The Knott's Berry Farm (KBF) Discussion Thread

P. 651: Montezooma's Revenge project terminated?

Recommended Posts

Oh, I didn't see the houses at the back of the park. So I guess that's why they're adding the shed I take it. Is that why Ghostrider got a shed too, because it was too loud?

---Brent

Ghostrider did not have that shed added to it until Knotts accquired that hotel. Before they owned it the park didn't care about the noise it made.

I'm sorry, but $150 to be the first to ride this thing is pretty steep. Unless I had an amount of money that I could just throw around, I would not do that. But, it's a good idea for Knott's to raise some money for charity.

---Brent

Because the money is going to a charity, you can write the cost off on your taxes.

Ill ride it before the park opens I know one of the lead ride ops and can get into the park anytime I want day or night.

Well then! It would be awesome if your friend could organize a campout for Pony Express. Even better, since your friend had access to the park at all times, how about, like, a Pony Express sleepover under the track? We could ride it all night, making it the best event EVER! Aww, that is soooooo awesome you have a friend so well connected.

I'm going on the 31st to spend the day at Knott's, and plan to check out the Pony Express then. It looks like they're doing a lot to put the area back together. While I can't honestly say this ride excites me that much, it will be cool to ride it, and they really did need something to liven up that side of the park (although I really thought that with 4 years since Silver Bullet and their having just added Sierra Sidewinder-along with all the rumors that were flying around-that their next addition would be another "big thrill" attraction.)

So i just now found out this was a roller coaster... I totally thought that Pony Express was a new horse ride or something... wow.

Either they don't really make it too clear in their advertisements, or i'm just slow.

Either way, it looks fun. =]

Rode it yesterday 5-26 and we had a great time. My daughter who is 8 years old rode on the front horse with her hands up the whole time. Smooth as can be, nice launch, fun little transition before the tunnel. Yes, the ride is too short. I think if the ride was 1600 ft and not 1300 it would have been better. Don't get me wrong it's a hoot but too short. Good craftsmanship and themes. The ride just looks really good. Plus it had a nice western sound track all through the area. Now for the bad.I'm not happy with Boothill. I'm happy it's still here but the clutch and flywheel motor is too loud. The box they put around it is ugly and the one support in the middle of Boothill kinda stinks. Cover that box with some landscaping and maybe some rock work over that support and that would help. Now, it might not be finished so I have to give them some slack. All in all I would give it a solid grade of B.

We enjoyed the give aways (hat, map, poster, scarf) It was great to see kids running around with cowboy hats. Great job by all who worked on the ride. There is a lot of TLC put into that whole area and your hard work really shows.

I rode Pony Express twice on May 30. It's not that much, but it's a fun little ride. My only wish is that it would have been a bit longer. Perhaps a helix or an extra out-and-back stretch over Bigfoot Rapids might have been a good idea.

The ride's loading is slow enough to have accommodated some more ride time so the arriving train wouldn't have to sit in the holding position for too long.

Sounds like Mick Doohan's coaster.

-Slow loading times

-Fun, but short

-Down Time

I had a few good rides, but one of them the restraint really slammed down over my thighs...it killed. I'll see if I'll be able to get on this...it's nothing that really interests me. Yay, Accelerator!

Hey everyone-

I have some grim news to report, but several websites have stated and proved that Knott's Berry Farm has continued their destruction of classic park icons with the removal of...the Peanut's Playhouse. The Peanut's Playhouse was loved by many and I personally remember having some great memories in there. Now, it has been reduced to a pile of wood. It also held some previous Haunt mazes such as Uncle Ernie's Madhouse and The Inquisition. As far as Knott's dealings with previous issues go, I bet you anything that they will replace this with some thrown-together family coaster. R.I.P. Peanut's Playhouse

What's interesting to me is that I would think the Peanut's Playhouse would be a much bigger draw than yet another small family coaster. I mean, when you look at where the kids spend most of their time, it's usually in play areas where there's lots going on. Family coasters of the type they're going after really only fit a small proportion of park guests very well.

I just want to say that unless someone from upper management (or maybe a government inspector) wants to chime in, don't just automatically assume they're knocking it down just because they can. not to say they wouldn't, but maybe with the collapse of the roof on the Log Ride Cedar Fair is going through and getting rid of anything that may become a problem in the near future. At least I really really hope that's the case lol.

Here's to hoping whatever replaces it will be a worthy replacement (but I'm not holding my breathe...)
