swfan1988
Hi Everyone! I saw this rumor on reddit the other day, but now it has been confirmed by both Amusement Today and Ride Entertainment so here comes another guessing game! Ride Entertainment and Gerstlauer have announced that a ANOTHER (i.e. not Defiance) new Infinity Coaster is coming to the United States, with a projected opening of LATE 2022. They said that it will be fully announced at IAAPA next month. Here is the article from AT (source link: https://amusementtoday.com/2021/10/gerstlauer-to-build-one-of-a-kind-infinity-roller-coaster-in-the-united-states/) : STEVENSVILLE, Md. — Gerstlauer Amusement Rides, GmbH, a proud partner of Ride Entertainment, has signed an agreement to manufacture a one-of-a-kind, Infinity roller coaster for a soon-to-be-named customer in the United States. The attraction, which is scheduled to open in late 2022, will be formally announced at the IAAPA Expo in Orlando next month. “I am constantly amazed at how the team at Gerstlauer conquers unique challenges thrown their way,” said Ed Hiller, CEO and Founder of Ride Entertainment. “This new Infinity coaster will have guests racing to it in order to be the first to ride as it is being installed at a high-profile location.” Ride Entertainment’s world-renown Installation team will construct the ride for the client. “This project will once again showcase the ingenuity and creativity of Gerstlauer,” added Hiller. “In addition, our outstanding Installation team will be able to show why they are the gold standard of the attractions industry.” Couple thoughts: - I believe that is the same picture of the track being manufactured, that they included with the teaser of Defiance. So, no clues there. - They say "high-profile location", so obviously it's going Cedar Point... -They say "one-of-a-kind", but NOT "record breaking" so I'm guessing that it will have an original layout, but not actually break any records...so maybe not Cedar Point? - LATE 2022...hmmm...who would want to open a new one-of-a-kind coaster in a high-profile location late in a season...Six Flags? - We at least know for sure we won't have to wait too long for it! So let the guessing game begin! Personally, I think this might be going to another independent park (Holiday World, Alabama Adventure, and Silverwood, of course my home park cause why not, come immediately to mind), but with Six Flags okaying a B&M Dive coaster you never know these days what might get built where! 2022 is shaping up to be an interesting year for new coasters, makes me wonder what other announcements might come out of IAAPA! SharkTums
^Yeah, my first thought was is this just the Glenwood coaster moving somewhere else!?!

Didn't that coaster for Glenwood have a custom layout with some pretty significant elevation changes? Like a 70 Ft lift with a 120 foot drop into a valley? I'm sure that ride could be installed somewhere else but it might be challenging or need to be modified a bit.
Shavethewhales2
I am hoping it is for Alabama Adventure. Would love to see that park continue to take off and grow back to what it was and beyond. The verbiage indicates something unique about it though that seems to point away from a traditional amusement park though... "High profile location" can mean anything. It could be going to Las Vegas to a resort somewhere for all that means. Any major resorts set to expand through next year? I know several massive Oklahoma Casinos are on a tear. Would be awesome to see one of these pop up at one of the OK/TX border casinos. The Durant Casino has been expanding into other attractions besides gambling, as an example. I think the Glenwood project still happens, but maybe it gets pushed back a year or two. If they had decent insurance and lawyers, they can argue things down and still take a blow without being wiped out. Don't want to say much more than that, because what a crappy situation, but I think they still have a viable path forward with hopefully much safer operations.
Canobie Coaster
The fact it says late 2022 makes me think it's a year-round location. The article also never specified this was a park so it could be an entertainment complex off our radar.

coasterbill
I'm impressed that nobody has seriously suggested Cedar Point yet. I haven't looked at the posts about this on other sites and social media and you can't make me but I'm sure the "Well, if they started tearing down Wicked Twister right now then it would make sense that it wouldn't be ready for opening day" Olympic-sized-mental-gymnastics competition has already begun.
thrillseeker4552
This definitely screams "small independent park", particularly one that is year-round since they said a late 2022 opening. One of the Fun Spots would be great but honestly any FEC getting a sizable ride like an Infinity Coaster is a great thing.
sdcfan88
With that time frame and description this might be related to the big construction project going on in behind Firemans Landing at SDC... hmmm... says it won't be record breaking so are they doing the FITH rebuild? Think Mystery Mine but with the theme of FITH.
Nrthwnd
This is just a suggestion but .... maybe that's (one of the reasons) why the Primeval Whirl Twins got taken down? Animal Kingdom is getting a new coaster, in their place with more space added to it, themed to dinosaurs? I mean, it's a nuts suggestion, but hey. Ya never know, hmmm? P.S. ~ I had to look up "Infinity Coaster" just to be sure I understood what's coming. And... I saw The Smiler in Alton Towers as an example of one. Which made me realize, with juuust some more space, this could fit pretty good, into the old Whirls' space. Just saying... I also know that Disney and other theme parks and franchises (usually) team up with coaster companies they've already used before. Still, it's possible, yes? No? Canobie Coaster
After doing some more research, I'm wondering if this could be for the Mattel Adventure Park coming to Arizona. The park is slated to open late in 2022, which matches the opening date for the Gerstlauer Infinity coaster. Promotional art shows an orange looping coaster themed to Hot Wheels and the article in Amusement Today says guests will be "racing" to ride this Infinity coaster. Link to Mattel Adventure Park Article This would also be a perfect time to open this park and coaster since the Cardinals are hosting the Super Bowl in 2023. 3

abovethesink
I think two assumptions here are the most likely to pan out: 1) This is a year round location, as people have pointed out. Obviously you don't open in late 2022 if you're not. This means far south or indoors. 2) This is not going to be located in a "major" park as the initial tease would come from them and not the manufacturer. Either of the Florida Fun Spots have any room left? Is Alabama Adventure open year round? They were hinting at something on social media not too long ago. Could be so many places that speculating feels kinda ridiculous at this point to be honest, even as I do it.
Srosdude
I'm surprised that nobody has said Lake Compounce. Been lots of rumblings about it.
coasterbill
That's not a bad point. Lake Compounce has a history of opening rides for the season in the fall right before they close. This is also the type of ride where you could run one train and really piss everyone off so it would go well there. 2
