Per Jeffrey, SFFT's Boomerang is the most ridden one in the Six Flags Chain. the Refurb will switch the ride to Magnetic Breaking System, and the park will be getting TWO new trains for it, featuring the Vekoma Chest Restraint system (comfort collars ?). They are getting two, so they can always have a train for the ride, when they need to refurb the other train (same reasoning for the 3rd Iron Rattler train) since SFFT is a year round park. I would not describe the Vekoma vest restraints (which is what this is) as anything even close to "comfort collars." It's nearly identical to B&Ms vest system, so whatever your opinion of those is, you'll probably have the same opinion of these. Personally, I love them....especially on something like a boomerang where head-banging is normally the name of the game.

Yeah, they're fairly unobtrusive and Arrow rides don't force them into your chest like other rides with "comfort collars" tend to (I'm thinking of Premier). That said, Boomerangs can be pretty jarring and rickety. I rode this particular one a few months back just to see how it was holding up, and it was terrible — not because of the restraints, but because of square wheels and wire coat-hanger design. For as brutal as those old arrow cars can be, there's something delightfully unnerving about how much open space there is between the seat and the restraints. Hellocoasters
Hello, I wanted to give my thoughts and review on this park, since I went last weekend (February 18-20th). This was my first time there and my second in the Six Flags chain (one of my most frequent visited parks being Six Flags Great America). I may be going on an unorganized chain of thoughts here. Just some info for anyone doing research on the park during the colder months (Jan-February). The coldest it was during our visit was in the mid 50s and everything was running. Also winds (according to my weather channel app) in San Antonio were up to 9-11mph and everything was running as well. Just as I know winds can affect the rides due to the quarry. First impression, what a beautiful park! the entrance had colorful buildings and the Mardi Gras decorations looked great! The crowds were not too busy at all and the longest wait was Iron Rattler. Wonder Woman was running two trains and the first afternoon we were there it was very temperamental. It wasn't running , they let us wait in line and then kicked us out of line. We ended up going to Dr. Diabolical instead and by the time we got off WW was running again. A lot of walking back and forth on that side of the park. Superman wasn't running for a while on that first afternoon either. But we got on all 4 major rides the first afternoon. The mardi gras food wasn't as good at Fiesta Texas as it was at Sea World, both places had really good entertainment. I was very impressed by the theming on the queues (especially for a six flags park). The German section was beautiful, the boardwalk also had a good vibe. I liked that they had a dark ride (we waited over 30min for it), but found it enjoyable. Basic "boo blasters" sally dark ride, but glad it was different in that it was pirate themed. Boomerang wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (not a bad headbanger). My least favorite was the S&S 4D free spin. I've been on Joker at Great America and this one was more uncomfortable and rattled more (probably because it's the oldest/first). We had some hiccups while waiting for Pandemonium. Dr. Diabolical had a rattle in the back row, I actually quite liked it in the front. We got onto Goliath right when we left the park. I would definitely want to come back here! I want to experience a train ride. Overall, I really enjoyed this park! 8/10
bert425
here are some of my pics from Fiesta Fest yesterday at SFFT. (many behind the scenes shots. . . and as always, gotta get pics with the #1 & #2 reasons to go to SFFT - Park President Jeffrey Siebert, and Sweet Sweet Connie in the Sangerfest Halle. Jeffrey: Sweet Connie: she even got some company in a new Mural painted on the back wall near the bathrooms! the shows were excellent as usual. . the Jamboree one is kinda adult, but really fun too: and the Saloon show is great too. and of course, some rides were done before the backstage tours. (I actually rode a LOT of stuff today, but only snapped a couple of ride pics): We got a tour of the new virtual Gaming center they are building in the old restaurant space in the central plaza: and then went upstairs for a tour of the new Diamond and Above VIP lounge they are building on the 2nd floor overlooking the main plaza (with some nice views from the balconies, including some great viewing space for the evening fireworks): and then a treat, we got to go back to the machine shop to see the pieces of the 3rd train for Iron Rattler: and the refurb currently going on for the Giant Cowboy Hat that dumps the water from the top of the Play Area in the waterpark: then across to the other building to see the 2nd train for Iron Rattler (back on the tracks by next weekend!) and the pesky little pneumatic safety locking mechanisms that were on back order and is why IR has been with one train ops for SOOOO Long: if you're wondering why Wonder Woman is only running 2 trains? here's the 3rd one. (yeah). luckily a new 3rd train will be coming when they work on the track later this year! we got to walk by the floats that most of us would be riding on later. . . .this is the newest float, the amazing Crocodile. not only is it awesome that they have this sign in the backstage area from an old bet with Kings Island. . . look. .it says "Bert" right there in it time to drink and ride some more things! until we got called back to get ready for the parade. first they dressed us up all pretty like: and then we got assigned floats. got lucky, and we got chosen to ride on the front section of the newest float! we threw so many beads, and the park was so crowded, that we were completely out before the end of the parade route! luckily there were many other floats behind us with lots of beads for everyone. a great event and a great time at SFFT.

