netdvn
Funny... They were referring to this video on the ??? and Rumble morning show today and I immediately thought of this thread. I'm kinda surprised that she went through actually marrying the ride. But I'm glad she found her true love even if it is a Magic Carpet ride and I wish her good luck in her relationship. - Dan - "Is Phoenix taken yet?" cfc
Wedding bells for woman and ride?http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/5972632/Woman-getting-married-to-fairground-ride.html ADMIN EDIT: Fixed link to make it work properly. Chuck I was thinking about going to Knoebels soon because I've never been there, but now I'm scared of running into her there I mean, I feel sorry for her and everything, but I think that would be pretty awkward to go there and seeing her having another "intimate moment" with her new "husband" in public. As long as they hose off the ride afterward, you should be OK. ^I think it's the "Tommy and Rumble" show.
netdvn
^ It's actually the ??? and Rumble show. At least until they can find a replacement for Tommy, who resigned Monday... I think that would be pretty awkward to go there and seeing her having another "intimate moment" with her new "husband" in public. I'm pretty sure she would do this when the park is closed and nobody's around. If she decided to visit the park during operating hours, she would probably ride it a million times as her "intimate" moment. And as cfc said, the ride would probably be hosed off after she has her "moments" before the park opens. Which makes me wonder though... How in the world will she even have her "intimate" moments when nobody's around? - Dan - "Creativity???"

Jim S.
Good luck getting put on his insurance... Seriously though, what happens to her when the ride goes to the scrap yard? This will not end well. This is Knoebels we're talking about. The ride will be there forever, as long as they can think of ways to keep it running. They kept a kiddie coaster running for over 50 years because people liked it.
tanthonyam
Woman marries ride? Wow, I would use the term "woman" loosely here. She/he reminds me of PAT from SNL.

lil jimmy norton
She will never have to worry about being embarrassed while buying KY jelly. No one looks at you differently while purchasing some DW 40. She's A-OK in my book.
RedSpecial
I love coasters, but, come on! SHe was licking the ride! For Christ sake!! SHE NEEDS TREATMENT! I think I'll never ride a magic carpet again.... To be serious for a moment I think you have to be careful about saying she needs treatment. The situation does appear distressing - I'd say she needs support, assistance and understanding. Saying she needs treatment sounds like anyone from the 'norm' needs treatment - it's the kind of thing you hear people say about homosexuals - they need TREATMENT. I remember seeing a documentary about two guys who had a very serious relationship with their cars and I do mean extremely serious in a sexual context - however they weren't hurting or impacting their life styles on others so although you wouldn't describe it as 'normal' behaviour if we were all 'normal' life would be a very linear and sad place. What concerns me most about the documentary is the potential media exploitation of such an individual which could become very damaging. All of us here really love coasters and theme park rides just not to this extent.
CoasterNERD502
Im sorry, but this is sick. All jokes aside, this is just not normal. I have nothing else to say, this is disturbing

Satchboogie3
My first reaction to this hole thing was "If I owned Knoebels, I would tear that ride out." I can't believe the park is giving her support. I'd tell her to go molest rides at some other park. Seriously, though, this is a problem. I am fine with people being "different", etc, but this just isn't "right". Besides the obvious problems... it's someone else property. I can understand "loving" a vibrating dildo or something, but a freaking carpet ride? Also, the coaster enthusiast don't actually have a sexual attraction to rides (as far as I know... ), we just like to joke about it. When we say "Oh, intamin box track is SOOO sexy, we are just joking. We think it is visually appealing, like any good architecture should be. But having ACTUAL sexual feelings and wanting to violate a ride is just plain wrong.

tanthonyam
I don't understand why the park owners let him/her continue to visit this ride and marry it. Out of pity I guess.

Possibly becauses her doctor recommends it? It's linked to a mental illness and separation from their "object of affection" (excuse to pun!) can cause emotional distress of which from my experience with mentally ill persons, really isn't good. Amy Baby
True, I may drool over rollercoasters when I see them, but I wont go as far as the girl in the video. That made my stomach sour after watching her make out with the ride and go as far as licking the grease off the ride to taste it.
Rollwithit
I am sorry anyone who says "this is positive" is wrong. Anyone who says "this is normal' is wrong, anyone comparing this to homosexuality is wrong! This is completely abnormal behavior and she needs some SEVERE help. I completely back up any sexual preference, but when it comes to loving an object that is where I draw the line!
