Six Flags Food

Recommended Posts

Ok, cool, so it's the best gas station, but still a gas station. And yes, Kum 'n' Go is our biggest chain around here, and yes, it's really spelled like that. They have decent pizza for $1 a slice, and about 8 varieties of coffee. They also have a hot dog bar with a bunch of different condiments, including things like sport peppers and tomatoes. I would never go out to eat there, but when on the road, if it's a choice between McDonald's and Kum 'n' Go, I'm going with the Kum 'n' Go. It's cheaper, and has better food. When I was reading the Buzzfeed article mentioned above, I was thinking, "Wow, this is a bigger and better version of Kum 'n' Go."

Part of the fun of traveling is trying out stuff that isn't at home. I made a point of stopping for a Biggby coffee when I was in Michigan this past spring. Since I'll be traveling throughout eastern PA and NJ, I'm sure at some point I will be in need of road food. Sounds like Wawa is worth a stop.

And don't worry, Bill, I will definitely be eating at Cesari's.

20 other awesome real deal hoagie spots right around here.

I'm planning on a couple of days in Philadelphia itself to see the historical places. Where's the best real deal hoagie spot in Philly? Also, I'm considering maybe doing this tour: http://www.cityfoodtours.com/philadelphia/flavors_of_philly.html

Per the website, it seems to hit the major food groups: cheesesteak, pretzels, fries, and pizza. Do you know anything about it? Are there better tours? I won't be going to NYC on this trip, as there's so much to do there it warrants its own trip later, but I'm looking for an experience like Scott's Pizza Tour is there, but with the quintessential Philly food.

I know I'm hijacking this thread for my own trip planning purposes, but everyone knows Six Flags food sucks, so it doesn't matter.

Tours have their place and often times there can be real benefit to them when I think the barriers of entry are a bit high for me. I don't think there's anywhere in the US where I feel that way about food - you spend 5 minutes with Yelp and Google searches and pretty much any question you might have gets answered quickly.

Kum 'n' Go

Come on. That's not really a thing. You're just screwing with us. They wouldn't really have named it that. Right? Lol

Anyway Wawa really is awesome and it's a bit of a religion in the Mid Atlantic. The food is solid but when combined with the fact that they're 24 hours with a full menu and ridiculously convenient they're pretty much unbeatable. Somebody will show up soon and say something asinine about Sheetz being better but ignore them. They're sh*theads.

I saw one of these on a road trip once and laughed at the name too. Yeah, it's not spelled right, but still....

We used to also have a couple of Casey's General Stores in rural central NY along I-86, but on our last trip to Boston it looked like they had been bought out by another chain (can't remember the name though). A quick peek at their website now shows the closest ones in Ohio, so I guess they're gone for good. I remember stopping in one and thinking that it wasn't too bad.

And I agree about Wawa - awesome. While I normally don't order food there, I like the (usually) clean bathrooms, free ATM, the fresh fruit options as well as normally friendly and speedy check out.

While Sheetz is like 99.9% better than any other gas station/convenience stores that you'll find in Western PA, Wawa is definitely superior in variety and in particular, bathroom cleanliness. The last couple of Sheetz we have stopped in just for gas and a pee break, the bathrooms were nasty (paper towels on floor, dirty sinks, overflowing garbage, etc).

And yes, most Six Flags food still sucks. lol

^ I've heard several people from the Northeast mention Wawa. I Googled it, so I know it's a convenience store, but does it actually have good food?

It is ok, it is only good if it is three in the morning and you are drunk.

We all love Larry but please keep in mind that he doesn't think Cesari's at Knoebels is all that great either so his taste buds may be broken. Lol

In all seriousness he's not entirely wrong. Wawa is really good but it's not like you'll mistake it for a NYC deli. It's biggest selling point is it's hours but I do prefer it to the chain sandwich shops like Subway (ugh) and Jersey Mikes. They also have some other cool perks like no surcharge ATM's and free air. For a gas station they pretty much reign supreme.

I totally agree with your last paragraph. I do stop at Wawa occasionally for snacks and air.

The Bill Clinton seal of approval!

Yeah, they're a big chain based out of Iowa. They first started putting stores in the Ozarks about 10 years ago, and it caused quite a stir in this rather religious area. There were a few weak boycotts that soon went limp. To their credit, they rocked the name. If you're going to do it, do it all the way to completion, right?

Bumping this to share this awful looking attempt at Chicken and Waffles at Six Flags Fiesta Texas which appears to be Six Flags chicken tenders stuffed into an Ice Cream Cone...

Honestly I've seen better chicken & waffles in some obscure kiosks in small towns around the world,

I mean sure if it tastes good but don't call it chicken & waffles

This was our "Six Flags Food" from a lunch buffet line, during WCB at Magic Mountain, last September.

I skipped the beans. And took the Lay's instead.

I tried to make it a Chili Dog, but it didn't quite work out. (o; Taken on Sept.10, 2016.

^ I found it in the internet images. I tried to find something

from Six Flags, but it didn't seem to take me to any such photos.

And I'm still curious wtf actual "Gatorbread" is?
