What time does the committee meet? Praying this passes so the smaller groups can get a share of the tourist pie, not to mention get a great new coaster.

The opponents to this are a joke.

"What happens when someone sees the roller coasters and is so surprised (by the first roller coaster they've ever seen in Orlando!) that they get into a car accident?"

Posted

They're saying its a traffic hazard... How stupid... If they're building something like this, wouldn't that encourage further development, including building new/better infrastructure to service all the traffic coming that way, making it better than it is now?

The positive people are putting forward great cases IMHO. Very mature, reasoned arguments, and I love the woman who started her speech with the anecdote about Paris and the Eiffel Tower and the opposition it faced and how it became an icon. Also good on the guy who called out Universal for being bullies (and I'm a huge Universal fangirl)

I had to laugh at the opponent who was saying about body bags in the street and police tape closing off the roads... surely such hysteria doesn't do the 'no' camp any favours!

Watching for a few minutes and I've seen nothing but support! I am very excited, hoping that everything gets passed today!!

Thinking the same thing. I have a feeling that this is going to better than I thought it would, which is great!

I think there have been about 3-4 people out of nearly 15-20 who have opposed. A couple were nearby residents who were concerned about the visual impact, and a couple mentioned increased traffic, including one guy who seemed to think that there would be 'body bags lining the street' through pedestrian deaths!

Finally caught the recent 15 minutes of the stream. I figured there would be plenty of people present in support for the project, but I didn't expect them to be the overwhelming majority! It's quite pleasing to see!

I think they only laughed because of his little chuckle at the end. I'm loving hearing everybody's thoughts. The kid made great points, and I genuinely think lots of people will visit Universal AS WELL AS Skyplex.

Im not expert on Orlando planning rules and regulations or fully knowledgeable on this whole situation, but if Skyplex is going to be successful (which is looks like it will be) I assume Universal will have the right to appeal the decision and most likely use it.

18 more speakers, and they are accepting no more. So about 40 more minutes of presentations I guess.

The guy with glasses is making such a great argument saying about how CItywalk got so many subsidies, crushed the competition and are not even allowing competitors to respond.

Absolutely love all the stories they're all sharing.

My favorite is the woman from Russia whose family came to visit her in Orlando and the first thing they asked to do is see where the Skyplex was going to be built.

Oh, and here is Universal.

"Ignoring the community"

Yeah, because a whole community saying they want it is going against what the community wants.

Edit: Bless the person who got up to say this.

I love this guy at the moment.... his point is that it isn't theme parks in Orlando that are competitors, but it's Las Vegas, New York etc that are the competitors.