bert425
well. . even tho that IS Wallace in the ride sign there. . the original Kid Flash was Wally West. and there's also Impulse as an option. . . so they could still end up naming the two tracks. bert425
Soooo. . .with "Kid Flash" confirmed being part of DCUniverse section (which currently ends at Superman. . and then turns into Thrillseeker Park / Spassburg area). and Skyscreamer sitting *between* Superman and the new Kid Flash coaster. does this mean a re-theme to Skyscreamer at SFFT? (I suggested either to Hawkman or maybe Shazam). . . the response by the Park President to me is making me think . . . yup, we're getting a retheme, tho nothing has been formally announced. Nrthwnd
I think the color combo on the coaster train is great! Most times, I see (whatever sized) new coaster trains with mainly the front of them, themed. Nothing wrong with that. But this is great, especially for the kids riding it. bert425
after a full morning/afternoon at SeaWorld San Antonio (enjoying the Seven Seas Food Festival), we popped into SFFT for a bit on the way home. Glad we did, as they were doing Passholder Appreciation weekend, with a voucher to come back for some event (launch party?) for the new Kid Flash coaster later this "early summer". but a better reason was to ride Miss Kitty (as the train is now back running - AND Gully Washer finally reopened yesterday too). but the best reason? they have the new Boomerang train on display in front of the coaster as they have already started the work on it (maintenance guys were up on the cobra roll during our visit) some pics: not a pop in without a stop to see Miss Connie in Sangerfest! and ride my Bowie Bunny on the Carousel we also got on Miss Kitty which was finally back up and running (tho we had a delay due to "something on the tracks" = not sure what it was, but prayers to a likely flat squirrel. and then we wandered over to Boomerang where the park had just put out this display today. the new cars look great, and I really like the explanation of the changes!
bert425
Met up with my friend John today at SFFT to get him the Dr. Diabolical credit (success! x 2), and Boomerang (missed it as was having maintenance issues - it just reopened on Friday with upgraded train, new brakes, and new launch system. . so I guess it's really in Technical rehearsal. Tho I'm sure they did eventually get it going, we had to head elsewhere by 12:30. so we did a few things in the park. . wanna see? sure ya do! waiting for John to meet up. Tho the park opened officially at 10:30? gates were open at 10 and Goliath were running by 10:15am. (I'd assume Boomerang would have been up too, if it weren't having issues) ooo.. per the letter I saw from Salim? all the Parks now have a VIP entrance for Diamond and above passholders. the one at SFFT is to the left (by the "outside" restrooms (klassy!) and Goliath). . . we used it specifically so I could get pics, but really the main gates lines were moving smoothly and on this morning really didn't need it. Can see it being a big perk later in the day when the main entrance lines get really long tho. we checked out the new E6 Gaming complex in the main Plaza next to the theater and across from the DC Superhero store (popping our head in 5 minutes before opening, and the great staff there encouraged me to come in and get pics while the place was empty). I didn't get a pic of the small retail area, but it sold game themed stuff, and John bought a Mega Man shirt from here before we left really, REALLY nice. . and all lit up like being inside TRON. We headed over to Dr. Diabolical's Cliffhanger, and rode twice - once in back row, and then again in front row. I insisted John take middle seat on front row, as it's 7 across so you can ride the track. tho I still say Dr. D. is a back seat dive coaster, for the airtime you get in that row. . . John loved front row. Boomerang had started testing, so we headed over that way, but were told it would still be a few hours, as maintenance was working on issues they were seeing. So got a pic of John with the sign.. he'll just have to come back to San Antonio again for this "credit" It's not a visit to Six Flags Fiesta Texas without a visit to Sweet, Sweet Connie tho. . . so popped into Sangerfest to say hello. and then we decided on the way out to check out the "soft opened" VIP lounge - which is upstairs over the E6 gaming place. WOWZA. . . it was really deserted, but I think that's simply because many folks don't realize it's there, and open. this place is beautiful, and what wonderful perks. you show your diamond level pass at the kiosk and they give you a pass (and lanyard, tho no lanyard this morning) and up the stairs to this incredible place. with tons of seating. . televisions, charging stations. . . and even ride time boards installed, so you can see what wait times are for the biggies i the park! a spread of snacks, with cookies, fruits/nuts/veggies/cheeses/meats, Pretzels & mustard, as well as