kraxleRIDAH
If a park rep said it will reopen in '07, then that's pretty much as close to the final word as it gets. But where did you hear this from and is it legitimate?
RollerC
It was mentioned on either TN or GG. Someone said one of the PR people said it was going to be worked on during the off seaosn.
kraxleRIDAH
^ I just checked out the Steel Venom thread at Geauga Guide and there was absolutely no evidence regarding any PR person saying ANYTHING. Somebody thought "they heard" it was going to be fixed, but that's it. I still say Steel Venom is packing up and leaving.
coastrfreak2000
Even if a PR did say it wasn't leaving, that doesn't mean they were telling the truth. Sometimes they have to say things because they are told to, or they don't want to give out any plans or hints.
FlyingScooter
They should remove Thunderhawk/serial thriller and Mind Eraser. Both those rides suck. Leave Sue/SV alone. Maybe they'll just turn that park of the park into a ghost town. God knows, they've got the tumbleweeds forming already...
jamesdillaman
^That's like saying Top Thrill Dragster is themed. I know it is "technically" but I think of themed rides as rides such as anything disney, Italian Job, Exterminator at Kennywood, etc. I just don't think everybody likes that ride because the queue is so well themed. I think it has much more to do with the ride itself.
coastermaniac
Even though Superman (yes, six flags names) does hurt more than Wicked Twister at Cedar Point, it still is a great ride partly because its different.
Jew
^ The thing is, if Steel Venom is to be up and running at Geauga Lake in '07, what would be the point in editing it out of the park map for 2007? They would have just left it on there if they planned to fix it and reopen it. FWIW, Universal Orlando/IoA edit out rides down for rehab from their maps. Not something that I would expect from a CF park, but you never know...
FlyingScooter
I think I have a slight idea how CF does things. 1) They're totally incompetent at woodie maintenance. 2) They like concrete and trash cans. 3) According to most accounts, they ruined KBF. 4) A homeless crackhead decorates his box better than CF themes their rides. quote] 4. Dead on! lol

Jew
^^^Sure people aren't going on TTD simply for the theme, but let me ask you this: do you think the average guest would rather wait in line for hours in nothing but switchbacks with no themeing at all, or at least be able to look at the MPH sign/X-mas tree lights to at least help pass the time? Themeing doesn't always make the ride, but it definitely provides "added value." For example...Scream! @ SFMM and B:TR @ SFMM.
Satoshi
Themeing doesn't always make the ride, but it definitely provides "added value." For example...Scream! @ SFMM and B:TR @ SFMM. yeah i think so. they're not always making the ride themed but some values would be gonna add to them like 'Scream!' had gotta be PARKING LOT floorless, 'B:TR' had gotta some gardening themed invert. Sticky Nicky
DemonDrop on the Point Buzz Forums stated something about Kings Island host the first annual Returner's Party that they said that X-FLight, would indeed, be installed at Kings Island as Firehawk and be ready to open by Memorial Weekend 2007. mudvayneimn
If Firehawk is the actual name, I guess I'll be the only one in line calling it X-Flight!

kraxleRIDAH
Speculation is no longer necessary (not like there was much to deny or speculate anyway). A Cedar Fair representative at the EastCoaster event confirmed that Steel Venom will not operate in 2007 and will be dismantled and reassembled at another Cedar Fair park. Information regarding when the dismantling would begin and where/when it would be relocated was not disclosed.
DATman
I take it that the guy who names rides at Cedar Fair really hates his job.
SharkTums
I'm guessing whoever does the ride naming loves Birds as much as I love Rodents! Come on, we need some Penguin themed coasters! Or they could always go back to my favorite CF Bird Themed Coaster Name - Pigeon!
