Wes Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Any show that uses Biz Markie to teach kids to beatbox rules. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRw0qL_cCM0
digidude18 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 I wonder how long it took to come up with a song about liking fish? Does this remind anyone of some kind of weird Japanese kids show? Furry hats, a guy in an orange jumpsuit that carries around toys in a transformable boom box, singing about fish? That screams Japanese doesn't it?
Xizor_Racer Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 YIKES!!!!! My daughter LOVES Yo Gabba Gabba (she is 5) It reminds me of HR Puffnstuff and lidsville!!! Now that was some good saturdaymoring TV!!!
the ghost Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 they had shiny toy guns? For some reason I find that hilarious, they are no exactly a kids band. Also Jimmy Eat World is not an Indy band, they are pretty mainstream. Not compared to a lot of other bands, but much more so then most of the bands on the show.
Emiroo Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 My kids love this show. At first you think it's retarded, but then it sucks you in. The songs are quite catchy and actually very intricate musically. I am quite sure that I'll never be able to get "Party in my Tummy" and "Hugs are Fun" out of my head...ever.
SharkTums Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 ^That's exactly what we thought too! At first I couldn't believe how stupid and pointless the show was and I hated it...then after watching the same episode like 5 times since KT loved it so much I started to 'get' it. Now I sing the songs all the time and love it!
nagro5 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Is Robb trying to send us all subliminal messages?
grinch1313 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I love fish! That was completely amazing. And oddly entrancing too. I could totally see how that would keep a child entertained.
TheHulk Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 That was great!!!! I like fish!!! Any show that uses Biz Markie to teach kids to beatbox rules. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xRw0qL_cCM0 And that just seems like something some freakazoid zombie would be saying while wandering around...well, at least the "yum yum" part.
Guy T. Koepp Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Yo Gabba Gabba rocks! January has been watching it since she was 4 and still loves it. It's sort of a weird cross between the Wiggles and the Little Einstein videos. I can only aspire to one day make weird Sh!t llike that only with a little more T&A.
socalMAN123 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Yo Gabba Gabba is the best show on television. Period. Any show that MC Bat Commander is the creator of is just all sorts of win. ---Brent
Reality15 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Dear god, that's what kids nowadays are watching? This replaces Cookie Monster eating a ton of cookies for every meal? All the better reason I shouldn't have kids, I guess. lol
dino Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 My niece got me into this show (she loves foofa). I love how it teaches kids cool lessons like, "be nice to animals" or "don't be afraid to try new things once in a while". Most kids shows like this tend to be focused on letters, numbers & whatnot. Plus the "Hello, Goodbye" song just totally rocks!
vistaway Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Ahh...I didn't realize ex-Devo members were involved in this...makes more sense now. My 4-year old is a fan, and I have a feeling our 8-month old's first words will be either yo, or gabba! Our TiVo is full of episodes this and the Imagination Movers...not much room left for my Top Chef...
terrancew_hod Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 Why did I want mix in Peanut Butter Jelly Time in with that song? I almost started bucking at my desk! I don't like fish BTW. (I don't have to explain that do I?) Last thing: I'm going to call it out... um, who is Ms. Thang?
BeemerBoy Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 My niece got me into this show (she loves foofa). I love how it teaches kids cool lessons like, "be nice to animals" or "don't be afraid to try new things once in a while". Most kids shows like this tend to be focused on letters, numbers & whatnot. After reading some of the posts in here, is that really such a bad thing though?
Brandy524 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 My girls have watched this a few times, but didn't really get into it. I've tried to watch it but it seemed too odd to me. Maybe we need to give another chance. They've gotten into the Imagination Movers. Their songs are really catchy too.
kamikazewatermelon Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 LOL! I watched this once when I was sick and was flipping through the channels! It's so weird!
Kennyweird Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 It reminds me of HR Puffnstuff Wasn't that show riddled with subtle drug references?
coasterdude5 Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Haha they have this show on The Soup alot. I used to think Gullah Gullah island was a bit quacky but this tops it all.
Mechanic Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 It reminds me of HR Puffnstuff Wasn't that show riddled with subtle drug references? Well, that depends on what kind of "stuff" you think they may have been "Puffn".
TheHulk Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Haha they have this show on The Soup alot. I used to think Gullah Gullah island was a bit quacky but this tops it all. LMAO!!! I use to love Gullah Gullah island when I was little, but compared to this, that show is mellow!
Philrad71 Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I'm going to call it out... um, who is Ms. Thang? 1st thought was Raj of 'What's Happening!' 2nd thought was "more cowbell" 3rd thought was...has David Byrne ever been involved with this show, or done any music for it? It would be a match made in heaven! Great stuff!!!
Mike Austin Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 So then, how drunk was Robb when he decided to post this?
Chris Benvenuto Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Good God, I happened to watch an episode or two of this show when I have a snow day every now and then and wow. just wow. This has got to be one of the weirdest shows I have ever seen, but I do use YO Gabba Gabba to annoy people and to make them laugh from time to time
