Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 If modern coasters get any more intense...I wonder if ride attendants will have to start issueing G-suits to guests when they first enter the park and they will have to return them upon leaving...
cprocks22 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I "gray out" on Millennium Force at the bottom of the first hill almost every time I ride it, and have come very close to blacking out on Goliath's (at SFMM) helix, but those are the only two rides its ever happened on.
Erik Johnson Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I still get fuzzy on The Hulk in the cobra roll. I think the helix on Goliath, while riding the back row, is the closest I have come to blacking out.
cycamps Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 The only times I've ever came close are on Millennium Force after the first drop and Mantis. (don't remember where).
dpxtreme Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 The only ones for me is the helix on Goliath at SFMM, and the turn right after the loop on Flight Deck at CGA.
packfanlv Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I have almost blacked out on Goliath at SFMM quite a few times. It is the only coaster that it has happened to me on. For some reason, I don't remember it happening on Titan, but I only rode it once and we were sitting toward the front of the train.
Speeddeamon128 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 The helix on Nitro at GADV sitting in the back seat gets me a black out almost every time.
Pufferfish Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I have never blacked out, but i have experienced several gray outs. The best of which have been on Arrow loopers such as Tennessee Tornado and Carolina Cyclone. I've also occasionally blacked out on Vortex at Carowinds. That little B&M stand up packs a nice punch. Anyways, in my mind, high gs and the sensation of graying out makes a ride much more interesting. My sister on the other hand blacks out a lot. She blacked out on Kumba for most all of the ride.
jkwan Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I myself, had never blacked out on a roller coaster. I get dizzy sometimes, but that only if I ride it multiple times. But my sister on the other hand, blacks out a lot. Pretty much every inverted coaster she'd been on, she'd blacked out on. And she had also blacked out on Kumba.
Team Thriller Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Even though I never actually blacked out. I have gotten serious Tunnel Vision: Goliath's helix always got me. So intense. Also Alpengiest after riding 7 times in a row got so strong that it was probably dangerous. Same with Black Mamba, super dooper intense. --James
jamesdillaman Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I've seen many African Americans on coasters, but I've never taken one on myself. My only African friend doesn't really like coasters, as he's a chicken (no pun intended) (he's reading this over my shoulder and laughing his ass off) -James
Crazy4Coasters! Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Started to "Gray out" on Goliath at SFMM... But am still waiting for Tatsu's pretzel loop to get to me... that thing is ridiculous!

Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Are both the Giovanola hypers that bad? I'm riding one this march and I hope it would be a good experiance. (although I might have to pack a G-suit...NOT!) Why do they make the helixes so intense? Just wondering.
paintballer Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 ^ Titan isn't bad anymore, they trimmed it up so at most you get a 'lil gray out.
Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 So I guess I'll have more room in my suitcase knowing I won't have to pack a G-suit I'm sure my tolerance to positive G's is better now than 2 years ago. Plus someone told me getting stapled will actually make it better? Doesn't make too much sence. Anyone else heard of that?
coolhandluke Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 ^Being stapled would produce a similar situation as a G-suit would. It would keep the blood from being able to be easily forced away from your brain. Not as effective, certainly, but it makes sense it would help a little. I grayed out at the pull-out of Millennium Force's first drop. But that was my first big boy coaster, except for Rock n' Rollercoaster 18 months before. Invertigo/Face/Off is the only ride that consistently gets me close to gray outs now.
Cygnus12 Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I've never blacked out on a ride but I have greyed out on the likes of Laser, Batman: the Ride (first loop), and occasionally in Nitro's helix near the top.
Mechanic Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 My color vision will sometimes briefly fade to gray on SFMM's Goliath during the helix. The pretzel on Tatsu feels more intense to me, but I don't have any issue with graying out on it. While the force on Goliath is not as intense, it's drawn out over a relatively long period of time at a pretty consistent level. As a comparison, Tatsu's pretzel continues to build intensity as you go down and then the force quickly diminishes as you climb back up. Of course, there are also the very different riding positions of each coaster that no doubt play their part as well.
Calaway Park Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I gray out all the time in Mindbender's 2nd loop and it's final helices. Almost every time I ride I gray out twice, but 5.5-6 Gs does that.
WFChris Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Goliath at SFMM on press day. OMG that thing was insane then! Was anybody on any of the trains where a wheel broke off in the helix? I was in the back car, I believe, and it was kind of scary. The reason they gave us was that they were 'phasing out a failed wheel design.' Not trying to change the subject though! But yeah Goliath before the Mid-Course STOP was way intense. Chris.
brygee910 Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 My first an only blackout experience was on Kumba this past year. I had ridden it many times before, but for some reason that day I felt horrible after getting off, with a massive headache. Hasn't happened since! And I'm glad!
HEADCHEEZ Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I saw spots during Goliath's helix and I blacked out in Tatsu's Pretzel loop.
coasterqueen13 Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I black out almost every time on Millennium Force. it gets kind of annoying =P

I guess being stapled could help preventing even partial G-LOC as long as all the pressure is on the right places God I can't even take 4.5 G's without blacking out(flight deck at CW).
