KBrylczyk
That's the problem with this country. Everybody is looking for the free handout for their stupidity (ed - ironic, no?). When the guest doesn't get off of the handrail after the 3rd announcement, he's not getting off after the 10th. They didn't have to keep announcing it. Keep on keepin' on, Einstein. The49er
It’s rare for Six Flags to open a new ride when summer is in full swing. "We prefer to have our new theme park attractions open by Memorial Day weekend," she said.

El Toro_Ryan
Hey El Toro_Ryan, my girlfriend and I will be at the park tomorrow and we were wondering if Kingda Ka will be operating this weekend? Sorry for the late reply but yes, Kingda Ka should be running but not until 3 or 4.
boldikus
Was anyone there today and if so how were the crowds and queues? I might be going up early tomorrow for a few hours and weather looks similar to today.
njcoasterguy34
I was there today. I'm not exactly sure how the lines for all the rides were since I always get Gold Flash Pass, but at one point I queued up Green Lantern and the time it gave was an hour away. That meant the line was about 2 hours.
El Toro_Ryan
Here's a little park update from greatadventurehistory.com. http://www.greatadventurehistory.com/GATrips_Summer_2014_06_28.htm And it appears Zumanjaro's filming shoot has been moved up to tomorrow so expect some reviews shortly. Edit* I found a video of Zumanjaro and Kingda Ka running together.
woolandmammoth
Interesting pictures. If im not mistaken, one of those pictures show a pinwheel from Jumpin' Jack Flash on the midway. I cant identify the other two cars. They look clean and freshly painted. Wonder why they are there.
coasterbill
One of them is a Calypso car which is pretty cool since that ride closed in 1987. There is a Calypso ride currently running at Cedar Point. That's the only other one I've heard of but there may have been a lot more. Great Adventure History page on the ride.
El Toro_Ryan
The black car is from Monster Spin. There's rumors that GADV is turning the currently empty red tent into a history museum of some sorts. glouthan
Edit* I found a video of Zumanjaro and Kingda Ka running together. That is pretty cool. I just wish that Kingda Ka's train would be on the descent side when the gondolas drop. They might just be testing it and need to tweak it a bit. (Hopefully it will end up like the teaser video where the train goes over the top) I don't mean to complain, though - it's already cool that they are syncing the two rides together to make for a better ride experience. Hopefully the capacity of Ka won't go down from this, though.
Brassinthegrass
I'm sure it will be like that originally. I want to predict that it could be something like every third train drops with the three gondolas... My thoughts are that it would take a train to load the gondolas, a train to lift them, and then it could drop the go dalaa with the third. Since both ride programs are rather new, I'm sure they can link then together on a common server to make them sunk when it makes sence to do so... Does anyone have some more info on how it's done at SFMM?
CoasterLover
I really think it will only be linked for recording the commercial and even when they do that, they'll have Zoomanjaro on some sort of "manual mode" where they can hoist the gondola up and hold it there until the Kingda Ka train is in just the right position. Then hit a "release" button. I'd wager to guess Drop of Doom and Superman essentially never time up perfectly like they did for the commercial shoot. Blue Turbo
^Lex Luthor and Superman are basically run separate. Every so often they will match up, but most of the time they don't. With that it's not very often that they are running both sides of Superman let alone launching at the same time.
rcjp
I don't know if it is even possible to match the gondolas' drop with Kingda Ka's trains' as those go a bit higher and, therefore, are already carrying some speed when they go past the gondolas' maximum height. El Toro_Ryan
Zumanjaro and Ka will be run independently. Originally, the state of NJ didn't even want both rides to run simultaneously at all but Six Flags fought against that I believe. The two rides are now allowed to ride simultaneously but they will not purposely be matched up during regular operation. That would probably kill capacity for both rides if they did. Idk, the Theme Park Maniacs are funny as hell when I'm working. They have an interesting sense of humor. They'll walk up to a ride and start freaking out as a joke or get the whole crowded chanting YES over and over again. It's always entertaining. firewalk13
I have to admit, I'm kinda of jealous Zumanjaro. I would love to see Top Thrill Dragster similarly outfitted.

coasterbill
Since both ride programs are rather new, I'm sure they can link then together on a common server to make them sunk when it makes sence to do so... One big thing to remember is that Kingda Ka breaks down constantly. Anything that makes the systems of a ride that already goes down multiple times on an average day more complicated than they already are should be avoided at all costs. From the sounds of things though it seems like it will operate independently. Ryan seems to be a great source for info like that.