juices, water, and coffee (that was really good coffee) a full service bar too - with a soda gun for free soda refill in membership cups. I asked how much the discount was for drinks - as had thought I had heard during a construction tour that the drinks would be specially priced. but when he punched one up to see, it came up to ~$14. . which didn't seem to be discounted. But again, it's a soft open, so maybe they just haven't figured that out yet. the bartender guy (as well as the lady restocking the food) and the other couple that was relaxing in there with us - all were very nice, and we had a wonderful conversation with them all. . mainly about how much we love SFFT, and how great a Park President Jeffrey Siebert is, and that's a big part of why this park is so amazing. looking around at some of the other rooms with seating available up here. . I *think* there's another room back there behind the doors too. . probably where they are storing additional improvements - but that door on the left? Heads out to a nicely sized patio with more seating that overlooks the plaza and Boomerang. overall? Very, very impressed with what SFFT has to offer..and can't wait to pop in here on a packed and hot day to cool down and take a look at how it does when really full of people.

Arthur_Seaton
Went down to Fiesta, hoping to catch one of the few post-4th slower days and maybe get some marathoning in. The weather was looking sketchy, so I figured that’d help as well. I budgeted a few hours, but I often end up staying longer if my crowd calculations ring true. The place was more crowded than I expected, but not too bad. That said, a lot of the rides were down when I was there, so that likely bumped up the waits for other stuff. For instance, I used single rider for Iron Rattler (I hope they never get rid of that) but I saw from the station that the line had breached the switchback ramps, presumably because there wasn’t a whole lot else open for the first couple of hours. Such a line seemed unusual for a fairly slow day. I ended up leaving after just a couple of hours, so hopefully, things shaped up after I left. One of the first in, which is hardly anything to brag about. It meant basically sitting around for good 45 mins before anything actually opened. I don't remember the last time I saw this thing running. There were guys doing something on the lift, but not sure it would open later. Ominous clouds and potential storms are the norm in Central Texas. Afterward, I ended up going to ZDT's for the first time to ride Switchback. It’s a bit out of the way, but it’s a great ride, and if you’re into things like go-carts, water slides, rock climbing, and arcade games, I could certainly see the park being a good half-a-day affair. I bought the Entry + “Switchback Only” pass ($20) and planned to ride that alone a bunch of times. The place was pretty empty, and quite a few of my laps on Switchback were taken solo. I recall reports claiming it to be smooth, but I wouldn’t say that is the case. It’s rough right now, but that roughness is also largely due to its general aggression. The roughness and intensity remind me a bit of Apocalypse when it's in its roughest state. In fact, after riding twice, I thought I was done and felt a headache coming on. After a quick break to look around the place, though, I felt up for a few more rides and rode it eight times in total. Obviously, it’s not required on a ride like this, but the lack of security checks and clearance associated with large rides was pretty funny. You pull the lap bar down, the op checks quickly, then you're off into what feels like a wild-mouse opening. The lift hill seemed longer than the height of the ride, and the first drop is quite an event: very steep with solid airtime all over the train. What follows is very aggressive ups and downs with some pretty shuffly turns. It doesn't feel like it's jackhammering, per se, but it does feel like it's hitting the track hard when it comes down from a hill or hits a high-speed turn. The spike didn’t do much for me, and the backward leg was a bit nauseating each time, but I think it's a fun ride and super interesting. I wouldn’t classify it as particularly re-ridable due to the aggression, but it’s not so violent that you can't get on it a few times either. I certainly wouldn’t peg it as a kiddie coaster. All in all, very much worth the detour, and I’d likely go again if I had someone in tow who wanted to check the place out. Apologies for dumping a ZDT report in the Fiesta thread, but you know . . . Really interesting to see how overbanked this turn is. The spike looks cool, but the first drop was the best part for me.

bert425
so SFFT just rolled this out, literally moments ago. (I've already asked Jeffrey for more info. . ie: what rides are included? only 2 rides per visit? can you swap out the rides or the same two for rest of summer?) for only $25, that's a good deal, as the regular Flash Pass is $50 per visit if you want it.
