Patrick210
Just to add a couple of things. The actual name of the Chance/Vekoma coaster is "Freedom Flyer". There was typo on that somewhere before. The coaster is the identical layout to Kvasten at Grona Lund in Stockholm. The restraints are the same as the ones in this photo, no over the shoulder horse-collar. So, hanging - no banging. This coaster will be super smooth, like Steel Lasso in Oklahoma City. If you've ridden that one, you know what I mean. Only this one is taller and longer.
Swimace
^I seriously love the new trains that Vekoma has on their junior suspended coaster. They are crazy smooth and comfortable! Completely opposite to their terrible predecessors...
SharkTums
^And they have a lower height restriction!

Skycoastin Steve
Is everyone ready for the weekly Fun Spot construction update? I am! These were taken Sunday, so there might have been a little more progress since then. Either way, here you go. We have coaster track on site! Nothing new at the front (back) gate. More supports have showed up though, and some funky looking ones, too. I'm not entirely sure what this is, but it's getting some serious acupuncture. Something tells me this isn't part of the theming. They've gotten lots more done with the support structure for White Lightning! I imagine it won't be long before we see this thing go vertical. I do like how the supports are white. Waiting patiently to be attached to footers. Thus ends the "coaster supports" portion of the update. They've finished the foundation for the White Lightning station. More work continues on the lift motor house. They've added more to the brackets on the footers since last time. This is what one looks like up close and personal. Still pouring the footers for the Vekoma. Lots and lots of progress has been done on White Lightning. Just a few weeks ago, half of these footers were barely finished! Electrical stuff. Another look at where the Vekoma will reside. I really like the gravel underneath the ride look. A lot better than just having weeds. One of the top pieces for the Skycoaster arch. They've also started building the go-kart track expansion. A little perspective on where the turn around is for White Lightning compared to everything else. Speaking of the turn around, the footers have made it there! Getting ready to put the foundation down here I'm sure. That's it for this update, so until next time, BE CAREFUL!
Skycoastin Steve
And I just drove by the park and vertical construction has begun on both coasters! Pictures to come later!

Skycoastin Steve
Ok just got back from taking some more pics at the park, and not only has Freedom Flyer gone vertical, White Lightning has, as well! Just in the last four days (since the update earlier on this page), lots more track and supports have shown up! A couple guys working on White Lightning supports. Tons more track on site! Seats have also arrived for Freedom Flyer! They've gotten a lot more done on White Lightning supports, too. This support is getting ready to be raised. The Enterprise also arrived earlier this week! The parts are all sitting in a field across the street, sure hope nobody messes with them. And we have vertical construction!! On both coasters! They were busy putting up the 2nd support of the day. They pretty much ramped this project up to Ludicrous Speed. The two coasters are going to be in fairly close proximity to one another. This is going to look awfully different in a few weeks. Anyone want to figure out what goes where? They've gotten the gravel all the way up to this building, which is almost the entire length of the ride. More poles have also gone up for the go-kart track expansion. The bottom of the turn around is leveled out and the foundation has been started. The top of the Skycoaster is all put together now. The artificial pond is pretty much done. One last overview, can't wait to see the progress over the next several weeks!

Double0Kevin
Love the updates. I feel like White Lightning is going to be one of those small coasters that ends up blowing everyone away. Can't wait to get on it in November when I'm back in Orlando!

palmerleeberry
Thanks for the update; all those pictures of footers sure looks sexy (for all you footers fetish fellas out there - try saying that phrase three times fast). Just keep the updates coming and I'll just do my part and drool over the exciting additions to Fun Spot Action Park when two coasters, an enterprise flat ride, and an extended go-kart track are finally opened. Oops, I almost forgot, their new merry-go-round ( which isn't new, but bought and brought from another park somewhere, but will be new to the park - I think I'll go water the ducks!). "Footers fetish fellas, footers felt fellas, foot felt fellish . . . hey wait up, I'll go water the ducks with you!" Double0Kevin
I think it's going to go up quick too! The whole pre-made metal supports should make construction a breeze.
Skycoastin Steve
I drove by today around 4 and they had 6 bents up, which means they got two more done after that. This thing is going to take shape pretty quickly!
Patrick210
The Chance/Vekoma "Freedom Flyer" is going up fast. The 250' tall SkyCoaster is tentatively scheduled to be raised in about a week or so. Should go up in about a day. Freedom Flyer 2/15/
rcwizard13
Wow! This is some sudden real rapid work! Or is it that you couldn't notice it when it was just ground work. Never mind, i thought the update from the beginning of last week was this Monday's. Anyways, the two are looking great!
robbalvey
Today I took a little hard hat tour of Fun Spot Orlando's new expansion. A couple of interesting things to note... - Work on the Vekoma junior suspended is coming along nicely. - Lots of GCI bents are on site - SFOG's Wheelie is on site (although wasn't in a place where we could see it today) - When finished, Orlando will have both the world's tallest and 2nd world's tallest Skycoasters! - They are on track for a June 8th official grand re-opening! Here's some pics.... The sign says I'm at Fun Spot, which is good, because that's where I'm meeting people to take me on a tour! Not only are the expanding into the new area of the park, but work and improvements also continue on the current park as well. You're looking right down the middle of the structure of the "2nd tallest Skycoaster" in the world! This one will be 250 feet when built! Fun Spot's PR Director Mark gives us a bit of a perspective on how HUUUUGE these pieces are! Skycoaster is getting painted and will be ready to go up very soon! This will be the loading platform for the Skycoaster. The underside of the Skycoaster loading platform. This will eventually be "Skycoaster lake." If your false teeth drop out of your mouth while on the Skycoaster, they will fall into here...and here they will stay forever! Bathrooms - these are very important, especially if you have any accidents while on the Skycoaster. (and we're talking about poopy accidents...not any other kind!) These dots mark the spot where GCI wood....errr...I mean steel is going to go! There are a lot of dots on the ground! Connect the dots and you'll have roller coaster! (seriously kids, it's that easy! What are you waiting for? Build one in your back yard!) Big Blue thing was birthed at Vekoma. Behind it you can see the new park entrance has taken shape. The Vekoma junior suspended is coming along nicely! More dots.... Dutch supports from Vekoma! Hooray! We have GCI steel! Really looking forward to their first "steel structured" wooden roller coaster! A few bents (actual term!) ready to go into place. Here is what has been completed to date on White Lightning. "You don't wanna get mixed up with a guy like me. I'm a loner, Dottie. A rebel. So long, Dott." That's as tall as the Vekoma is gonna get! They sure have made a lot of progress over the last two photos! Vekoma platform. Work was being done on the junior suspended while I was there. More GCI steel! This will become the support structure for White Lightning. A close up of GCI steel bits. When it's all done, from afar, it will look like a white painted wooden roller coaster! Vekoma track.... I'm pretty sure all the track is on site (or at least most of it!) More Vekoma track and things... That wraps up this Fun Spot update! Should have some more pics soon! Thanks to Fun Spot for letting us come and poke around today.
CpBluestreakCp
Everything looks like it's coming along quite nicely. Can't wait to see it all finished! (Especially the GCI)
angryemobeaver
Looks like everything is progressing very fast! A little selfish of me to say, but I am disappointed on the fact the grand re-opening is on June 8th. I will be in Orlando from the 2nd-8th. of June. Maybe there will be a soft opening, or I will have a little time before my flight back to IND.
