thrillseeker4552 Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Reading and annotating To Kill a Mockingbird for Advanced 9th Grade English......
Subject_12 Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Currently reading "From Russia With Love" by Ian Fleming. You should recognize that name. The original book series is absolutely spectacular.
jray21 Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Just started reading Two Graves, be Preston & Child. This is the 12th book of theirs I am reading, and I really like them. Their first book, Relic, is really good, but a not so good movie.
onewheeled999 Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I've been reading House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski off and on for about two months. Jeez, that's a dense book. But just flipping through it, seeing the typography and stylistic choices, I can't help but be intrigued.
bottom_feeder_13 Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 I just finished reading a collection of Camus, The Stranger, The Fall, and The Plague, I really enjoyed them all. Just started reading The Gulag Archipelago and am reading Catcher in the Rye for school .
onewheeled999 Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 ^ What did you think of The Stranger in particular? I had to read it for school last semester, and personally loved the exploration of ideas, but couldn't deal with the main character, despite his quirks being the entire point of the book. Â Coincidentally, that's exactly how I'd describe my feelings toward Catcher in the Rye... Meh when actually reading it, exceptional when analyzing it later.
Nrthwnd Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 I got this from Amazon.UK a few days ago. Â Starting to read it now. It has a lot of backstory and history to Alton Towers itself, before the theme park came into being, as it is today. Not a lot of photos in it, but so far has started out, an interesting read.

Meh when actually reading it, exceptional when analyzing it later. It was an interesting read, but I went back and reread the second half and that was when I really started to get it and enjoy it.
jray21 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Got the Kane Chronicles. It's from the guy who wrote Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson was good, but nothing great, so I thought I'd give it a chance. Plus, it was $10 for all three books on my Kindle.
Hoppy Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Two books for fun: Flesh and Bone - Jefferson BassBlaze - Stephen King Two books to help get Fit and continue focusing on my goals: Fit Happens - Michael PierronDream BIG! - Michael Pierron
jackandylan123 Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 John Wardley - Creating My Own Nemesis, got it from Thorpey, 8 quid, well worth it
alilstronger Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Fireworks over Toccoa - Jeffrey Stepakoff
matteocrepaldi Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I am Ozzy! Autobiography of Ozzy Osbourne!
lazaruslou Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 "A Place Called Armageddon" by C C Humphreys
gisco Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Twelve Years a Slave, my daughter got it for me at Christmas. Now I will probably have to see the movie too!
cfc Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 ^The movie is excellent, but difficult to watch (for understandable reasons). Â I like to read one "moldy classic" per year; this year, it's Victor Hugo's Les Miserables. There's not a lot of singing in it, strangely enough.
Moose Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I just finished Signals of Distress. It wasn't bad but I did not like the ending. I want to read MaddAdam, the last if Margaret Atwood's amazing trilogy, but not sure what my book club will pick next. Hopefully I get to choose!
jray21 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Just read the first Cirque du Freak book. As with most books that are movies, it was completely different from the movie, and I do like the book better.
MetallicHorse Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 I'm almost done with The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. I have to read it for my English class and let me tell you, it's one of the best, if not the best book I have ever read
jray21 Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Started re-reading the Lost World. I haven't read it for a long time, and I totally forgot everything about it so it's like reading a brand new book. I forgot how incredibly different the movie is.
rcjp Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Not reading any book right now. I guess I'll read a few short stories by Edgar Allan Poe as I've read a few and really enjoyed them.