AmyUD06
A $25 one time payment that give you two skip-the-lines per visit for the rest of the season? More Selim genius at work. Did SFFT not sell the single-use skip-the-lines that other SF (and now CF ugh) parks did? All-season Platinum FP at SSFT is $430, so this "introductory offer" has to be like 75% off the "normal" price at least.

tndank
Odds are it's just 2 of the basic flash pass skips. Same wording on that level and the sales page for this. bert425
Had a great time today, meeting up with friends at SFFT to enjoy the "Flavors of the World" Food Festival. Jeffrey & Chef Tim Klauder did a great job as almost everything is excellent. . . we bought the 12 punch (since if you buy 8 you get 4 free) and it was WAY too much food. let's just say that Macroons & Baklava travel very well in "to go" containers we also checked out the "Circuit Breaker" electric go karts - fun, tho they look better at night when you can see the lights. the VIP lounge was nice and cool - tho we didn't eat any of the snacks as were SO full from the food festival. and caught the band in Sangerfest Halle - they were really good, even tho all cover songs (but what one would expect at a theme park). way too hot for many rides, but did ride Pandemonium, Pirates of Deep Sea (both walk on), Spinsanity (1 cycle wait), and the Carousel. only "boo" was that every single frozen drink place in the park had the frozen dispenser down. . so no Frozen Jack & Coke, no frozen Daqueries, no frozen Margaritas, and no frozen Dr. Diabolical's Elixer. Seriously, what a bummer that multiple restaurants/bars/quick serve stands had the frozen drink machines down. but only a small downside, to what was a great, if warm, day. actually. . not the only "boo". . tho this one was fixed after some pain. . . WARNING, Six Flags Corporate rolled out a new App. It automatically upgrades whatever app you had on your phone. It also WIPES OUT ANY PASS/MEMBERSHIP you had attached to the prior App. so yep, was standing at the front gate with no pass on my phone. Pulled out my hard copy of the pass (at least thought that was what it was) only to be told that it was expired. They tried to direct me to the huge line at Guest Services outside the front gate, and I told the guy "nope - I'm going to go to Guest Services right there, inside the park" and he shrugged and gestured me thru. Luckily, the gentleman at the Guest Services there, Joe - going to give him credit - after digging thru multiple screens, was finally able to find my current Diamond Level Pass in the system (by tying to my email, as phone number showed multiple expired passes, and name gave him nothing in the system). So eventually he printed me a new card, and then standing there, helped me attach the new Pass to the new version of the app in my phone. so be warned.. if you only use your phone for your pass/membership scan in? check it NOW. . .as Joe told me they'd seen the issue *multiple* times since Corporate updated the app. (which is, of course, filled with dates past for offers, and things that make no sense in the benefits tabs now). . .but at least fixed. some pics: the flyer showing the offerings. . .all booths located near each other in the "German" section of the park. these were the Chinese Pork Ribs. . *excellent*. . among the best dishes offered, I think and the Post Stickers (Steamed Chicken & Veg) served with Edamame Cuban Cigar Rolls (deep friend Pork, Ham, and swiss cheese w/ pickles) and a mustard dipping sauce from the Caribbean booth From France, the Macarons. EXCELLENT. Also from France, the Ham & Cheese Croissant. . . very good as well we tried multiple things from all booths, and all were really good. . so I recommend this. . you have two more weeks to check it out! but over on the boardwalk? SFFT now has a Fatburger!!!! Prices in line with "theme park food" (~$18 for a burger), but were on the Meal Plan. (the Johnny Rockets is still over in DCUniverse near Superman. . so that option is still there as well) Progress on Wonder Woman's station.. it's all dug up, as they are replacing/upgrading the station mechanics/motors. how's Kid Flash looking? really, really good.. . honestly, they seem to be almost done with the tracks themselves. . maybe complete in the next week? and now have to work mostly on the Queue line, and Station. some new art installations around the park too. butterflies. . very Dollywood. a break in the bar (no frozen Jack & Coke - boo. . but it was cool in there and we hung out for a bit), then back over to Spassburg for more food. many of the booths have Photo Ops near them: this is the Tiramisu Gelato Cone from Italy. very, very messy to eat. . but OMG.. so damn good. another art installation.. metal "sunflowers".. pretty and ending in my happy place, on the Bowie Bunny, before getting a few orders of Macarons & Baklava to go. . .

