P. 235: "Toxicator" top spin announced for 2025!

Recommended Posts

So what is the worlds first ?

Is there more going on in the show building we've yet to discover ie. more inversions to bring the count to 11 ?

The manufacturer argument is irrelevant as Verbolten's press pictures show B&M track which we know it isn't, so I wouldn't read much into the layout/elevation diagrams.

Anyway, I'm totally excited... looks fun to me...

hi all,

long time reader and follower, first time poster.

based in the UK i see it as this.

AT got sooo much stick after thirteen, by giving it a SW6 tag and turning out what is a individual good family coaster which the park needed, it didnt suit the enthuasists but i fell it was what the park needed to add to attract the wider audience

AT has always been limited (mostly legally) with what it can do, we know it can spend 10-20m on a project and unlike some of the borefest coasters which sit in massive open expanses around the world, they often put a good level of theming and landscaping into there coasters and this shows with some of there current crop

also because of these limitations they put in a lot of worlds first's, or as we all know are manufacturers prototypes. (air, oblivion, thirteen) this allows them to deliver something grounbraking but on a small scale compared to the giant american coasters.

once these prototypes are done then most us and world parks get the bigger and better versions off the back of what AT do.

personally i hope its a eurofighter and this is because they have a bad rep for samey layouts, broing layouts, short layouts e.t.c

this time we see AT taking what we would regard as a not so popular coaster and then building on it, getting a 1 off layout, most likely getting a worlds first off the back of it to keep there profile up, with a massive bill and hopefully more good theming.

its nice to see the park on the latter end of a product evolution cycle rather than at the beginning in most costers AT have built

also i dont think the 2nd lift hiss (vertical) will be launched. i think its just a big block section due to the lengh of the ride and to factor in whatever is going on in the rather large station building. my opinion

sorry for spelling, im dyslexic and also in a hurry at work so i dont get busted.

PS, hi all!

I'm loving that interlocked Cobra Roll and Batwing Element, all kinda orbiting around each other.

The best part is that its gonna face in towards the central part of X Sector, so it will be a great focal point.

I am so worried that this will be as rough as saw is. That would totally ruin the ride.

By the way, I would put money on it that they will put a name to the interlocking cobra roll and batwing. At a guess I recon they will call it a Staffordshire knot.

Saw isn't so bad but the jolt at bottom of the main drop was there from day one which isn't so good.. With so many inversions and changes of direction this coaster couldn't afford to have the same jolty-ness as saw..

I'm liking the name of the combined element as a "Staffordshire knot"

I'm more interested in complaining about the color of the track. I imagine that will come next.

The proposed layout looks good--and I'm very interested about what will go on in that building. I like it when parks combine dark rides with coasters.

Well..actually the plans state the colour...and it's black/grey.. ei. a dull moody colour.

LIKE EVERY SINGLE SINGLE COASTER MERLIN HAVE BUILT! (Saw, Thirteen, Krake, Raptor, The Swarm) Every single one of them is either black/grey or some moody colour.

Meh guess it suits the theme. I just with they were abit braver with colour.

It is exactly the same colour as other coasters Merlin has built, which I guess is a shame. The only thing is, I feel this will be the coaster that most suits the colour scheme out of the lot. What with X-Sector being a sinister government testing ground and Oblivion already being grey/black. The whole area is that kind of futuristic, almost bland grey/black with orange splashed here and there. I guess the intention was to carry on the theme. That or Merlin really are that boring with colour schemes and it just happens to suit the theme anyway.

Yes, every single ride. Air, Rita, Colossus, Nemesis Inferno, Corkscrew... Unless you just mean the new rides. But to be honest I don't think that dark and moody is a bad thing. I generally think it makes the ride look more menacing...

The rides you mention were not built by Merlin. Air, Rita, Colossus and Nemesis Inferno were all by Tussauds whilst Corkscrew was constructed when Alton Towers was in private ownership.

And to be fair Merlin have since managed to repaint rita to match their favoured scheme

But on a serious note. This will certainly see me up there come 2013, and probably more than my usual one annual trip.

Damn chuck you seemed to have already nabbed the colour debate....

So .. urm...

I don't approve that they are going to construct it with metal.... I would have suggested Toffee or Fudge. or perhaps Ex- X Factor Contenstants....

What about cheese? I'm pretty sure Arrow would've tried it...

On a different note, that interlocking cobra roll/batwing has me thinking. Has anyone ever put a vertical loop through the middle of a cobra roll? Sort of over the cross track at the halfway point.

OK: Best comment of the day- in so many ways, too.

But you're wrong. There's far ore American Idol contestants, which would be a much better ride structure than X factor contestants. And why doesn't it have Susan Boyle at the top of the lift singing?!?!?

I think a big part of the dull color choices at Alton is so the roller coasters are not nearly as visible from outside of the park - If the bitchy neighbors think they can see track they raise hell -
