Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

p. 832: Camp Snoopy announced for 2024!

Recommended Posts

Here is a POV taken circa 1999. The Beast does not travel as fast today as it did back then. Just look how fast it is moving as it exits the MCBR shed and how far up the second lift it goes before the chain catches.

This is exactly what I was saying.

At time mark 2:38 the train engages the chain as the first or second car reaches a "landing" for a set of stairs on the right side of the track.

It is currently the SAME speed as it was in the video.

The magnetic brakes are shorter, and more forceful, but it is the same speed.

Ride it on April 18th, and sit in the 4th row. As you start up the second lift hill, watch the first landing on the right side. The train engages the lift chain here.

This is the landing that we use to judge the speed of the train when we ride it.

We watch and see where we engage the chain in relation to the train next to this landing.

On the contrary, with Banshee going in, the lines for all of the action zone rides will be bigger than average. Lines for Diamondback and Beast will still be long, but shorter at times when they would normally be long as the public will focus on getting to Banshee in the morning and for night rides.

I find it a bit strange that they mention that there are strobe lights as not only almost every coaster has an onride camera but also because they're not usually disturbing in any way (at least I don't think so)

As far as strobe lights go, the only ones that I really remember were on Raptor at Cedar Point. As the train entered the Cobra Roll, the flood lights would go off and the strobe lights would go on as the train went through the element. Very cool! This was in the first year of its operation. They are not in use any more...
