Wily J
^Its basically a preview of the area. And, its also a test for the Resort. Got ya. . thanks! But considering how people are trashing the place, they may want to rethink things.
COASTER FREAK 11
That's probably why they let people in the area, so they can find answers to the issues.
gerstlaueringvar
Disney is probably trying to figure out what the worst situation will be like for the park. The lake area is public and people can get in free of charge. Even though the area has entry control, uneducated and sketchy people would go there to see what a Disney property is like without having to pay for the expensive tickets. Most of the people that would go to a free Disney property without any rides alone with 160,000 other tourists are definitely not the target audience of Shanghai Disneyland. I'm not saying awful behaviors will not exist inside of the park, but it definitely will not be as bad as the public area of the resort. Let's put it this way, if you have a gigantic free Disney park with a beautiful lake, Diseny level theme, imported flowers all over the place that just opened. I'm pretty sure wherever outside of Japan, Singapore and South Korea, such place will attract sketchy people and they will ruin everything. Just imagine this exact same place in Anaheim. After all I'm 99% sure Disney is just using that lake and adjacent land to save land for a future park and further expansions.
Nrthwnd
That's sad to read. But I seem to remember there was stuff about HKDL's opening in 2005, the same things happening in and around the garden areas. But when the TPR tour visited in 2012, after 7 years open, the problems appeared to be gone. Hopefully, it won't take that long for Shanghai's problems to be solved. kailisun98
Hey guys, good news! I'll be visiting the park on June 3rd thanks to Disneyland giving tickets for the pre-opening test operations stage to Ctrip where I'm interning at. I'll post some photos afterwards as well! Jew
Hard to judge from photos, but there are parts that make me say "WOW" and other parts that make me say "That looks like a spot where they cut budget."
Nrthwnd
That is a LOT of distance between Mickey Avenue and The Castle! That "hub" area looks as big as an entire (smaller) park, in itself! Wow. Very impressed. The load area for Peter Pan looks interesting also, as I can just make out "green-like" stuff growing in the back-right, there. So it's not a flat wall or mural, there. Neat! The video of the TRON launch looks great, too.

RyanTPM
They've done a great job with the park, it looks great. But by far the best looking part has to be TRON's station, it's incredibly impressive!
Nrthwnd
^^ Very envious of you. Have a great time, when you're there! And take photos, of course! (I'm curious how the Pooh ride and the Peter Pan attraction differ from the originals. I know that Pooh is tracked, but still. Curiosity.) One of my current fave photos in the park. And there's not even a Crystal Voyage boat in sight! (o:

Nrthwnd
^ But we need Monstro the Whale! (Or whatever he was called, in Pinocchio.) Or maybe this guy, from the Disney Paris Canal Boats? (o;
gerstlaueringvar
Just read the test run day trip report. Apparently TRON has a very strict loose article policy, everything have to be stored at the locker outside of the station like Mummy.
