'm right in the middle of the two of them.  and tho Fiesta is my "home" park, we hit up SFOT a few times a year as well.  and now that Schlitterbahnn is included?

(and I go to SFOG every year for an Atlanta visit for Dragon*con, and every couple of years I visit St. Louis (and meet up with TeacherKim), so go there too).

so for me?  no brainer.

I cannot say why for certain the website makes these statements, but I believe it’s the problem of having to explain legacy parks and that the systems are not truly merged, and it will work at these parks, but not these parks.  It is easier to just give warnings even if they are complete garbage.

But I can answer your question.  I purchased a new 2026 Kings Island pass, activated it as part of the purchase by uploading a picture.  Then drove to Cedar Point and used it there, before it was used at Kings Island.  The pass worked perfectly, as did the add-ons.  So yes my new pass from a legacy Cedar Fair park worked fine at other legacy Cedar Fair parks, without visiting the park it was purchased from, and the add-ons even worked.

@tndankand @john10693, I apologize as I have now been proven wrong.

It was not to prove you wrong as we were just trying to help by sharing our experience. This forum has helped me immensely over the years planning trips and finding info for parks and I hope that I may pay it forward in return.

So, back to my post from several days ago. Do you know if this includes the legacy SF Diamond Elite VIP membership inclusions? For 2025, when the all park passport was added on it only included parking and admission for legacy CF parks. The meals, drinks, etc, etc continued to work at all legacy SF parks. The recent email gave a list of things that would now be included at ALL parks (mostly things already on there) and mentioned drinks but not meals.

Although I haven't given up trying to get an answer from some actual live human that works for the new mega corp!

Yeah, while I don't have any add on perks, I do have a Diamond Elite VIP pass, which includes 4 Fastlane passes per visit at SF legacy parks.  Was wondering if I"d be getting 4 Front of Line passes at legacy CF parks (I'm suspecting not, especially when ever their own Prestige pass only allows 1 FOL per visit).  But they weren't exactly clear about how many FOL passes we'd be getting.

Also wondering/hoping if there will be just one refillable mug that can be used across both SF and CF parks... that would be very helpful and make things much easier.  I'm thinking yes here, as now both CF and SF parks are more aggressively having people scan mugs before refills, signifying a unified process.

FWIW, I did email SF about these questions.  I've done it before, and surprisingly usually get excellent, accurate answers.  However, this time, my reply was "perks only happen at your home park," which pretty much blatantly sounds flat out false--unless they're talking about add on perks?  But I wasn't asking them about that, so I still think it's a way off base answer.

I'm pretty sure that the skip the line thing will revert to just one since they are getting rid of the old SF fastpass system and using the CF system chain wide. Although, since that works on a wristband and not digitally I'm not sure what a one time will look like. May just be a paper pass. Also, I think one mug will work and I've been told that SF parks will start putting in drink stations where you can just get a paper cup versus carrying around the plastic jug all day which we greatly prefer. Will see how long that takes to implement and if they do it at all parks.

But there still seems to be a LOT of internal confusion regarding how this is all working. The person I spoke to at my home park, SFSTL, was very sympathetic and flat out told me they had simply not been given all the information yet and were themselves trying to sort out all the answers. Of course we knew there would be merging pains but still frustrating.

I will be at SFSTL for an ACE event on Sept 6th and if I haven't gotten an answer yet will literally corner the higher ups and enact mild Karen mode (just an expression I'll be nice, firm but nice) until I get said answer. Of course that will be after the "sale" deadline on new passes so if advantageous to switch over I might regret waiting. 🤷‍♀️

Skip the line passes good at all parks along with your drinks in 2026.  Cups on sale next year, paper cup option available now. Currently they work at whatever legacy chain you purchased from.  Dining will either be home park or all, whichever you choose.  SF Plus, legacy, and current members can add on new 2026 dining plans.

There are no legacy exceptions/restrictions/etc in 2026.  It's all one system in 2026.

Don't worry, the 'sale' will be extended.

I also assumed the sale will get extended which is why I'm not that fussed about taking a chance and waiting.

If we get everything on our membership at all parks, it's a pretty great deal for what I pay. Of course I have that because I kept paying it all through the Covid lockdowns so ...........!

"Although, since that works on a wristband and not digitally I'm not sure what a one time will look like. May just be a paper pass."

(Some of?) The legacy Cedar Fair parks now have FL wristband scanners. The single shot FL is automatically added to your pass when you scan into the park. All you have to do is scan your pass at the FL merge point, and you're good to go. I've already done this a couple times at KI. TT2 is the exception; you'll need to pick up a paper ticket in the gift shop across the way.
