Hey they gotta make the money somehow for their 2015 addition . Speaking of which is there any word out there as to what Knotts may be planning for 2015?

Sush. We dont need to start this up yet. Lol

i can see this change in policy deterring pass-holder who are just planning to attend for a couple hours. With that said, I doubt the park is losing much revenue by keeping them away. I can foresee a lot of disgruntled guests though

Could somebody who frequents KBF possibly get some pics of the progress of the Mine Ride? I'd like to see how that is going...

You might be looking for more details, but there was some coverage of the Mine Ride rehab here.

I just don't like the $25 flat charge. I would think it would be more fair to have the hourly rate like they did before. Using the new 1hr and 3hr model with an hourly rate after. I can just see people spending the time eating and shopping, spending money, and then 4 hours later getting an additional $25 charge after spending a lot already. I mean, if someone is there longer then 3 hours and they didn't go into the park, odds are they spent a lot of money in the marketplace.

It's not like a timed allotment of free parking is some foreign concept. Almost every parking lot for an attraction, venue, or shopping area has one. If people can't bring themselves to care in the slightest by reading the signs to know how much time they have, they deserve to be slapped with the $25 fee.

Is $0 to $25 immediately a little harsh compared to most lots? Sure, but there's a gravy train culture that's been allowed to fester here that needs to be told in no uncertain terms that time's up. This move sends that message loud and clear.

So your'e there with a ton of people, having a great time in the market place and at just before 3 hours your'e going to say "Sorry, we have to leave cause Knott's is going to charge $25" Even if you "brought yourself to care in the slightest to read the sign" its unlikely that you'll leave cause your'e having a good time. Whether or not it will anger you is something for you to decide. It just seems like its punishing people who would actually be spending more money. And you even agreed with me that $0 to $25 is harsh, and that's all I'm saying here. A tiered program, after 3 hours, with validation would be more appropriate.

With what Joey said, I do hope there is some internal policy to allow someone who had a giant bill or a handful of recipients to go through. Cause I know of plenty of people who go there for the Chicken with large groups and spend close to 3 hours there.

Think of the new parking charge as a "new attraction": gambling. Knott's is betting 25 bucks that you can't get back to your car in the Marketplace within an hour.

Just a wee touch of Vegas in Buena Park.

If people can abuse something and get away with it, they will and will do so in large numbers. I've done my share of taking advantage of the 3 free hours next to Snoopy's HQ, and I'm a conscientious law abiding kind of guy compared to many people. It kinda sucks but ultimately I think it's probably wise that Knott's is starting to crack down on this.

As far as the 25 dollar fine goes:

I saw Metallica at San Diego State a few years ago and got slapped with a 60 dollar parking ticket by the college police for an expired parking permit, by 10 minutes! 25 dollars isn't the most egregious parking fine out there I'm sure.

Anyone know how much Buena Park P.D. levies on their parking citations?

They repainted Silver Bullet's supports silver this time instead of gray

It's finally silver

The supports were silver before, they just faded into gray.

For anyone going to the park soon, Ghostrider is expected to reopen this week. I'm scheduled there all next weekend so it should be open by Friday.

I was thinking of going this Thursday. But I could also go again next week.

Do you get to test GhostRider or does some other crew do that?

Maintenance does the testing. Before it opens to guests, members of management from the Ride operations and Maintenance departments will do test rides.

Maintenance does most of the testing before we do anything. Basically, once they're done testing everything they sign off a sheet for us and then we basically do the double check testing. We check the seatbelts and lapbars on each train, send each train for a test cycle, and then send a test rider on each train. I'll usually volunteer to test ride if we need one.

According to Knott's newest update The GR8 will close permanently. They added a hint saying that the replacement will make the Peanuts Gang very happy.

This is great news! I always disliked the theme of Great Skate and thought it was out of place.

Please let the small dark ride speculation come true! Perhaps it may also be Peanuts Playhouse 2.0?