Yes, the two tracks will have different names, but they haven't yet decided on them (my question to Jeffrey after event ended) - Wonder Woman phase 1 refurb is almost done, and will be reopening shortly, but with same trains (refurb work has been done on them). Phase 2 will take place in 2024, and will replace all 3 trains with the newer train design -better comfort collar and no seatbelt. -- the new slides in the waterpark, are behind schedule, tho parts are on site, and the opening has officially moved to 2024 -- Skyscreamer is getting a retheme - to Supergirl. - Thrill Seeker Park is no more! Besides the confirmed removal of the Pirate Playscape, and the Looney Tunes Theater (and the moving of Bucking Broncos over to by Iron Rattler). . the whole area will now be part of the DCUniverse! all rides getting rethemed: Rambling Road - will become Penguin themed Sky Searchers - will become Poison Ivy themed Streamliner Coaster - will become Batgirl themed Stunt Pilots - will become Green Lantern Themed PLUS there will be 3 new rides added: a Zamperla Nebulaz - Cyborg themed a 70foot "bounce" tower, with rotating seats - Shazam themed & a Monorail!!! Themed to Superman/Metropolis, that will start in the corner back where the theater was, and will travel overhead out to Batman, and then back around the DCU area. 4 car trains, with 4 passengers per car. . an almost 5 minute ride. I was there here are some pics! it's not quite September yet. . but some of the Fright Fest decorations are already out! let's take a peek at Kid Flash! Track complete, all LED lights affixed, and they are working on the station. As noted above, Jeffrey announced it's opening in October, and we should keep an eye on emails for passholder previews, and sneak peek party information it looks BEAUTIFUL lookie at allll those electrical boxes to control the light package. this is gonna look stunning at night. they have restored a classic figure to the carousel! the bacwards seated clown is now back on the carousel after years and years of being gone! this was the first weekend of Octoberfest, and Spassburg area is all decked out - including this massive Animatronic that turns his head and heaves giant mugs of beer. gotta stop in and say hi to Sweet, sweet, Connie. and costumed cast members out to celebrate Octoberfest - asked for a pic, and they were happy to Oblige. (yes, I'm sweating. .it was 106 today!) ahhh. . into the cool (A/C) Zaragoza theater for FT92, the fan event that everyone is invited to. we got a peek at the entrance to Kid Flash (too slow to catch it, sorry), and the loading station: (and yeah, that really tall guy, stood up on his seat even tho he was in the front row. . so his head is in all my pictures. . sorry. . . don't have energy to crop, so enjoy his head in every pic). the Kid Flash cars for each train. . 2 seats across in each row. some of the signage that will be in the queue. for your train junkies. . here are some pics of the updated Wonder Woman trains. . coming in 2024. we got some updates on Boo Fest (the not so scary fright fest) as well as Frightfest (a new house, a new show, a new scare zone (the WHOLE boardwalk will be an evil carnival scare zone)) and a performance from the cast of Zombie Prom Jeffrey announced a new event coming up in ~6 weeks. . and man does this sound cool and yes, they will be doing fireworks at noon. . during the full eclipse! and it's a Saturday! ok. .here are looks at the ride announcements. bye bye "Thrillseeker Park" - hello part of DC Universe! been saying for MONTHS they were gonna retheme Skyscreamer. . as it made no sense to have a Non-DC ride between Superman & Kid Flash coasters. Really pleased they went with Supergirl! and the 3 new rides: the locations of where the rides will be in relation to the area. so basically back along side Bugs Bunny Rapids flume area. where this structure currently sits. Along that fence (and up some stairs) will be the Metroliner station. as announced, SFFT will now have the largest collection of DC Universe themed rides of any park in North America! Park President Jeffrey Siebert and I after the presentation.

This park never ceases to amaze me! you are very welcome. . . I love this park, and always happy to share. and as for those online (and yes, there ARE several) who are loudly and vocally complaining it was a lot of hype for 3 "kiddie" rides? I say to them: 1- they aren't "kiddie" rides. . most of the rides in thrillseeker park were for older kids - they removed one of the two truly kiddie rides (Bucking Broncos) over to Iron Rattler. Leaving only one true kiddie ride (the speedway electric cars) over there. The rest of the rides? Adults and older teens always ride anyways and were welcome to. Kid Flash, and the 3 new rides, are FAMILY rides, not kiddie rides. 2 - if expecting a new coaster announcement? that's on them - the park got a giant Dive Coaster in 2022, and in 2023 is getting the family Kid Flash. 2025 is the 30th anniversary of the Boardwalk.. . . so at NEXT YEAR's FT92, I expect an announcement of a new coaster - by the boardwalk area. & 3 - 2
